Now a time of reflection before praying the Rosary.
God, come to my assistance.
— Lord, make haste to help me.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us!
Psalm 36
The malice of sinners and God’s goodness
No follower of mine wanders in the dark; he shall have the light of life (John 8:12).
Sin speaks to the sinner in the depths of his heart. There is no fear of God before his eyes.
He so flatters himself in his mind that he knows not his guilt.
In his mouth are mischief and deceit. All wisdom is gone.
He plots the defeat of goodness
as he lies on his bed.
He has set his foot on evil ways,
he clings to what is evil.
Your love, Lord, reaches to heaven, your truth to the skies.Your justice is like God’s mountain, your judgments like the deep.
To both man & beast you give protection.O Lord, how precious is your love.My God, the sons of menfind refuge in the shelter of your win
They feast on the riches of your house; they drink from the stream of your delight. In you is the source of life & in your light we see light.
Keep on loving those who know you, doing justice for upright hearts.
See how the evil-doers fall! Flung down, they shall never rise.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit:
— as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen.
Antiphon: In you is the fountain of life; we drink from the streams of your goodness.
Psalm 61
Prayer of an exile
The prayer of the just man who places his hope in the things of heaven (Saint Hilary).
O God, hear my cry!Listen to my prayer! From the end of the earth I call:my heart is faint.
On the rock too high for me to reach set me on high, O you who have been my refuge, my tower against the foe.
Let me dwell in your tent for ever and hide in the shelter of your wings. For you, O God, hear my prayer, grant me the heritage of those who fear you.
May you lengthen the life of the king:
may his years cover many generations.
May he sit ever enthroned before God:
bid love and truth be his protection.
So I will always praise your name
and day after day fulfill my vows.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit:
— as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen.
Ant. When my heart grew faint, you raised me up
The Magnificat, The Blessed Virgin Mary’s Great Canticle, Luke 1:46-55.
Antiphon: The Lord has lifted us up and drawn us to his heart, for he has remembered his promise of mercy, Alleluia.
What we’re up against is more than a political problem, it’s much larger, deeper, and ancient, it’s a spiritual problem.
Please pray for the repose of the soul of Bishop Macram Gassis. I watched him on EWTN on The World Over a few times. He loved God and the Nigerian people very much.
