These are the framers of the Australian constitution in 1891. All white, all male & overwhelmingly Anglo-Irish. No women, no non-Anglo cultures or ethnicities and of course no Indigenous peoples. The Constitution they created was a two-legged stool. It took the 18th century 
American political system and combined it with British monarchical precepts. The third leg should have been structures that represented the displaced first peoples of the continent. Drawn from what even then was a minority of the colonial population, the drafters produced
a transactional Constitution that unsurprisingly embodied only the values of its authors. Belatedly, passing the Voice will add that missing third leg. Australia will be the better and stronger for it. #TheVoice2023 @LindaBurneyMP @JulianLeeser @guardian @ABCthedrum
