The College Football world doesn't talk enough about how bad the BIG is after Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State. (a thread)
In 2022, The BIG eastern division - outside of the big three - was a combined 10-26 in conference play, or a measly .277 win percentage.

In 2022, The BIG western division was a combined 29-35 in conference play, a .453 win percentage.
in 2021, The BIG eastern division - outside of the big three - was a combined 12-24 in conference play, or a measly .333 win percentage.

In 2021, The BIG western division was a combined 31-32 in conference play, a .492 win percentage.
The BIG fans will spew delusions like "The BIG schedule is so hard, we just beat each other up!" but reality is that the BIG strength of schedule was atrocious in 2022. The average SOS ranking by all BIG teams was 36th.
In contrast the 2022 average SOS ranking by the BXII was 12th.

The 2022 avg SOS rankings by the SEC was 22nd.

The 2022 avg SOS rankings by the WAC12, err PAC12 was 47th. (yes even more atrocious than the "BIG")
All 12 of the BXII teams had a more difficult schedule last season than the entire BIG w/ the exception of Penn State and Ohio State.

And the mighty Wolverines that won the BIG, but lost to the BXII runner up? Their SOS was easier than every single BXII team last season.
No surprise that the Wolverines were not ready for the CFP after playing the 30th most difficult schedule. But what is a surprise is that anyone considers the BIG one of the "Power 2" when all they bring to the party outside of the top 2-3 teams is TV sets.
And don't be fooled...this year's Michigan will be the Iowa Hawkeyes. They have a servicable team (good OL and defense) but they are being pimped like a world beater because they play a MAC schedule in 2023.
The mighty Hawkeyes will avoid Michigan and Ohio State, but instead will dine on Eastern Michigan and Utah State. Their other OOC game is vs an Iowa State team that finished in last place in the BXII and will likely be without a QB due to a gambling scandal.
It is important to note though, that the BXII's last place ISU Cyclones beat Iowa last season. So despite Iowa's 2023 slate featuring teams that went a combined 52-73 outside of Penn State, it's possible they will shit the bed despite being pimped as a top 5 team in 2023.
So the BIG media will fluff up the entire BIG again this year, because they have a vested business interest in the fanbases being engaged and excited, and consuming college football media for the entire season. Meanwhile reality is that Big10 will once again just be the Big 3.
Wash, rinse, repeat.
