THIS IS A THREAD WITH REGARDS TO THE PREJUDICED NATURE OF THE NATIONAL MEDIA, PARTICULARLY AS A RESPONSE TO NEWSLAUNDRY'S ARTICLE " 'A pen can do more harm than a gun': In Manipur, Meitei owned media is winning the 'perception' war "
1) As early as on May 11, we started sending emails 2 some National media houses & a regional one 2 inform about the Manipur violence (started on May 3). Particularly, it was coz we came to understand that Kuki propagandists had already started telling their false narratives.
For example, Prof Khan Khan Suan Hausing had already published his fake story/article on the Indian Express Editorial page on 3rd May, 2023.
2) In these emails we sent to these media houses, we attached PDFs of
a) Compilation of News articles chronologically containing ONLY THE LINKS OF THE ARTICLES,
b) A press release paper by PAPPM & Delhi Manipur Society, explaining the incidents, & who might be responsible
for the start of the Manipur violence,
c) Possible reasons/grievances/chain of events which might have lead to the 3rd May incident (prepared by us),
d) A transcript of video (& photo) evidences (both translated to English from Meiteilon & Kuki lon),
& these were allowed access to the email recipients (the media houses with permission) from a Googledrive folder, which we have collected until then, & most importantly,
e) Counterpoints (prepared by us) to the Kukis' propaganda, explaining why we believed there was a false narrative trying to be established & spread in the National media, especially by the Kuki intellectuals.
3) Remember, at this point (May 11), many National media did not know/talk much about various related issues such as those of Illegal immigration, Poppy cultivation & Govt's War on Drugs, Kuki militancy problems, Land Reform Acts, ADC Bill Demands, etc.
Funnily, at this point, everyone seemed to believe that the ST demand was the core reason for the eruption of such violence in Manipur! Now it is known to all that the ST Demand issue is not all related to the Manipur incidents.
4) NO NATIONAL MEDIA HOUSES REPLIED BACK TO US, except, surprisingly, by the Regional media channel. Seems like YOU DID/DO NOT CARE, & YOU DO NOT WANT TO PUBLISH OUR NARRATIVE THEN (& NOW ALSO).
5) At present, we know you guys are taking sides. Instead of dousing the fire, your insensitivity in publishing your news/opinion articles, & your blindly believing the Kuki propaganda, are adding fuel to the fire. YOU ARE NOT HELPING ANYONE/ANYTHING 4 BRINGING PEACE IN MANIPUR.
6) & U are now writing Articles blaming the 'Meitei-owned' (as u want 2 put it) local Manipuri media during this time. In fact, all the ground reportings & articles, right from May 3, have been being done by our Manipuri media people by risking their lives. YOU GUYS ARE TOO LATE,
with your 'ground reports/articles', which many of them seem straightforward ridiculous with your usual favourite perspectives or narratives of MINORITY-MAJORITY, BJP-anti BJP, Christian-Hindu, etc, etc.
7) Shame on all of you! & How dare you blame our local news reporters & editors, which are 100 times braver & professional than you guys.
8) It is true what Ojaa Bimol Akoijam said in Karan Thapar's interview. "Ignorant people can be changed with facts & figures. Prejudiced people will resist. "
9) It is funny how some of National media enjoy calling your other National channels "Godi Media" while you guys can also be called "Bikaau Media" to your prejudices, biases & saviour-complex.
10) Let's do an analysis of News Reports/Articles on the National Media & press! Let's see how many got published in favour of the Kukis & how many in favour of the Meiteis!
11) Please avoid your condescending/neglecting attitudes to our local reporters & media! WE ALSO CAN CLEARLY SEE WHAT YOU GUYS ARE DOING HERE!
12) Actually, everybody knows the 'perception' war is already tilting towards the Kukis' narratives in mainland India! THANKS TO YOU!
13) Therefore, as you have been sleeping on instead of asking some important questions, these are some tasks & questions for you, when you wake up?
Any National Media people who want to report from Manipur! We challenge you to go to Moreh & do the reporting! Let's see! (Of course not while Amit Shah is visiting there).
Even local Manipuri reporters aren't able to report properly from Moreh! Do you know why, National Bikaau Media???
Dancing & reporting from some valley areas & some parts of Churachandpur don't give you more professional integrity than our local media people!
& What about your editors, who have been promoting Kuki narratives in mainland India?
1) Our Kuki brothers & sisters should have instead demanded to set up licensed Arms & Ammunitions Factories in Lamka & other places! So that they could have become an Arms Supplier Special Economic Zone in the country, with exports or for arms supply to the Army!
2) Seems like Kuki brothers are skillful enough to have all kinds of LOCALLY MADE weapons - snipers, IEDs, pipe bombs, AKs, M16s, etc! Because our tribal village defenders are found to be using these sophisticated weapons!
3) I feel their demand should have been a separate SEZ for Arms Supply! Lamka could have been a highly developed Ordnance Factory (Industrial) Hub like other Indian cities such as Kanpur!
Haha! Karan believes Haokip, but won't agree that an Indian Govt report should be done about the population of Manipur!
Where on earth are you living, Mr Karan? KUKILAND?
I thoroughly enjoyed Ojaa Bimol called out Mr Karan's bias towards Mr Haokip & his causes! Thapar got a thapad! Awesome!
Actually, Mr Nishikanta Sapam also called out Mr Thapar's bias towards Mr Haokip! But, Karan did not simply want to hear Nishikanta's views! Above all, Nishikanta was a little agitated & too much emotional!
1) Mainland Indians & others talking about separation of Manipur are the most amazing creatures on Earth! First, read some more. Ask more people, who know about Manipur. Manipur is not some pie you think you can separate & distribute to each group.
2) There are overlapping areas both claimed by the Nagas & the Kukis. Separation will lead to another conflict. So, please don't put fuel to the fire!
3) And don't ever try to bring Hindutva-Christianity angles. Meitei Christians also ran away from Churachandpur. & Pramot Singh does not represent the whole people of Manipur. (Still don't understand why Mr Thapar keeps on calling people having very strong positions!)
I am still surprised why people think burning a house is more okay than burning a church!
Why shouldn't both be condemned at the same level?
Please give me a convincing reason.
*church or temple or mosque for that matter
Actually, a church/temple/mosque can be built again (if burnt or destroyed) more easily since small contribution from each member of the community means not too much burden on an individual for reconstruction of the church/temple/mosque.
