My name is Ogechi Nwonye, I am a Social Entrepreneur & a recycler based in Enugu State, Nigeria. Over the years, I have come to the realization that we are surrounded heavily by Plastic Waste and we churn out even more as the day goes by.

i have the tendency to pack food and water for my kids by using reusable water bottles for the children to take to school, but I noticed adults who are in traffic, buy water Satchets, Plastic Water and dispose indiscriminately, likewise at the cafeteria rather than adults to
bring in their own reusable bottle, they make use of disposable cups & straws which contributes negatively to the Environment.
On going to the store with a couple of friends, I went along with my reusable bag but they end up laughing at it and prefer to collect as many

We can do much better if we start to reduce the amount of Plastic we use, Carry our own spoon, plate, fork, cups, and ditch single use Plastic while donating or sell to a recycling center near

We can combat Plastic Waste if :
A) We learn the basics of segregating waste from source.
B) if we integrate Environmental Sustainability into our school curriculum, by teaching young ones about it and helping to change behavioral attitude & lifestyle towards it

They can be taught Waste Upcycling for the purpose of remodelling it for Sustainability & To make beautiful work of arts and crafts while taking Climate Action
D) We can curb it if Citizens begin to take Recycling into consideration, every households, businesses, should be

mandated to have waste segregation Bins for collections & inturn find a Recycling Center near them to donate it to for free or for incentives.
Support local recyclers with local initiatives to combat Plastic Challenge.
E) Tax plastic bags at shopping Mall and watch people begin

to bring their own bags, which will help reduce drastically the amount of Plastic waste & move our economy from linear to Circular.
Lastly, the Government should as a matter of urgency provide state of the art equipments, machinery & facilities for the purpose of curbing

We are often the choice we make, we can all join hands to beat plastic pollution if we decide to adhere to the 3Rs of Waste Management accordingly ( Reduce - Reuse- Recycle ♻️).
