#2 Dr. Fauci and Dr. Hotez's R01AI098775 grant, amounting to over $1 million per year, supports Dr. Hotez's project titled "RBD Recombinant Protein-Based SARS Vaccine for Biodefense," with Dr. Jiang Shibo listed as a Principal Investigator.

#3 Dr. Jiang Shibo, a professor at Fudan University, completed his Master's degree from the People’s Liberation Army's Guangzhou First Military Medical University (广州第一军医大学) and his Medical Doctor degree from Xi'an Fourth Military Medical University (西安第四军医大学微).

#4 From 1990 to 2010, Dr. Jiang Shibo led the Viral Immunology Laboratory at the New York Blood Center while also serving as a visiting professor at the PLA's First and Fourth Military Medical University and their Academy of Military Medical Sciences (AMMS).

#5 Dr. Jiang Shibo, a member of China's Thousand Talents Plan, also collaborated with PLA scientists on numerous scientific papers. A 2020 FBI report suggests that such plans “usually involve undisclosed and illegal transfers of information, technology, or intellectual property.”

#6 Together with Dr. Zhou Yusen, a distinguished People's Liberation Army officer and virologist, Dr. Jiang Shibo co-invented multiple U.S. patents and published numerous scientific papers on SARS and MERS coronaviruses, often with the support of NIAID funds.

#7 Dr. Zhou Yusen, a former director of the PLA's AMMS Laboratory of Pathogen and Biosecurity at the Beijing Institute of Microbiology and Epidemiology, filed the world's first patent application for a COVID-19 vaccine in China on February 24, 2020.

#8 The patent application, filed just a month after China acknowledged human-to-human transmission, listed Dr. Zhou Yusen as the lead inventor and was submitted by the People's Liberation Army's Academy of Military Medical Sciences.

#9 Meanwhile, concerns surrounding a lab origin of COVID-19 intensified when examining the furin cleavage site.

#10 SARS-CoV-2 has a unique furin cleavage site (FCS) at the S1/S2 junction, which has been previously associated with increased infectivity in engineered coronaviruses. Notably, Dr. Jiang Shibo is one of the few experts in the world at FCS insertion in coronaviruses.

#11 Dr. Jiang Shibo and Dr. Du Lanying, another prominent Chinese virologist funded by Dr. Hotez’s R01AI098775 grant, have also collaborated on various scientific papers with the PLA’s AMMS and the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

#10 Dr. Du Lanying also happens to be the widow of Dr. Zhou Yusen, the PLA officer who filed the world's first patent application for a COVID-19 vaccine, only to be reportedly thrown off the roof of the Wuhan Insitute of Virology three months later.

#13 Before migrating to the U.S. and receiving funding from Dr. Fauci and Dr. Hotez, Dr. Du Lanying co-published research on SARS-coronaviruses with Dr. Jiang Shibo and Dr. Zhou Yusen for the People's Liberation Army's Academy of Military Medical Sciences.

#18 Notably, in 2013, Dr. Shibo and Dr. Lanying, along with their Chinese military colleagues, demonstrated the artificial insertion of a furin cleavage site. This study was funded by the Chinese government, while both doctors also received funding from Dr. Fauci's NIAID.

#19 A 2015 study published by Dr. Shibo, Dr. Lanying, Dr. Zhengli, and Dr. Ralph Baric, an American scientist considered a pioneer in gain-of-function research, demonstrates the insertion of a furin cleavage site in the S1/S2 junction astonishingly similar to the COVID-19 virus.

#20 During a 2021 interview, Dr. Hotez acknowledged his collaboration with Dr. Shibo and Dr. Lanying, stating, "About ten years ago, we got approached by a group at the New York Blood Center led by Shibo Jiang and Lanying Du that had a pretty good idea for coronavirus vaccines."

#21 In 2022, Dr. Hotez criticized congressional hearings on the origins of COVID-19, stating that they are “inviting fringe elements to testify and promote outlandish conspiracy theories,” even warning that investigations will “undermine the fabric of science in America.”
