It's time for many of these so-called anime/JRPG "fans" to admit, that they have outgrown much of the media they've once consumed. If you feel "icky" over seeing a romance option for a teenage character, or seeing half-naked chicks, it's time to move onto a different genre. 
Guys, i hate to break it to you, but your favorite Battle Shonen manga, was only made to appeal to teenage boys. I guarantee you, that half of you are reaching, or halfway through your 40's, aren't the target demographics for the majority of Japanese pop culture.
Now that doesn't mean that you can't still enjoy a good segment of Japanese media, but that means you're going to have to step out of the kiddie pool & actually get into the hardcore stuff. I'm talking about Sienen, Josei, or even eroge. The stuff, that appeals to YOUR age group!
