Hi twitter people, I want to share this... I got scammed last week. 10k. It was pretty straightforward initially but then turned out to be quite sophisticated. Please read it and share it. Im ore pissed off with Revolut tbh and how they couldnt care less facebook.com/alice.coyle.16…
It's a genuine story, anyone who knows me here can text me about it.@drivetimerte covered it last week and @conor_pope has done brilliant work on it @IrishTimes. @RevolutApp have completely washed their hands of me, they just keep blaming me for being robbed.
If you have an accout with them you will have recieved emails from them over the last week telling you how to avoid being robbed. Ie., it's your job to keep your money, that they are using to make millions, safe, not theirs.
They are as good and secure a bank as any. Unless something goes wrong and you want to communicate with them. I spent 8 hrs being churned through AI-generated 'customer support' while I watched my money being robbed before my eyes.
The local gardai dont have a number or an email for a human @RevolutApp either. An Irish bank is uncontactable by the guards. I still haven't heard from them either of course. Uless you count more non-sensical AI-generated drivel. I dont.
Since shouting about my scam, so many people have told me their stories and I have come to a couple of conclusions. 1)nobody trusts a bank where there are seemingly no humans 2) loads of people are being scammed all the time, for amounts bigger than mine
Especially older people. And they are too embarrased to admit it., thinking they were stupid or foolish. I am going to keep shouting about this until the banks, tech & comms co.s and government do something to protect victims of cyber crime.
Do please spread the word. Thanks
