I’m seeing lots of losers trying to well actually the #ComicsBrokeMe tag but Ian McGinty was the perfect example of how the comic industry takes passionate, loving and excited comic creators and throws them in a meat grinder. He loved to draw and his love and talent was exploited
I think it’s very important and appropriate to mention that it’s not public how Ian passed and frankly that’s no one’s business but it was not a secret that he would constantly post about doing all nighters and crunched on projects. This is our industry and that’s not sustainable
Ian just wanted to pay his bills and make cool shit and make people happy with his art and many companies took advantage of his skillset and passion.
I didn’t know Ian well but I do know that he loved to draw and help and encourage other cartoonists to do so and there’s no way he wouldn’t want the industry to evolve and make things easier for others.

Cyberpunk 2077 for me was kind of just like surface level cool but I recently did this mission where I'm sneaking into an abandoned mall that's filled with roided out cyber-boxers who run up to you and just wail on you and I'm living for that kind of weirdness.
I love when a world feels lived in and that really felt like you stumbled on some weird stuff.
A lot of the ideas and concepts are pretty predictable and par for the course but a lot of the writing (like Witcher 3) feels just really well done and even side missions never feel like an after thought. It all feels consequential to the world
Mindset is very important when creating. I always tell people asking for advice on writing stories to "stay stoked" and I need to remind myself that too.
@danjlevy I live in Chicago and that bar’s entire brand is to throw together a shitty “pop-up” and charge people money to look at shit they printed at Kinkos. It’s super sketch and glad it’s getting called out. They’ve done The Office, Rick and Morty and a ton of others.
@danjlevy This is the same bar that did a “drive through haunted house” where they charged people $75 to have someone in a party city joker mask kick your car
@danjlevy Thank you for calling this out. That place sucks and it always bugged me knowing they made so much money off of ripping off fandoms.
