Hey, #CatholicTwitter: I'm trying to find works by (hopefully translated into English) and more info about a Catholic author of the early to mid 20th century: Fr. Mager, OSB. Works: Mystik als Lehre und Leben, and Theosophie und Christentum. My web search yielded nothing.
Well, as soon as I sent out this tweet, I tried searching with the search terms of that first title up there and Fr Mager OSB and I found something. At last! Fr Alois Mager, OSB, lecturer at Salzburg. Now to find writings of his in English. Why didn't I take German, why, oh, why?
"Hildebrand fled Munich at the time of the Nazi Beer Hall Putsch of 1923, helped by his confessor, Fr Alois Mager, a Benedictine monk who would later be a key figure in the spiritual Gemeinschaft to which Hildebrand, Marguerite Solbrig, & Theodor and Frieda Kern all belonged."
That quote is from this page: "Theodor Kern, Marguerite Solbrig and the ‘Gemeinschaft’"
„Es kann von religiöser Erneuerung in uns selber und in der Welt nicht die Rede sein, wenn mit dem Gebot der Liebe nicht ernst gemacht wird.“
―Alois Mager OSB
"There can be no question of religious renewal in ourselves and in the world if the commandment of love is not taken seriously."
―Alois Mager OSB

"The work of the Holy Spirit in souls is the infusion, nurturing, and perfecting of love."

This is good, I'll post the whole passage.
In his teaching, the Renaissance Pope undoubtedly had in mind the devil in human form, who sows evil everywhere, similar to a poisonous weed, which grows into the following ages and generations. The year the Nuremberg Trials ended,
the Venerable Don Alois Mager, OSB, who was professor of theology at the University of Salzburg, died. His friends later told how, at the time of Hitler's drama in Germany, he spent hours at an open window and, with a cross in his hand, recited exorcisms on the Fuhrer.
Even before that, he made a pilgrimage to Dulmen, where the body of Anna Catherine Emmerich of the Augustinian monastery in Agnentenberg rests, who before her death in 1824 uttered this prophetic vision:
"In the center of Hell is an abyss of darkness into which Lucifer was cast in chains. It happened in accordance with God's will.
I learned that Lucifer will be released for a certain time, which will happen fifty or sixty years before the year two thousand from the birth of Christ." So the visionary was referring to the rise and fall of Adolf Hitler.
What set me on this search, you may ask? His name pops up all through a book I'm reading for the third time and the author says Fr. Mager over and over and I wanted to know more about him.
It occurs to me that I left untranslated a word up there in the tweet about Fr Mager and Dietrich von Hildebrand. The word is Gemeinschaft and it can mean fellowship. I'll go with that. I haven't read that article yet, just that one passage I quoted.
I guess I could give the translation I found of his two titles. Okay, there's Mysticism as Teaching and Life, and Theosophy and Christianity. He also wrote one on Anthroposophy, you know, Rudolf Steiner, Waldorf school & all that. I tried to read Steiner, he made my brain hurt.
Ooh, here's a good one. "Fr. Alois Mager, OSB (1883-1946), a German specialist in mysticism who lived through the horrors of Nazism, shows the connection between Satan and National Socialism."
Quoting the article: Taking the words of Our Lord that define the devil as a murderer and liar, he says:
These are the two signs which characterize the satanic: lying and murder. Now lying and murder are the expression of the essence of National Socialism. Never before have they been committed so entirely for their own sake with such cold premeditation,
in so passionless a reflex, and with such complete fanaticism, as being the motive power of the life of a whole nation.
"The Nazis exploited men’s unruly passions, a consequence of Original Sin, to impose their power: 'A radical sexual amorality was extolled in the schools, in the Hitler Youth camps, in the ‘Ordensburgen’ [training schools for Nazi leaders] and in the S.S. barracks.'”
"The learned scholar explains that when man fails to fight his unruly tendencies but instead cultivates them, he opens the doors to the devil:
'These doors are set open when man, consciously and experimentally, lets himself be guided by the impulse of the triple result of original sin in thought, will and action. This is what makes man a slave; this is what fetters him in the use of his liberty.'”
The article quotes Fr Mager several times. The whole thing is worth reading. I've just skimmed it and saved it to read later. I really would like to have some of his writings in English.
A page with many titles by Fr Mager, in German, of course. But using I can see the translation with Safari. (I keep forgetting that extension is there. Pretty handy.)
That's all for now. I need to read what I found and make some notes. The connection between satanism, nazism, communism, feminism, theosophy, the gender agenda, and the occult in general keeps coming up in my reading. Our ancient enemy has many tentacles & they've all been busy.
Okay, one more, just found this: The Tightrope (Between Two Worlds), 90 Years of Venio A History in Pictures.

interview with Fr. Joseph Iannuzzi, concerning the alleged messages of Fr. Rodrigue provides strong theological and pastoral confirmation of the 10 point negative assessment provided earlier by Dr. Mark Miravalle

In honor of the Queen of Rock's death, a video thread. First up, from the Princes Trust Rock Gala 1987. Lemme tell ya, the energy went to a whole new level when this lady entered from stage left. I wore out the VHS tape I had.
This one I've only discovered tonight, gonna watch it on the Roku instead of the laptop. All I can say is, how did she keep her voice all these years? How did she keep dancing like that as long as she did?
