Guy has been engaging in criticism of Labour's proposed policy to halt the granting of new licenses for oil and gas exploration.
Sometimes he does this with silly eye emojis 👀as a way of avoiding actually giving any of his own thoughts. So let's see if we can take some guesses.
But before we get to Guy's record on related matters, the first thing to point out is that this policy from Labour is in agreement with:
- Scientific consensus
- The IPCC
- The United Nations
cont...
- The UK’s most senior climate advisor (a former Tory env. sec.) (tinyurl.com/2p9m4mz7)
- His own government (but only when they talk about other countries)
All of which suggests Guy doesn’t understand or care about these issues, or is just towing the party line as usual
A quick aside here: while Labour are proposing to stop *NEW* licenses and invest in green energy instead "The Conservative Party received £3.5m from individuals and entities linked to climate denial, fossil fuels and high-pollution industries last year."
But rather than get further into Labour policy and dodgy Tory donors, let's return to Guy's record on Climate and Environment.
First – Guy may often say he wants to support help with energy bills, yet he votes not to support home produced, clean, cheap energy
Second – he generally votes against measures to tackle climate change
Third – he voted to allow Hexham to be one of the worst constituencies in terms of sewage dumps in our beautiful rivers (hence his nickname Plopperman)
As promised, here's a short thread on some interesting (read: dodgy/shady) information on donations accepted by our dear MP Guy Opperman.
Pour yourself a drink and dive in ...
The #WestminsterAccounts from Sky News make for interesting and sometimes disturbing reading and I recommend you taking a look.
But here lets take a quick dive into the info for Guy news.sky.com/story/westmins…
You can see that Guy has declared £24,500 in payments and gifts, which is well above the average for all MPs.
But it's some of the detail that is most interesting.
