Helen McEntee the minister for justice is speaking. She is introducing the bill.
She believes that there is a small minority of people who are responsible for hate crime.
According to her victims of crime motivated by hate suffer more trauma.
She says we need to provide a safe, fair and inclusive country.
(Just not for women and children!)
Any criticism of this bill misinformation and is made by fringe commentators, apparently.
She claims that she is not seeking to change any already existing definitions.
(Rubbish)
She says we're not going to illegalise the right to offend people.
(That's literally the whole point of the bill. Does she have any clue about what she is talking about?)
(She is just lying about the contents of the bill.)
Now McEntee is claiming that the bill states there must be evidence of someone's intentions to distribute "hateful" material.
(That's not what the bill says)
(The bill states that if someone is found in posession of "hateful" material it is up to them to prove they did not have any intent to distribute it. What McEntee is saying is false.)
McEntee has gone over time but she is being allowed to continue anyway.
McEntee keeps talking about hate but, like the bill, she has so far failed to provide a definition of hate.
Mullen is asking about what will fall under the category of a hate speech. He asks would this include parents objecting to inappropriate sex education classes or someone carrying a placard saying "men can't breastfeed".
He is worried that the bill will not have the intended consequences of the people who have spoken for it. He also says that it was rushed through the Dáil.
O'Reilly says everyone criticising the bill are talking about theoretical scenarios which might not happen.
(No. If this law is passed it will criminalise saying certain things. People arrested for voicing their opinions. Nothing theoretical about it. It's the point of the bill)
He talks about how the holocaust started with hate speech.
(Is he honestly saying that the next step after saying "transwomen are men" is genocide?)
He doesn't believe that free speech is threatened by hate speech laws.
(Yes it is. Free speech is threatened by limiting what people can say. Does he not understand this?)
McDowell says that this bill needs to be amended. He says that people with unpopular views eg @jk_rowling should be allwed to voice their opinions without the threat of prosecution.
What is happening in Irish secondary schools - a thread of my experiences with gender ideology in my school.
It all began in November 2021 when my school celebrated "Stand Up Week" or "Stand Up Awareness Week".
This week is supposedly set up as a show of support and inclusion for LGBTQ+ people.
In reality, it's about indoctrinating impressionable teens with gender ideology.
Posters were put up everywhere with slogans like "Everyone is Welcome Here". Seems like a nice thing to say, right? But as I soon found out, "Everyone" really meant "Everyone who tows the line to our ideology".
Sexism feels like something that died towards the end of the 20th century. Something that couldn't exist in the "inclusive", "progressive" society that we live in today.
The truth? It's alive, well and rearing its ugly head again.
It's just gotten a rebrand.
Sexism has been given a makeover and wrapped in the trans flag.
Doesn't change a thing though. It will never be inclusive or progressive.
And there will always be people who fight against it.
Women who didn't conform to feminine stereotypes used to be told that they weren't being "proper" women.
Now these women are being told they're actually men.
"Gender identity refers to whether someone feels male or female or something else. It describes how you feel inside, not how you might look on the outside."
What a load of waffle. Every single person on this planet is either a male or a female. There is NO "something else".
The page recommends watching a video- linked below.
It starts with a family talking about how salads used to only have two ingredients, now salads often have lots of exotic ingredients. Cue the family discussing all the different genders these days.
We are women, we are warriors of steel.
Woman is something no man will ever feel.
Woman is not a skill that any man can hone.
Woman is our word and it is ours alone.
I am not a dress to be worn on a whim,
A man in a dress is nonetheless a him.
Women are not simply what we wear.
If this offends you, I do not care.
My speech on gender ideology and the Irish education system from last night. I spoke from the heart and this my best recollection of what I said.
Ireland is often held up as this shining example of Self ID. "Look, there are no problems in Ireland!" This statement could not be further from the truth.
I'm going to talk about the disastrous consequences Self ID and Gender Ideology have had on the Irish education system.
