These last 24 hours have resulted in me getting harrassed and mobbed, LOSING MY PUBLISHING DEAL, and more.
So. I've come out of retirement of indie comics to do the following TWO THINGS
👇👇👇👇👇👇
#1 - I have officially launched SUPER PLUMBER SISTERS #1 on Kickstarter! It's a super fun comic. I always had it planned to launch today...I just didn't think it would be under these circumstances...
#2 - I'll be doing a LIVE STREAM tonight where I make my statement regarding me losing my publishing deal, the events that happened that made this happen, and calling out EVERY CREATOR who tried to play angel in all of this and mobbed the publishers
Now that I'm not beholden to "playing nice" with fellow creators who were published under this banner, I'm now going to name names, show receipts, and showcase what monsters these people are.
The most tolerable people are the most intolerant.
The #ComicsBrokeMe crowd tried to break me. They tried taking the jobs of other creators.
I didn't let them. I was able to save creators jobs in the face of mob attacks...and in doing so...I allowed myself to get canceled.
So. I'll see y'all tonight.
I'm not angry at the publisher or the team. I understand the circumstances.
I'm angry at those who made the situation a situation. And I'm going to call each and every one of you out.
Here are the two tweets that caused all of this.
If THIS is what gets you canceled these days then it goes to show that comics has an industry has more problems then just sales and page rates.
Read BOTH tweets. Is this where the line is drawn in terms of what we CAN/CANT say?
Now that I’m retired from indie comics, I’ve got $200 I want to spend today on some comics and support some dope creators! Drop them links so the community can back some books :)
Dear indie comics creators (this might hurt) but there’s a possibility that no amount of marketing will get sales for your book. 🫢
Here are a couple reasons why:
👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇
#1 - the art just isn’t there. With how big the internet is, the competition is greater than ever. You are literally competing with some of the best.
If your art isn’t on par with what people want, unfortunately you won’t get sales and the only way to fix is to improve or hire
#2 - the writing. I’ve see. A lot of comics where the writing was poor due to rushed concepts, incredible awful pacing, and ultimately not understanding the structure of a comic.
Not just that, but poor direction or lack given to the artist.
