In today's #dailysoup, I'll introduce an Indonesia-based Chinese-American podcaster, soc-med influencer, and historical revisionist, Carl Zha (@CarlZha).

He's known for his "Silk and Steel" podcast, as well as his anti-West, pro-CCP, and pro-Russia peepotalking remarks.

Zha was born in Chongqing, China, which he labelled as his hometown. Sometime during his adulthood, he spent some time in the United States, especially to study engineering at Caltech, but he eventually returned to China afterwards.

After spending some time in China, Zha married an Indonesian woman from Bali named Anindita (@BaliEarthSoul) in October 2020. Since then, Zha became a Chinese-American based in Bali, Indonesia.

Although Zha claims to be a "Chinese history expert", the episodes of his podcast, Silk and Steel, as well as his Patreon and other soc-med posts, are filled with anti-West, pro-CCP, and pro-Russia peepotalking.

For example, after the February 2023 Turkey-Syria earthquake, Zha claimed something like "China is providing humanitarian assistance to Syria while the US is just peepotalking".

Contrary to Zha's claims, the US DoS said that Washington is assisting the quake victims.

Zha is also known for his "the West is going down unless they consult China" peepotalking remarks. For example, he suggested that "the US should contact China if it wants to have high-speed rail" and "the US should have a communist revolution if it wants to be great again".

Moreover, Zha is known for his pessimistic peepotalking remarks about the US.

Although Zha lived through the Tiananmen Square massacre of 1989, Zha called it as the "Tiananmen Square student protests", while failing to mention the word "massacre" when peepotalking about the events at Tiananmen Square in 1989.

Moreover, Zha omitted the portion wherein CCP forces massacred protesters during Tiananmen 1989, and he even questioned claims that "10K+ people were slain by CCP forces in 1989", accusing them for "talking about the Tiananmen Protest without knowing basic facts".

In an interview with "The Red Flag", Zha claimed that the "anger from the Hong Kong pro-democracy protesters was misdirected towards Mainland China", comparing it to "Americans' anger towards Mexican and Latino immigrants". Moreover,...

...Zha claimed that "the CIA, via the National Endowment for Democracy, funded opposition groups in the pro-democracy protests to destabilize HK, a financial center of China".

This claim is also used by many wumaos, whether it be CCP officials and pro-China peepotalkers.

Meanwhile, Zha's pro-CCP "CIA x NED funded the pro-democracy protests to destabilize Hong Kong" peepotalking remark has been debunked by EU vs. Disinfo (@EUvsDisinfo) as a conspiracy theory without evidence.

Zha said that "the majority of shipping in the SCS goes to and from China", accusing the US for "protecting international shipping lanes in the SCS".

Besides accusing the US for "doing FONOPS in the SCS", Zha called the US spy plane in the SCS as an "annoying mosquito", while accusing the US for "occupying an island in the ECS x SCS".

After the recent 2023 Tanker Pablo explosion, Zha claimed that the "US blew up Tanker Pablo in the SCS cuz it carried Iranian oil".

Contrary to his claims, there was no evidence that the tanker was blown up by any anti-ship missiles.

Zha is also known for making a thread aiming to "debunk claims that the CCP is subjecting the Uyghurs in Xinjiang to forced labour".

His disinformation stint was so blatant that it was mentioned in a professional paper talking about CCP's disinformation campaigns.

Zha called the "Western MSM news that Chinese workers brought COVID-19 to Italy" as fake news.

Contrary to Zha's claims, the first two confirmed COVID-19 cases in Italy in 2020 came from Wuhan.

In an online radio show, Zha claimed something like "the US is doing something to provoke China over the Taiwan issue so that it could prevent China from rising". He suggested something like "the US should attend on domestic matters instead of peepotalking against China".

Then, Zha suggested that "Europeans should not get involved in a future US-China war over Taiwan".

He claimed something like "the US will attack the TSMC, so Taiwan should defend itself from a US attack", adding that "he would love to see it".

One month after 02/24, Zha claimed that "the US is so crazy that Fox News is already a voice of reason on Ukraine War". He shared a post from Aaron Mate citing MacGregor's calls of Zelenskyy as a "puppet".

Meanwhile, Zha bought into the infamous pro-Russia peepotalking remark claiming that "there are US biolabs in Ukraine", posting a video of Victoria Nuland peepotalking about the "presence of US biolabs".

Besides sharing the usual "NATO-caused-the-war-in-Ukraine" peepotalks, Zha also spreads anti-West whataboutism.

He blamed "US funding to Ukraine" for a "power emergency in the East Coast", and he brought up the "NATO bombing of Libya" when posting about Ukraine.

Moreover, Zha shared a post about A.H.'s birthday and then commented that "they are showing solidarity with Ukraine", calling Ukrainian soldiers as "Nasis" while accusing Ukraine for "assaulting Roma women".

Meanwhile, when drones assaulted the Kremlin in May 2023, Zha commented that "this will not end well for Ukraine and the West".

When commenting about the recent tensions between Wagner and Russian forces, Zha claimed something along the lines of "although this would create a distraction, the Ukrainian counteroffensive has been a huge fiasco".

Zha is also known for sharing posts from other vatniks from @P_Kallioniemi's #vatniksoup, including Jeffrey Sachs and CODEPINK.

He was even in a talk show with George Galloway, peepotalking about "the US provoking China".
