There is no dignity in an old age for western women. In more traditional societies, women gain power as they age. You have an entire army of men doing your bidding if you are matriarch of large family, you get to boss around your daughters in law. People fear and respect you
Women in the west have power while they are young and beautiful. But even the ones who marry and have kids have to see their kids move away across the country. They barely see their grandchildren and kids only visit on important holidays.
This is not a trad post. After all, I chose western individualism Over this dynamic myself. But we probably should figure out a way to offer people more dignity at an old age. You don’t have to send your parents to a nursing home, it is good when grandparents bond with their
Grandchildren and feel useful, generational continuity is good.
