An in depth thread of Burton Albion and 11 players I think they should sign. They need a big summer and below is how I think they could. (🧵) #bafc #Burton

Burton Albion currently only have eight players under contract although they have offered new deals to a further eight players.

So with none of them currently confirmed and 3/8 players playing the same/similar position, I am going to go through 11 possible signings I think would suit Burton Albion and help them kick on next season.

Starting with two 𝗚𝗼𝗮𝗹𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀 that I was actually requested to look at two by a Burton Albion fan.

First 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝘅𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗹, he has experience and having been released by Blackpool needs a club, I think he will have many clubs after him but if Burton pulled it off he would be a good number one at L1 level

Second option is 𝗟𝗼𝘂𝗶𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗻. I imagine it would be a loan deal from Wolves as the youngster has impressed with his two loan moves so far in NLS and NL.

Onto the 𝗟𝗕 option, they was a couple that caught my eye - but no more than another Blackpool player who was released and that’s 𝗟𝘂𝗸𝗲 𝗚𝗮𝗿𝗯𝘂𝘁𝘁, experienced and would be a good fit in a team that’s got one of the better managers in L1 in my opinion.

Now 𝗖𝗕𝘀 we’ve looked at two of them with the first one being 𝗞𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝘁𝘀, maybe an outside chance but he’s 23 years old and is looking for regular game time that Newcastle can’t offer him. He played Under Dino at Stevenage so knows him well.

The second 𝗖𝗕 I have down is 𝗦𝗮𝗺 𝗠𝗰𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱, a very impressive loan at Barrow and has now been released by Chelsea. Very good ball playing CB who I believe will play in the Premier League one day.

The final 𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 I have in my list is recently released 𝗙𝗮𝗻𝗸𝗮𝘁𝘆 𝗗𝗮𝗯𝗼, I think he will drop down a division and it just makes sense to me, get him consistent playing time and he’s one of the leagues best fullbacks.

Onto the 𝗺𝗶𝗱𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱 now and it’s another man who was once tipped to go to the top and it’s recently released Arsenal man 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘄 𝗦𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗵. He’s enjoyed loan spells in the past in L1 and the ball playing midfielder would be a welcomed addition.

The wingers were actually hard to pick, but I managed to pick two that I feel make sense who can play inside and outside.

First 𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 is 𝗦𝘂𝗹𝗹𝗮𝘆 𝗞𝗮𝗶𝗸𝗮𝗶, he’s versatile but also when he’s playing his best football on the wing is a joy to watch, I think Dino could get the best out of Sullay if he was to go to Burton.

The second 𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 is 𝗢𝗹𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗱𝗶𝗽𝗼, he’s had some of his best seasons in L1 and although numbers didn’t show that last season I thought he was a decent player with Lincoln. I think a permanent move to Burton now he’s a free agent would be a sensible move.

I looked at many 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀 and the two I went with are both young and perhaps risks but I think they would be good signings.

Firstly after the loan of Taylor from Forest last season I think there’s an opportunity to get another good young 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗸𝗲𝗿 on loan from there and that’s 𝗗𝗲𝘁𝗹𝗲𝗳 𝗢𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗴. The 18 year old Striker scored 7 goals in 10 U18 games last season and looks to have a very… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…

Finally 𝗠𝗶𝗽𝗼 𝗢𝗱𝘂𝗯𝗲𝗸𝗼, the striker has been released by West Ham but I still feel has a bright future in the game. He’s had loans in L1 before and think a permanent home would help him perform better.

This was really hard to do - as I’ve tried to stay original and also realistic, whatever business Burton do it needs to be in numbers if the players don’t stay

I expect a big summer and it will need to be for Burton Albion to progress from last season.
