Can confirm. I was drawn into a debate about military service and accidentally said it was my grandfather and not his brother who perished in WWII, and they’ve hung me out to dry with that error. 1/
First, when asked about my family’s service, I consistently reply with “we lost my dad to exposure to agent orange when he was 46, we lost my great uncle over Germany in WWII, and my grandpa was on the Gregory when it sank at Guadalcanal.” 2/
I’ve told my grandpas story a zillion times and have shared articles about it. He went down to the after steering room and manually operated the rudders until he was forced to abandon. Here’s an example and the article. 3/
And here’s what happened to his brother-in-law, my great uncle Fritz who was a pilot KIA. Turns out it was Rumania, not Germany - which is what grandpa always told us. 4/
But a sock account drew me into a debate because he insisted that non-combat vets like me don’t count. It appears I got distracted and left out the part about Fritz, accidentally attributing his fate to my grandpas. Here’s that erroneous tweet. 5/
I figured it would be obvious to the average person that OF COURSE we didn’t lose grandpa or none of us would be here. But regardless, trolls took this mistake and decided to convince people that my entire life is a lie and I can’t be trusted for anything. 6/
So the lesson is DO NOT DEBATE THE TROLLS. I’m so guilty of that in the past because they draw me in with stuff that personally stings. So if you think my entire body of work is suspect because the wrong family member died heroically in the war, I don’t really care. END/

Let’s game it out. Let’s say Garland appointed a special counsel in November of 2021. That’s when Graves was sworn in as US Attorney in DC & Olsen was sworn in as NATSEC AAG at DoJ. That’s the FIRST TIME Garland had HIS team of Biden appointees to prosecute the top of the coup 2/
It would be kinda weird to hire a special counsel the same month your team finally got there. That team - btw - was delayed by republicans in congress. Not Garland or Biden. So why didn’t Garland get the ball rolling earlier in 2021 between March and November? 3/
Today’s Washington Post reporting contradicts Washington Post reporting from March 2022 that subpoenas for info on the leadership of the coup had been going out since Jan 2022. 1/ washingtonpost.com/national-secur…
The same day, the times reported the subpoenas included info on the fraudulent electors scheme. So it’s impossible that the FBI didn’t open an investigation until March 2022 as reported today by Wapo. 2/ nytimes.com/2022/03/30/us/…
It’s is *possible* the subpoenas were triggered by Michigan criminal referrals. But it’s not likely that DoJ would start issuing subpoenas the same week the referrals were made in January. END/
I’m going to say this one more time for clarity. Some folks seem to think there can be only two positions: that Garland is either a faultless messiah beyond reproach, or that he’s a federalist shill installed by dark forces to help trump. 1/
I’m not sure when nuance died, but reality is somewhere in between. Many seem to mistakenly think I fall squarely in the first camp. Perhaps those folks have missed the multiple times I’ve criticized Garland. Take this thread for example. 2/
BREAKING: THREAD: Wow! JP Cooney (who was investigating the trump PACs for Garland and now works for Jack Smith) wanted to open a probe into the top of the coup before Garland even got there. The FBI and MIKE SHERWIN shut him down. 1/
"In February 2021, Cooney took his proposal to investigate the ties with people in Trump’s orbit directly to a group of senior agents in the FBI’s public corruption division." 2/
"The plan called for a task force to embark on a wide-ranging effort, including seeking phone records for Stone as well as Alexander. He was urging investigators to probe the connection between Stone & the Oath Keepers, who were photographed together outside the Willard hotel" 3/
THREAD: Oh, but let me tell you how UN-politicized Garland’s DoJ is.
People on the right are crying foul, saying Joe Biden and Merrick Garland are going after trump for political reasons.
Are they though?
Not even close. 1/
First, it was Acting Attorney General Rosen - left over from the trump administration- that OPENED the non-partisan DoJ IG investigation into former DoJ officials’ potential interference in the peaceful transfer of power. That probe was opened BEFORE Garland got there. 2/
Then in October of 2021, Garland swore under oath to congress that he would accept the recommendations of that DoJ IG probe - meaning that probe was still ongoing in the fall of 2021. 3/
THREAD: ANATOMY OF AN OP: HOW SAUDI-BACKED TWITTER IS SILENCING VALUABLE VOICES IN SCIENCE, ACADEMICS, AND POLITICS:
Follow me on a journey down a troll op rabbit hole. Here’s how it works:
STEP ONE: Lure you into a debate. 1/
They do this by either creating anonymous accounts & targeting topics you care about, or by bribing you into debate with $$ or a large platform.
The purpose is to ask misleading questions designed to elicit a specific response they can use out of context to discredit you. 2/
Once they have those out-of-context replies that appear to contradict your in-context assertions, they mobilize a digital army using DM "war rooms" to FLOOD your tweets with replies containing their farmed "gotcha" moments. If you don't debate, they call you a coward. 3/
