This is disappointing not only bc of the both-sideism, but bc it blatantly sidesteps the fact that "gender critical" theories are directly aligned with fascist ideology, and that most of these women are directly associated with nazis, or are nazis themselves.
The media has a responsibility to not publish propaganda. That's it. That's all this debate comes down to. Don't publish propaganda. Especially propaganda that will cause direct harm on a vulnerable community.
Propaganda is biased, misleading information that promotes a specific ideology. "Gender critical theory" is deeply biased, based on misinformation disguised as science, and is a direct promotion of fascism, specifically body and gender policing, and eugenics.
You simply can't "both sides" propaganda, because one side is facts, and the other side is a deliberate attempt to erase those facts and wrangle power and authority through a promotion of fear.
And I'm sorry, but if you work in the media and you don't understand this media studies 101 shit, you shouldn't be working in the media.
There is *so much room* to discuss gender & elevate our understandings of it, we've been doing it for literal centuries, but these discussions should never serve an intention to misinform and cause harm. There are better ways, and better minds, and better theories to engage with.
