As Russia's invasion of Ukraine goes on, we are continuing to map incidents that have resulted in potential civilian harm as a result of the ongoing war on our Civilian Harm Map. ukraine.bellingcat.com/?range=2022-03…
With each incident is a source link. Content that is graphic has been flagged as such. Where possible, we have made an effort to protect the identities of the publishers and those featured in the footage by obscuring the location slightly and removing personal information.
We are attempting to collect as many incidents as possible, however what is shown on the map is only a snapshot of the damage done to civilian infrastructure.
Many of these incidents were geolocated by our fantastic @bellingcatgap volunteers. The Global Authentication Project consists of a wide community of open source researchers assisting in Bellingcat research through structured tasks and feedback.
@bellingcatgap We welcome feedback on the map and our methodology. If you have any serious concerns or suggestions you can fill out this feedback form here: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAI…
@bellingcatgap Bellingcat’s data is also used by @Cen4infoRes for their ‘Eyes On Russia’ project. The aim is to collect and verify media related to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine to provide journalists, NGOs, policymakers and the public access to trustworthy information. eyesonrussia.org
@bellingcatgap @Cen4infoRes You can read a breakdown of the reasons behind the CIR map and it’s methodology from @BenDoBrown on our site here bellingcat.com/news/2022/02/2…

A number of individuals have contacted us regarding messages received via email, WhatsApp and Telegram from an “Alexandra Raine”, claiming to be working for Bellingcat and offering payment for information. This person is not Alexandra Raine, nor are they working for Bellingcat.
The messages claim they “were advised by a very influential contact, who spoke well of you”, that they’re preparing a “series of investigations” and "are interested in paying for information".
It is unclear who is behind this, but they are using multiple profiles and phone numbers, and contacting people from a variety of backgrounds who have worked on issues related to Ukraine and Russia.
