Are there differences of opinion in ‘Aqeedah (belief/creed)?
A Thread 🧵
[Qur’ān]
Allah ﷻ commanded us to follow the Sahabab and gave glad tidings of Jannah to those follow them in goodness.
And Allah ﷻ warned those who follow a path other than the prophet ﷺ & the believers (the Sahabah) and threatened them with Jahanam!
The Deen of Allah is Al-Islam, and it was perfected during the time of the prophet ﷺ
“This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favor upon you and have approved for you Islām as religion.” (5:3)
[Sunnah]
The prophet ﷺ told us that the Ummah will split into 73 sects, only ONE will be in paradise.
The Sahabah said, who are they O Messenger of Allah? He ﷺ said, (those who are upon) what I am and my companions.
The prophet ﷺ warned us that there will be a time with a lot of differing. What was his advise, do not worry you are all upon the truth? No!
He ﷺ said, hold on to my Sunnah and the Sunnah of the Khulafah Rashideen (Abu Bakr, ‘Umar, ‘Uthman, ‘Ali), and be aware of bid’ah!
The prophet ﷺ praised the first three generations (the Salaf as-Salih) and said that they are the best of people.
This shows the preference and high rank of the first three generations.
At the time when ‘Umar رضي الله عنه was the Khalifah, he reminded the people of the command of the Prophet ﷺ:
Stick to what the first generations (Salaf as-Salih) are upon!!
[narrations of the Salaf]
Ibn 'Abbas رضي الله عنه said;
"It is upon you to be upright, follow al-athar (the narrations), and beware of innovating (in religion)."
[Al-Ibanah Al-Kubra, 1/214]
Ibn Mas’ud رضي الله عنه said:
“They, the companions of Muhammad ﷺ, possessed the most pious hearts of this Ummah, were the most profound in knowledge and the least constraint of this Ummah. A people whom Allah ﷻ chose for the companionship of His Prophet ﷺ
and the establishment of His religion. So know their rights and adhere to their guidance, for they indeed were upon the straight way.”
(Jami Bayan al-Ilm wa Fadlih 2/97)
Ibn Mas’ud رضي الله عنه also said:
“We emulate and do not set precedents, we follow and do not innovate, and we will not deviate as long as we hold on to the narrations.”
(Sharh Usul Itiqad Ahl al-Sunnah of al-Lalaka’i, No.115)
Imam Malik رحمه الله said:
"He who innovates an innovation in Islam regarding it as something good, has claimed that Muhammad ﷺ has betrayed his trust to deliver the message as Allah says:
“This day have I perfected for you your religion” (5:3)
And whatsoever was not part of the religion then, is not part of the religion today."
[al-I'tisaam (1/17)]
Imam Al-Awza’i رحمه الله (D. 157H) said:
“Hold fast to the narrations of the Salaf, even if people abandon you. Beware of the opinions of men, no matter how much they beautify it with their speech,
for indeed the matter will become manifest whilst you will be upon the correct straight path concerning it.”
(Al-Madkhal ila al-Sunan of al-Bayhaqi, No.233)
[Speech of the ‘Ulamah]
lbn Taymiyyah رحمه الله said: “There is no criticism for the one who proclaims the way of the Salaf, who attaches himself to it and refers to it.
Rather, it is obligatory to accept that from him by unanimous agreement,
because the way of the Salaf is nothing but the Truth.” [Majmu’ al-Fatawa, 4/449]
Saying that there are differences of opinion in ‘Aqeedah is from the most evil deception!
Whosoever says that the Sahabah differed in ‘Aqeedah is a misguided innovator - Shaykh Salih Luhaydan رحمه الله
You can’t rely upon the Qur’ān and Sunnah without relying upon the understanding of the Salaf.
Shaykh Salih al-Fawzan said:
“If you see a lot of disagreement and you see a lot of sayings, then you should look to that which the salaf were upon and hold on to it because it is the haqq (absolute truth)”
[Sharh Alsunnah 292]
There is no plurality in ‘Aqeedah!
The Salaf were very harsh with regards to newly invented matters
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“I have left you upon a clear path, its clarity is the same by night or day. No one deviates from it after me but that he will be ruined.”
[Sunan Ibn Mājah 44]

- Some prophets had no followers, doesn’t mean that they aren’t upon the truth [1]
- 72 from the 73 sects are in hell [2]
- Most of mankind are in hell [3]
“And if you obey most of those on earth, they will mislead you far away from Allah’s Path” (6:116)
If you look for the words ‘Most people’ in the Qur’ān;
Most people ‘do not know’ (7:187)
… ‘do not give thanks’ (2:243)
… ‘do not believe’ (11:17)
… ‘are heedless’ (5:59)
… ‘persist in ungratefulness’ (25:50)
Can Imam Al-Ghazzali's and Imam Ibn Hazm's View On The Permissibility Of Music Be Used?
All the imams agreed on the soundness of the ahadith which forbid singing and musical instruments, apart from Abu Hamid al-Ghazzali, but they did not have knowledge of hadith. —
— Shaykh al-Albani (رحمه الله) explained where Ibn Hazam went wrong, and Ibn Hazam himself said that if any of (these ahadith) were sahih, he would follow that.
Now that we have proof that these
reports are sahih their stances on this issue are invalid. [1]
