GareGoji vs DougheGoji - A comprehensive comparison

Please do not start arguments in the replies/QRTs. If you want to speak up about something you like/dislike about either design, keep it civil. This is simply for educational purposes, not to start drama or arguments.

The most obvious change made in 2019 was the dorsal fins. In 2014, they were made with jagged beach rocks in mind to give the illusion of scale. However, in 2019, the fins were changed, heavily inspired by the sculpt of the ShodaiGoji (1954) suit's dorsal plates.

Another change is the tip of Godzilla's tail. In 2014, it had a whip-like shape. The tip of the tail was sharp and thin. In 2019, the tail is now blunt, sporting a look that resembles the tails of the classic suits.

Next is the shape of the feet. In 2014, Godzilla's feet were made to resemble that of sauropods. The 2019 feet are resembling something more classic. Wider-spread toes with longer, sharpened toenails.

While not too noticable unless you take a look at a few select scenes, Godzilla's head was shrunken down (despite what the folks at Wikizilla might tell you). You won't really notice it until you see the two designs side by side. That's when it becomes obvious.

Godzilla's claws were apparently enlarged. This was because Dougherty thought Godzilla was a predator, so his claws should've been a bit bigger.

Here's the weird one.

In 2014, Godzilla had a 'bulge.' It can be seen on the lower-front of his body. In 2019, this bulge was removed from the design. Though some fans have claimed that it was added back in GvK, it was not. Renderings of the model show that it's still missing.

Of course, Godzilla's height was increased. In 2014, he measured up to 355 feet tall, or 108.2 meters. In 2019, he was sized up to 393 feet, 119.8 meters.

Garegoji had a glossy reptilian sheen, adding an extra touch of realism. Around his body, some dirt and grime had accumulated around the edges of his scales and dorsal fins. The overall coloration of his body was mainly grey, and he also had a tan underbelly.

For KOTM, Godzilla is now much flatter. His tan underbelly is no longer there, and his coloration now consists of a darker color. He has built-up dirt around the scales like he did prior, but instead of being a more yellowish color, they're more pink than anything.

His dorsal fin texture has also changed, In 2014, the fin had a bumpy texture near the base, and a thinner pattern as you went further up the spike. In KOTM, the lines are now much thicker and form a triangular pattern from the center of the fin.
