The Washington Post is set to publish a story tomorrow taking aim at conservative groups requesting documents from universities over their ties to “disinformation” tracking and the US government, according to a source familiar with the matter.
I'm told the piece will be about conservative "media outlets and influencers" spreading "falsehoods" that Big Tech, universities, and other groups are "colluding with the US government to thwart speech."
Two Republican members of Congress on the Judiciary Committee who have been investigating the relationship between the US Government and Big Tech were contacted today about it, according to two sources

EXCLUSIVE: Biden’s State Department is now facing a congressional subpoena for failing to turn over documents on ‘censorship-by-proxy’ funding to outside organizations, @dcexaminer has learned 🧵1/4
The subpoena, served to State’s Global Engagement Center from House Republicans, demanded sprawling records by June 27
It’s the latest development in a House investigation launched after @dcexaminer reports on the Global Disinformation Index blacklisting conservative media. 2/4
The subpoena comes as State’s GEC may lose funding via Congress over the $100K Global Disinformation Index grant and others lawmakers say promoted widespread censorship of disfavored speech.
@FDRLST and @realdailywire are suing GEC over the ‘disinfo’ programs 3/4
SCOOP: The Department of Homeland Security/its CISA had privately "recommended" the State Department contact the Election Integrity Partnership, which worked to suppress speech on social media before the 2020 presidential election, according to internal emails
When did State Global Engagement Center reach out to EIP — which it helped flag "misinformation" posts to social media platforms?
. . . Just hours after @nypost's bombshell Hunter Biden story suppressed by Twitter, a key partner of EIP, on Oct. 14, 2020
cc @EmmaJoNYC
The unearthed coordination between DHS/State on EIP raises further concerns to Republicans, including on @JudiciaryGOP, about why a foreign-focused agency in the GEC would ever get involved in the EIP.
The EIP worked to systemically suppress posts by Trump/other Republicans
The DC Attorney General has closed its investigation into left-wing dark money kingpin Arabella Advisors, a lawyer for Arabella groups confirms to @dcexaminer
But a lawyer for one ex-employee in the Arabella network has thoughts:
Lawyer Timothy Parlatore for Sarah Walker, a former New Venture Fund employee suing the Arabella group over alleged racial and gender discrimination, indicated to me he thinks the investigation was prematurely closed
Walker’s case is headed to discovery, @AndrewKerrNC reported
“The last thing you want, if you’re a truly honest, nonpartisan law enforcement officer, is to come to a hasty decision and then have a civil suit that reveals information you should have uncovered before making your decision.”
EXCLUSIVE: DHS-tied “misinformation” researcher Kate Starbird, who recently appeared on 60 Minutes, personally advised Big Tech on content moderation — she testified behind closed doors to Congress 🧵
@dcexaminer reviewed the transcript, which hasn't been publicly released
Starbird then claimed to me she didn't work w/ platforms AT ALL on a DHS misinfo panel or EIP, which suppressed speech before the 2020 election
Platforms would "reach out to me . . .to help them better understand how rumors and disinformation spread online” since 2017, she said
Reach out they did: Speaking to Congress in June, Starbird said she advised platforms “which accounts you might want to not bother” labeling — or, effectively, suppress
NEW: The State Department-funded Global Disinformation Index is likely violating federal law by redacting its financial disclosures exclusively mailed to @dcexaminer — despite GDI blacklisting conservative media for "opaque ownership structures" 🧵
The transparency flop comes as @FDRLST and @realDailyWire — joined by the state of Texas — sue the State Department for "one of the most egregious government operations to censor the American press in the history of the nation" over funding GDI.
Last year, GDI redacted its tax forms, and sent @dcexaminer a letter from its attorney claiming it did so because it was the target of a "coordinated harassment campaign" led by the news outlet.
Tax experts say the exemption wouldn't even apply + doesn't allow redaction . .
