The dark side of NFTs:

A throwback to the worst art reveals in web3 history🧵👇

(1/22)
1. Pixelmon

Pixelmon was marketed as the "highest quality game the NFT space has ever seen."

They made $70 million from their mint.

But then their NFTs revealed...
And they looked nothing like what the team marketed 💀

It was horrible 😂

One person minted a Pixelmon NFT and got literally nothing 🤦
2. Game of Thrones

Game of Thrones is a popular TV show watched by millions of people.

So it was no surprise their NFTs sold out within the first day.
But then Game of Thrones NFTs revealed.

And they looked terrible 💀
One of the worst cash grabs I've ever seen 😂
3. Atomic Ordinals

Atomic Ordinals was created by an influencer named Elena.

She encouraged people to buy her NFTs for $1,500 as a way to support her for her “endless contributions” to Web3.

But there was a problem...
It turns out she stole the art 🤦‍♂️😂
She even copied the Minecraft slime ball 💀

Her response was that she copied the art because she liked the way it looked 🤦
4. Hape Prime

Hape was one of the most hyped NFT mints of all time.

Their floor price hit ~$30k pre-reveal 🤯
But then the Hape NFTs revealed and there were problems 😂
Which became a viral meme on NFT twitter 😂
5. Mekaverse

Mekaverse was the first insanely hyped mint.

At the time they were worth more than Mutant Ape Yacht Club 🤯

But then they revealed...
And Mekaverse didn't live up to the hype.

Many of them looked exactly the same 😂

The floor price immediately crashed.

People were selling there Mekaverse for a $10,000 loss just days after they minted 😮
6. Elementals

Elementals was created by Azuki.

And it's some of the best art in web3.

So what's the problem?
Well they look exactly like Azuki's original collection 😂
This decreases the demand for Azuki.

Why spend $15k on an Azuki when you can spend $2k on an Elemental and get basically the same art.
Thanks for reading!🙏

Here's everything that went wrong with the Azuki mint today🧵👇

(1/10)
1. Mint window

Azuki holders only had 10 minutes to mint.

This overloaded the website with traffic causing the site to have errors.

Which prevented many people from minting.
Even some of the biggest Azuki whales weren't able to mint today 😔

1. The Saudis trade

Farokh minted 10 Saudi NFTs.

And sold them all just a few hours later for a total profit of 30 ETH.

However, some people were calling this a pump and dump. Image
But did Farokh actually pump the Saudis before selling?

Well, let's see...

1. Otherside mint

Otherside was the biggest mint of all time.

Tens of thousands of people with hundreds of millions of dollars were waiting to mint.

However, there was a big problem... Image
Over $150 million worth of ETH was lost to gas fees due to failed transactions.

And even the people who were able to mint spent up to $7,000 in gas fees to do so. Image
