I told you that at a junction not far from my place, there were at least 6 PoS operators but on that faithful Monday morning, I found just one and that one did not have cash. I told you that trouble was coming but we were called alarmists.
Then, few days later the price of naira to naira official rate became N5,500 to N5,000 and N6,000 to N5,000 at the black market.
Then, even at N7,000 to N5,000, there was no cash anywhere.
The bank were able to pay N2,000 to an individual who has stayed on queue since 5am to 4pm and it wasn't even every customer that was fortunate to get N2k after queuing for that long yet some people were busy defending the wickedness.
Then commercial banks were attacked mostly in the SW. Our respected banker friends and relatives became an endangered species. The day I saw that Zenith bank lady climbing a ladder to escape from the bank premises, my heart bled.
He was releasing as low as N250k to a big bank branch in Abuja! N250,000 for a bani branch in the federal capital.
Emefiele had succeeded in blackmailing the banks. Some bundles of naira were delivered in a bank but before it could be disbursed to various branches in bits,
he had sent ICPC there to make it look like the bank was hoarding the money and his social media supporters helped him share the blackmail.
Then Asiwaju spoke against the evil done to the Nigerian people and that further lifted us to continue to condemn it.
Then Governors Mattawale, El-Rufai and Yahaya Bello took FG to court.
And people who no longer had access to N5k a week said that they were desperate.
And when supreme court ruled that CBN must stop the nonsense, Whatsapp, Facebook and Tweeter Senior Advocates
said that supreme court have no power to adjudicate on monetary matters. Those were people with no human feelings.
Then the then president made his greatest mistake in office by over ruling the supreme court by ordering that only the old N200 must be circulated
with the new notes that we haven't seen till today.
Emefiele was working for the cabal to stop the APC candidate from winning but while PDP and LP supporters knew and were happy and ready to endure the avoidable affliction,
some APC supporters most of who did not support Tinubu in the first place, were also hailing the policy. They said that any time they transferred money, it was perfect but they knew that they were lying to themselves.
We went into the election in that terrible state of a collapsing economy as a result of the policy and yet God gave Tinubu victory.
But even after the election and after the final ruling of supreme court, he did not order the issuance of the old notes
until The Nation newspaper reported that he'd released a large sum of money to the IhPOB candidate in Lagos, Gbarebo.
That night, the presidency said that he shouldn't have waited for any directives from it to obey the supreme court's final ruling.
So immediately he released a circular to commercial banks to start paying the old notes the notes he had earlier told us that he'd destroyed
But before all that, he had wanted to vie for APC presidential ticket and even went to court to ask if as a sitting Central Bank Governor,
it is illegal to contest for a political office.
What a shame.
His suspension from office and arrest last night is the least any serious government should do and it is welcomed by somebody like me.
May this nation never have such character as the head of her Central Bank again
And if he's found guilty of sponsoring IhPOB, let justice take its course on the heartless whose policy caused the death of some people and the collapse of businesses.
