Dawlah Islamiyah / Katibah Ranao, the Lanao del Sur & Norte wing of the Islamic State in East Asia (#ISEAP) released a video showcasing their attack in Marogong against local #AFP and #CAFGU detachments.
This is a thread breaking down the propaganda video produced by the group.
The video starts off with a explanation of the 'great tribulations and conquests of Islam', with clips of medieval sieges and battles. It then moves onto footage of Marawi, explaining how 'they were able to surprise the enemy' and kill many supposed disbelievers.
In this part of the video, they pay homage to many killed commanders and emirs, including the Maute brothers, who were prominent in Abu Sayyaf's leadership. They're referred to by their Arab kunya (nom de guerre)
After that, they show footage of the offensive launched by them in Marogong. The area is a ISIS stronghold, one of the last areas with prominent activity. They seem to use M16 and Remington family rifles which usually captured from the AFP.
Some more clash footage. Two killed AFP are shown, in contrast to the supposed one soldier claimed by the AFP themselvs. The video claims that 6 AFP and CAFGU were killed in the operation,
6 of their own killed per the video, including one of their commanders. AFP claim 10 killed
They then show from the AFP side soldiers talking about IEDs and their effectivity, supposedly to show that their strategy of roadside bombing and the like are effective. Footage seems to be filmed around November to December.
ISIS training, somewhere around the border between Lanao del Norte and del Sur. Regimen includes pushups, situps, jumping through a burning ring, balance and pullups
