In January 2011, President Goodluck Jonathan government approved Mambila Hydro Power electric construction project at a whooping $37 billion USD to provide just 2600 mw.
On Tuesday 28th August 2017, PMB approved the same project at $5.7 billion USD to provide 3050 megawat and about 100,000 people in some communities would be resettled and out of the same $5.7 billion USD.
Another unique aspect of it is that Chinese Civil ENGINEERING Construction Company (CCECC), who won the project, will contribute 85percent of the fund while just 15 percent will be Nigeria's counterpart funding.
