NEW: I went to Turning Point USA's Young Women's Leadership Summit in Texas this weekend.
Famous career women in right-wing media repeatedly told the audience of college and high school age girls: Give up your dreams to get married and have babies. mediamatters.org/charlie-kirk/c…
This exchange between an audience member and Charlie Kirk really exemplifies the entire weekend.
She tells him she's a student who dreams of being a surgeon and isn't interested in marriage.
Kirk: "You’re going to have to choose which one matters more.”
I think what wasn't brought up at the conference was extremely telling: the indictment of Donald Trump.
News and politics-- these things were relevant to the audience at the YWLS. It was all identity, all the time -- no substance, just aesthetics and grievance.
Alex Clark is a TPUSA influencer and the face of YWLS.
She opened the conference: “Young Women’s Leadership Summit, are you ready to see this degenerate rotten culture that we’ve been living in get a makeover?” Then she compliments everyone's outfits.
Virtually every surface of this conference center was covered in YWLS branded appliqués. It was, frankly, extremely impressive
One detail they failed to vet: a massive pride flag flying outside the hotel, the first thing I saw when I pulled up.
Charlie Kirk addressed this from the stage: “I tried my best to take down the flag everybody. I failed, OK? I’m sorry." The crowd cheered
The only person who spoke multiple times at the conference was masculine alpha male Charlie Kirk.
Women at YWLS tend to be "cliquey" he told them, like "mean girls"
Oh also they were selling these bedazzled gun and FJB purses
A lot of the speakers hit on the same themes, but if one stood out, it was the consistent attacks on transgender people, as usual.
Kirk: "“We have seen an all-out, deliberate, concentrated, non-stop, relentless assault on women in this country” by “creepy, narcissistic freaks"
One of the most bizarre comments was Laura Ingraham talking about Gisele Bündchen. She encourages modesty, except for Bündchen, "who really does look good in a thong bathing suit on the beach? Sorry, you’ve got to be a special type of person who looks good in that.”
I can't emphasize enough how creepy Benny Johnson is in person, telling a group of 18 to 22 year old girls how to "become a woman of value"
"There ain’t nothing wrong with being a trad wife. Being a trad wife’s based. Men love this.” mediamatters.org/media/4007004
Candace Owens closed out day two.
“Every ill that we are fighting right now in society has been brought forth by women.”
She said hyper masculinity created Mussolini and Hitler. Now we're fighting an equal and opposite force: "hyper femininity" mediamatters.org/candace-owens/…
Was Candace Owens invited to speak at YWLS because she's such a great mother? No, of course not. It's because she's famous. And she's famous because she's single-mindedly ambitious and craven.
Same goes for every single other speaker and TPUSA executives.
Behind the scenes, Turning Point USA’s events and marketing leadership are also populated by women. Chief Marketing Officer Marina Minas’ biography says nothing of her achievements in the domestic realm. The same goesfor the vice president of events, Lauren Toncich.
Alex Clark doesn't even have children or a husband, yet she gave a speech on the "The Top 4 Lies of Modern Feminism", which are, according to her, birth control, abortion, fertility care, and day care.
It's a conference for college and high school students.
At YWLS, there was a very narrow vision of what a fulfilled woman is. If that doesn't including giving up everything to have children and marry a Christian man, something is fundamentally wrong with you.
"Patriot Purge" was a highly controversial Fox Nation documentary in which Carlson sought to rehab the architects of the attack on the Capitol, including Ali Alexander and Alex Jones mediamatters.org/fox-nation/tuc…
In part 3 of the "documentary series", Carlson validated Barnett's lawyer Joseph McBride argument that Barnett was encouraged to desecrate Nancy Pelosi's office by two reporters, and defended Barnett carrying a stun gun to the capitol
NEW from me: Russian state TV and American right-wing media are pushing the same line of attack on WNBA player Brittney Griner almost verbatim in the wake of her release.
Multiple right-wing media personalities have pitted Griner’s freedom against that of Paul Whelan, a former Marine who has been accused of espionage by the Russian government. They're saying Griner was released only because she is a Black lesbian
The Daily Beast’s Julia Davis shared a translated clip from Russian TV saying the U.S chose a “black lesbian, hooked on drugs,” over a “decorated Marine” whose “three problems” are that “he is white,” “he is a man,” and “he is a heterosexual.”
The right-wing media has been on a vitriolic hate campaign against Brittney Griner for the last 24 hours.
Deferring to Russia holding her captive, they're winding their audience up with racist, misogynist, and homophobic attacks and labeling her a criminal.
Tucker Carlson said Brittney Griner "hates this country" and was only freed because she is "not white and she's a lesbian" mediamatters.org/tucker-carlson…

Flanked by Holocaust denier Fuentes and neo-Nazi pal Milo, Ye is railing against Jews, as he has been for the last 6 weeks.
Milo blames Jews for the "wretched and wicked" "orthodoxy" of "cancel culture", and credits Ye for bringing this to light.
