Thoughts in light of the DASA Amendments:
Many were sent back to presbyteries without prejudice for more work. I’d encourage men to take up that charge. As it relates to O13 on atheist counsel, the minority truly failed to sway the majority. #pcaga

I was a soft “no” on O13 and could have been swayed by the minority to vote for it. The minority report was well written (thanks @trevorilaurence), but it wasn’t well argued on the floor. Instead of appealing to the logic of the report,

I was given an appeal to emotion and an appeal to authority. These sorts of arguments dissuade me from voting with ANYONE (no matter the topic). IMO, it was unwise for the minority to leverage the work of the DASA committee (to disagree with me is to disagree with all of DASA)
3/
And it was unwise to pressure the assembly with “bad press” for disagreeing. Instead, I’d rather have the minority offer the assembly the merits of such change to our BCO. The plane was grounded before take off by the minority report’s appeal to emotion and authority.

I don’t believe the results from GA mean that the PCA is unwilling to protect victims. These merely weren’t the solutions to that end. Listen to both Dowling and LeCroy. The argument wasn’t pro-abuse and anti-abuse. Dare I say, it was a nuanced discussion.
5/
IMO, when it comes to controversial and substantive change in my fair denomination, we are slow. It took us 5 years to solve this sexuality issue, but we got it RIGHT. I’m glad by the result. It may take us a few years of refinement to get this right.
6/
As the grassroots PCA statistician, even if the minority prevailed, it would have struggled in the presbyteries (barring divine intervention). The silver lining here is that instead of fighting an uphill battle for it’s passage, we can now focus our energy on more refined work.
