On my way back from #bigspd23 and mulling over the things that have stuck with me...

I liked that Giles Newton How's, president of @ISSPD1 was there. He talked to the idea of "bpd" being problematic as something special in the UK. Hope some of what @BIG_SPD does well stays with him. (Also really liked how wandered all over the room)

I'm thinking about a "trauma informed personality disorder service" and wondering if there's an oxymoron going on somewhere

Hearing "when patients become the treatment" with members/exmembers of the @CasselHospTrust sharing their impact on each other. Made me want to plant therapeutic communities all over the uk

But something will need to change for that to happen. Services want to "do to" people. "Doing with" is too scary right now.

I loved that there were voices at #BIGSPD23 that we wouldn't normally here. I heard lots of stories of people connecting and feeling inspired. I love being a part of a space where that can happen (with 16%+ delegates identifying as having a lived experience background)

I missed both the evening networking events but enjoyed the acoustic evening. We'll do it even better next year.

I'm so glad we got 550 people together. I do wonder if it felt too many at times.

Slightly annoyed that I'm carrying this home, but great to have a cathartic rant with @dan_warrender and @HoppyPelican about the lies told, repeated and absorbed in healthcare.

I'll think of Danny Taggert talking of rhe power of testimony and shudder at the idea of 1 in 10 people living through abuse.

I remember when getting a band 5 lived experience practitioner in our team was impossible. Amazing to see how @melanieanneball has embedded lived experience in a trust and hearing powerfl LX voices describe their work @HoppyPelican & @EllieWildbore

Lastly, great to meet so many people I only know through social media. I always feel guilty at not spending time with more people but really enjoyed connecting with passionate delegates who bring all kinds of perspectives.
