LET'S TALK ABOUT A CERTAIN PUBLISHER
(A Thread)

How's it going everyone! My name is Monitor Comics, I am a YouTuber and Comic Artist

I previously worked with a certain manga publisher you all might know!

About a month or two ago I left, And now I want to tell you all why!
ORIGIN STORY
Let's get the sappy stuff out of the way first,

I first heard about this comic publisher YEARS ago through 2 YouTubers that founded the company

I was a big fan of the mission, bought all of the books, supported all of the events, entered the contests, etc
It was a dream come true when I was selected to participate in their annual One-Shot competition.

It was literally so cool to meet the artists that I looked up to and wanted to be like

I was PROUD to yell to the world that I was an artist for them.
When I got into the company, I was originally told I was going to be in the SEINEN BRANCH

I was working on a horror-type story with an editor who ghosted me and was late getting feedback back to me

He eventually took a job at Noir Ceasar and I was left in limbo
Since I was still in high school at the time, this was fine with me.

Eventually, a new group of artists was picked up from their annual one-shot contest and I was asked to join their WEBCOMIC BRANCH with a different story idea
The story idea I had was simple: a boy who has the power to bring his artwork to life

I wanted the story to be a love story for everyone who has been told to give up on art and become a "lawyer, engineer, or doctor in the future."

I would eventually come to despise this comic
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
I am a Mexican-American artist who was adopted at birth by two Italian-American parents.

Diversity is something I CARE ABOUT.

In University, I did 4 YEARS of activist work at our Center for Gender Equity, Pride Center, and Office of Multicultural Affairs
I have also taken SEVERAL Gender-Studies classes to learn more about the LGBT Community and Gender-Based issues

I don't claim to be a professional or anything, and I DO IDENTIFY as cisgender heterosexual. My pronouns are HE/HIM/HIS

This comic publisher felt PERFECT for me!
WORKING WITH THE COMPANY
At first, everything felt great!

We were told at first we were going to be a magazine branch! Then a mobile app! Then... a website?

That's right! The plan has changed SEVERAL TIMES. That is a recurring theme in this story because well there was no plan!
You see, the webcomic branch has been described by several of the comic artists IN THE COMPANY as “never planned to be a branch”

It was basically a way to keep artists they liked close by so they didn’t go publish elsewhere

Here are three artists accounts of the situation

Image
Image
Image
All the webcomic branch wanted was to feel included. Our website was NOT a part of the main website, it was LINKED but seperated

Our comic series WERE NEVER listed on the main website

There was a link to the webcomic website IN the mobile app, but not directly in it
WHAT I SIGNED
When the webcomic branch was brought in, we were asked to sign this Entry Form, nothing else

It's not legally binding or anything, it is not a contract or agreement, it is just a pdf to join

At the bottom it says CREATORS OWN ALL RIGHTS to submitted content Image
I am not entirely sure what everyone outside of my branch has had to sign, some from the MAIN magazine have told me they signed NOTHING, others have signed NDA's apparently

Regardless, we were still told in meetings we were "exclusive" and could not post on other platforms
This one is kind of on me and anyone else who listened to that. So I take accountability there

But technically, since we didn't sign anything that said we WERE exclusive, I guess we could have??

We were only TOLD we can post elsewhere when the branch ended
THE WEBCOMIC BRANCH
At the start we are told to post ONE CHAPTER a month for the webcomic platform

Everyone does this for the first 3 months, then things slow down

I had many complaints about that webcomic website that I verbally expressed in meetings
My main complaint was we could not see the number of views our chapters were getting.

When platforms like Webtoons, Tapas, and MangaPlus are right there, you'd think you'd have at least that

My other complaint was we could only post VERTICAL SCROLL COMICS
This might be a hot take, but I like to DRAW MANGA, and posting in the vertical scroll was a big turnoff that was more annoying than anything

But REGARDLESS, I did my work and kept asking for updates to the website, they never came
I was told by the CEO that there wasn't enough money to support the website right now, so I was like OKAY! That sucks, but it is what it is, I'm happy to be here!

Let's talk about my webcomic series I did for them: "Change The World"

This might be a hot take, but I own it 100%
When I first got moved to the webcomic branch, I was asked to pitch a bunch of story ideas to the CEO, I think I sent like 30

He picked the one he liked the best and we ran with it. I won't lie to you all, I ENJOYED working with the CEO,
I respected his opinion, I listened to everything he said, I asked questions when I was confused, I can confidently say I DID learn a lot by working with him

I ALWAYS give credit where credit is due, he DID give me feedback on my comic and what I could do to improve it
WHAT THE CEO HELPED ME WITH
I worked with the publisher to develop the "look" for the series, he helped me figure out what the characters would look like and gave me suggestions for the title

Like I said, I valued his feedback and believed it made my comic better

Image
Image
Image
I had always heard about the great relationship Shonen Jump mangaka had with their editors and I THOUGHT this was it

He HELPED me and PUSHED me to be better, I would NEVER say he OWNS my comic though, I am the one who ultimately wrote it and drew the chapters
Plus, the company prides itself on being CREATOR OWNED IP, my entry form even says I retain all rights to it!

I thought THIS was the ROLE of an editor

Remember this, it will come up again later
FAST FORWARD
I finish making the first three chapters of my manga series and still have not seen ANY numbers

At weekly meetings we were always told "you're doing good." "X did good this week" "Y could improve a bit more"

But no actual numbers
I am a YouTuber, I VALUE numbers, analytics, and data to see how my work is doing

MangaPlus Creators was BRAND NEW at this point, as much as I WANTED to go try my luck there, I gritted my teeth and waited to see how things played out
LET'S TALK MONEY
As many people in the past have already said, nobody that is JUST publishing manga in the magazines or webcomic branch gets paid

The ONLY people seeing money are the people who recently got book deals, the editorial staff, and the PR Manager I believe
PAY TRANSPARENCY
I believe everyone deserves to know if workers are being paid fairly

According to this Comic Artist IN THE COMPANY, this is what the last editor was paid and why the other editors quit the company

I am not a finance bro, so you let me know if this pay is fire Image
Editors Cont.
The two original editors for the LGBT Branch quit almost immediately. This Comic Artist who is a PART of the LGBT Branch had this to say about the matter

There are a few more LGBT related issues in the world's most diverse publisher, but we can continue that later Image
LGBT Branch continued
One of the comic artists (a man btw) IN the female led, LGBT/ Josei Branche has been described as “straight, highly religious, the gays should burn in hell type”

For the world’s most diverse brand, we sure love bigoted people in our lgbt safe space! Image
This honestly doesn't surprise me that much though because they have a manga series about a black man in the 70s written and illustrated by a white woman

Amazing art! Just a weird combo
IMPOSTERS FOUND

If you thought ONE conservative in the worlds most diverse comic company staff was wild, what if I told you there were two more!

One of the founders AND the PR Manager are BOTH conservative

I would love to know their political views Image
THE RESIGNATION LETTER YOU WERE NEVER MEANT TO SEE

This statement was sent to me by a whistleblower ON the company’s Board

The person who sent this is NOT the person who has stepped down in the statement below

Please read why THIS founder has left the company after 12 Years

Image
Image
Image
Image
WHY I LEFT
I went on a bit of a tangent there, but the reason I left was completely unrelated

I fought meeting after meeting to see DATA for our comic series, and this is what I was sent

As you can see, the webcomic program was a failure Image
Like I said though, I was never in this for the money, I KNOW making money in the comic industry is hard

I draw comics for PASSION first. I want people to READ my work

This website HAD NO READERS and was isolated from the main branch’s audience
All I wanted was to know our work mattered, and that people were reading it

I saw people getting THOUSANDS of reads and comments on MangaPlus, but we didn’t see ANYTHING

It felt like a complete waste of time
I OFFERED suggestions, I offered ideas like “maybe we can do one shots for one of the main magazines”

“maybe we get more artists for the website”

“Maybe we move the webcomics to the MAIN company mobile app”

All ideas were rejected
At that point I stopped working on my comic series and decided to focus on college

That’s why I had a long gap after the Christmas Chapter

I was burnt out, didn’t know what to do because I LOVED the company, but not MY “branch”
Don’t get me wrong, the guys I was published alongside were GREAT

We had a strong brotherhood and were told at the company’s virtual convention we had great chemistry

But that wasn’t enough for me to stay
The CEO told me to wait until the next All Hands Meeting because “big things were coming”

At the meeting, the “assistant program” was announced where they planned to make us work on other main artist’s projects

That was all that was said about our branch
WHY I LEFT (End)
I ultimately left on good terms, sent a formal email and and cut my losses and left

Obviously now I am public-enemy number 1

I guess people whisteblew to me and sent their own receipts because I have an audience and I am not afraid to be blunt?
You cant make this shit up

Maybe one day they will have an actual argument to any points brought their way Image
This comic artist from a certain publisher has described the workplace as “tyrannical” and has “tapped out” Image
If you have ever worked with this #comic / #manga publisher you better DOUBLE CHECK that you OWN your work

EDITORS are claiming they're the writers out here, even though it's been "Story & Art by DD Mark" EVERY SINGLE CHAPTER

Somebody please explain to me an EDITOR does Image
Posting this here for the thread followers

We love it when stealing IP at a "creator-owned IP company," LGBT Issues IN THE COMPANY, and complaints from CURRENT comic artists IN the company about a toxic workplace is dismissed as "attention seeking"

This whole situation has brought out the diverse manga brands true colors Image
This #comic / #manga artist at a certain publisher describes the workplace as "similar to a cult"

It was said that "for a while, artists published there could NOT even have Patreons or raise money for themselves" Image

Saturday AM artist Jeyodin claims all complaints from artists in the company are 100% False and "Their Lawyers will settle it" Image
This comic publisher claiming to sue isn't new though

This higher up in the company claims that "They like to throw this threat around" and their "lawyer" is the CEO's neighbor

If they have enough money for legal, shouldn't they have money to pay the artists in the magazine? Image

They are “scared to speak up” to the publisher that is supposed to represent them

This comic artist at a certain publisher has claimed that he was promised "competitive pay with the industry" Image
I do want to address this point

Not EVERY conservative is racist, homophobic, sexist, religious etc

Were most of the ones I've know like that? YES

In a company built on diversity, lgbt rep, etc it DOES make you raise an eyebrow though

it all comes down to who they vote for Image
This artist participated in the upcoming one-shot manga event held by a certain comic publisher

They asked if it was “normal not to be paid for the event” and they have heard “little to no mention of payment”

Was payment ever implied by the staff? Image
Trans artist @starshieldscmx recalls an experience they had with a certain comic publisher's PR Manager

During the interview, they were misgendered

They were also told "They worry people with too many familial tasks won't be able to do their work"

Very educational!

They were "promised finances that never came" but were "never paid, given crazy hours, and treated unfairly"

This comic artist at a certain publisher had this to say about the company he worked for Image
Why are people under the impression that they would be paid for participating in a certain comic publisher's one-shot competiton?

This is like the third person who has told me something like this

Are people being told they're going to be paid or something??

I'm actually lost Image
Cont.

If anyone was told they would be paid for the one-shot competition, please don't hesitate to speak up

I actually have no clue where this is coming from, I thought it was common knowledge nobody got paid for participating

Did someone telling you otherwise?? Image
UPDATE
The screenshot on the left was sent to me

That statement IS correct, I mentioned that process to everyone who has DM'd me (right)

That book process and the one-shot event are DIFFERENT, one is PAID, one is NOT

Hope that clears up any confusion!

Adding this to the thread for the thread followers since a certain comic publisher decided to make vague tweets yet again rather than address any of the allegations THEIR OWN artists/staff sent me

Image
Since it is so hard for a certain comic publish to actually address anything let's ask directly
1) Does DD Mark own his manga, Metal Souls 100% The answer should always be yes in a "creator owned IP company"
2) Why have your artists told me a guy in the LGBT magazine is anti-gay
As previously demonstrated, I only like to make statements if I have evidence to back it up. So here is a refresher in case anyone forgot:

Image
Image
Image
Image
What I will say is that of course, I'll never know if the vague tweets were about me, they NEVER specify who they are shading

The info that I've shared is what THEIR ARTISTS and THEIR STAFF have sent me. So if anything is incorrect, why are YOUR PEOPLE lying about YOUR COMPANY?
The funny thing is we’d all be happy if the claims made WERE lies

I’d hope a company built on diversity wouldn’t let homophobic people in, especially in a LGBT magazine

I’d also hope everyone owns their own work in a “creator owned IP company”

We WANT the company to be good
Remember, an artist at a certain comic publisher claims to have “all of the context” and “100% proof” but has yet to address or prove anything

If they have evidence, PLEASE disprove the claims YOUR ARTISTS / STAFF MADE about YOUR COMPANY

We’d love for all of this to be wrong Image
FINAL UPDATE
Earlier today, someone emailed me a few highlights from a certain comic publisher's latest Instagram Livestream where they discussed "recent harassment" directed at the company

The source has asked to remain anonymous. The livestream is still publicly available! Image
I do want to state this right away. Obviously harassment is bad. Don't ever do that to people, I've advocated against that since the very beginning.

Even in my original thread I told everyone to be civil and behave. Proof attached below Image
In the livestream it felt like nobody actually read this Twitter Thread. They conveniently forget the part where I even tried to take the heat off of their PR Manager who had to defend herself for being conservative in a company built on diversity. Image
Obviously, I am glad that a certain comic publisher has addressed the claims, instead of ignoring it

It was an odd choice to livestream on one of the artist's accounts and not the actual Company Account, considering almost all of the complaints came back to the CEO, who was MIA
This was the first clip sent to me where they address how copyright and ownership works at a certain comic publisher.

What they SAY in this video, is how it SHOULD BE. I AGREE with their decision to add in creator owned IP clause for new applicants
I say this because half of the people in this call did not follow their own guidelines with the DD Mark situation brought up in the past.

He was not allowed to leave the company immediately because of ownership disputes
In case you need a refresher, you can refer to this part of the Twitter Thread that directly addresses the DD Mark Situation:

For those of you following here, in a PUBLIC LIVESTREAM, the ceo of a certain comic publisher vaguely referenced DD Mark and how he "did not create all of his work"

The clip can be found here:
Image
Obviously the statement is vague, but the CEO's statement and choice of words is VERY SIMILAR to what was said in the DM's between the Head Editor and DD Mark

Here is a link to that thread:

Image
Image
Aside from the CEO's public livestream statement, the Head Editor's statement to DD Mark, the PR Manager told me in my DM's how DD Mark does not own his work and it is "pretty silly when Mark claims full credit" and "has the audacity to claim full ownership"

Image
Image
Image
So why does this matter? Obviously in a creator-owned IP company you should own your work

If you own your work, everybody is happy! That's why I AGREE with what they said in the Recent Livestream Clip

HOWEVER, they seem to forget there's literal evidence of them not doing that
So it is kind of wild to me that the Head Editor AND the PR Manager would say that everyone owns their comics and manga 100% at their company, when they have literally said all of this, and there's PROOF OF IT

Like at least own up to your own words
In this next clip, the PR Manager at a certain comic publisher directly brings my name into the conversation by saying I "attacked them and their friends"

Last I checked, the twitter thread only shares screenshots of things she has SENT ME in the DM's or stated publicly.
I will apologize if anything I said came off a bit too harsh or petty. The purpose of the thread is to shine light on what was PUBLICLY said to me or posted online.

If you have an issue with people knowing what you said, the solution is to not say it
Image
Image
In this clip, the PR Manager at a certain comic publisher states that "I had every opportunity to discuss my complaints with the company, but did not"

It is already publicly known I left on good terms, I didn't say ANYTHING BAD after leaving for MONTHS.

So then what changed?
Here is my resignation letter to the CEO of a certain comic publisher proving that I left on good terms.

Like I said in my thread, there WERE GOOD TIMES, I did LEARN ALOT, people WERE nice to me

I wonder if they skipped that part of the twitter thread Image
Like are we going to act like this part of the Twitter Thread did not happen? I gave respect where respect was due.

During my stay at the company, I DID have good moments. I WANTED it to work out. If you look at old YT Videos, you will SEE ME RAVING about the company Image
Like I said, I left on good terms. When people asked me why I left, I just said "it didn't work out." I had no intention of saying any more than that because it didn't feel necessary

SO WHAT CHANGED
What changed was #comicsbrokeme happened. For a WHILE, I did not speak on Comics Broke Me. I simply reposted messages artists were writing online to spread awareness

And then an artist who I looked up to released their own statement publicly:
This public Comics Broke Me thread took me by surprise because this was someone who had worked at the company SINCE THE BEGINNING. They were someone I GREW UP WATCHING

Even then, I did nothing more but like the post and move on. I still kept my opinions private
So what made me speak? The PR Manager at a certain comic publisher asked me why @thirdphp & @isaaccular were making vague Comics Broke Me

IDK ASK THEM?

They heard horror stories from ex artists who quit the company, so they spoke on it. The PR MANAGER MADE ME INVOLVED LOL Image
@thirdphp @isaaccular Also, it's bizarre to me that they say I never brought my concerns up. Here is me specifically talking to the PR Manager about all of this BEFORE I ever went public with anything

I told her about the DD thing, the complaints from artists, the brunch complaints, etc

Image
Image
Image
@thirdphp @isaaccular I was also very vocal during my entire stay at the company, you can ask anyone in the webcomic branch I was published alongside.

The head editor alluded to this, but I even scheduled a meeting before I quit to talk about my complaints.

Did they both just forget that happened Image
@thirdphp @isaaccular Anyway, during that long discussion, I got annoyed because a conservative was telling me 1) not to believe an LGBT person complaining 2) not to trust my friend DD Mark when I didn't even WORK FOR THE COMPANY

So I made a petty #comicsbrokeme tweet and offically got involved Image
@thirdphp @isaaccular As soon as I went public, the PR Manager tried to pull a 180 degree no scope backtrack and act like they didn't just say that the night before

Obviously if DD Mark owns his comic, everything is fine. But that didn't sound like the case
Image
Image
@thirdphp @isaaccular The next question is: WHY DO WE CARE?

We care because I had the SAME EXACT editorial help DD Mark did. Do I own my work? Does anyone own their work?

If DD Mark apparently does not, then what about everyone else who works with the SAME EDITORS?
@thirdphp @isaaccular This next clip from Saturday AM artist, Jeyodin is just funny. I'll let you all listen to it yourself
@thirdphp @isaaccular Don't worry Jey, I'll give you a shoutout!

I hope YouTube works out for you one day!

It's very bizarre to me how this company's artists continue to shit on YouTube as if their top artist, Whytmanga didn't get his start on YouTube Image
@thirdphp @isaaccular It's also crazy because the CEO of this comic publisher wanted me to take over their official company YouTube Channel

They added me into the workchat as a "Video Creator," (Nobody else in Afternoon was allowed in the work chat btw)

I even made a social media plan to help them Image
@thirdphp @isaaccular They're also forgetting the webcomic branch was told they're exclusive, meaning they CANT post on MangaPlus, Tapas, Webtoons, etc until the last month

I left bc 1) the website had zero traffic 2) our branch was NOT on the main website/app 3) No changes were planned
Image
Image
@thirdphp @isaaccular This clip is funny because they really convinced themselves this is all for attention or clout.

It'd be very easy for me to be petty and have a penis measuring contest, but that is not productive

They really don't believe it's THEIR OWN ARTISTS who sent all of those screenshots
@thirdphp @isaaccular The next question is: WHY DOES THIS MATTER?

This matters because MANY of the artists who sent me receipts to post, STILL WORK THERE. Some have quit beforehand, some are thinking about it, etc.

It is very clear that they have no intention to hold themselves accountable
@thirdphp @isaaccular This clip is also interesting because the Head Editor claims that I am using their company to "get clout" or "succeed"

Why is the discussion never
"Some people feel hurt at our company?"
"Do LGBT artists feel safe here?"
"Why are staff saying DD Mark doesn't own his work?"
@thirdphp @isaaccular In this clip, an artist at a certain comic publisher claims that "our company has never said anything bad about another company."

Anyone who has attended a Staff Meeting on Google Meet will recall the CEO's shit talking about Shrine, Pulse, Noir Ceasar, and Black Sands
@thirdphp @isaaccular Unfortunately this is a "trust me bro" situation since the weekly meetings were done on voice call.

However, here is an artist's account of shit talking being done towards Shrine Comics for example
Image
Image
@thirdphp @isaaccular This statement from one of the artists in the World's Most Diverse LGBT Magazine is also interesting

For starters, they're acting like I WAS THE ONE making these claims about their magazine, when it was her coworkers sending me anonymous statements
@thirdphp @isaaccular I don't doubt that everyone worked hard, a lot of the manga in the magazine DO LOOK GOOD. I LIKED THE MAGAZINE, that is why I was shocked when LGBT artists and ex artists IN THE MAGAZINE dm'd me receipts and told me about their negative experiences
@thirdphp @isaaccular As many of you know, I am very vocal about my support for the LGBT community.

I mention it pretty openly on my YouTube Channel,, so to hear wild claims like these, I was confused and disappointed
Image
Image
@thirdphp @isaaccular OBVIOUSLY, this is only ONE PERSON'S account from the LGBT Magazine, but it is still grounds for concern, especially for a company that prides itself on diversity.

What's interesting is, I don't think a single LGBT member has spoke about this situation
@thirdphp @isaaccular No offense to the artist who spoke in this video, I believe she is a super talented artist and storyteller, but I believe she identifies as a cishet white woman.

I would love to hear from one of the two LGBT artists still remaining at the company.
In regards to this clip, it circles back to what I said before. I have nothing personally against ANY of these people, especially Kristina

"What Changed" was the PR Manager dragging me into the #ComicsBrokeMe situation and things exploding from there
In regards to this commenter in the Instagram Livestream, I took it upon myself to block everyone associated with the company

This commenter spam posts how much they love the company and I didn't want to see the noise. Amazing art! Just can't be bothered Image
This clip is TRUE, I did send a private message to Kristina before going public with everything. Like I said, I only had positive interactions with her, so when I heard some wild stories she was one of the people I confided in about it.

Screenshots below
Here is proof of me warning Kristina about some of the wild claims I had been hearing from current artists and ex artists about a certain comic publisher during the #ComicsBrokeMe situation

Image
Image
So what is the takeaway here:
It seems that at this point this comic publisher has zero intention of taking any of the complaints by their former artists, current artists, former staff, and current staff seriously

Which is a SHAME for the people still working there
It also seems like a certain comic publisher is set on pointing me out as the "sole perpetrator" and refusing to acknowledge that there is no possible way for me to have any of this information WITHOUT THEM TELLING ME

So I'm sure you'll hear about me like I'm the devil!
To the current artists who still work at a certain comic publisher, thank you for treating me kindly when I was there. Thank you to the ones who STILL have my back through all of this

You are all super talented and I'd hate to see your hard work go unrecognized
To the people who have left the company in the past and have reached out to me through all of this, thank you for sharing your experiences with me and for reassuring me that this was the right thing to do

I am sorry that your former employer refuses to acknowledge your existence
To the people who have been hurt by this company, are currently being hurt, or will be hurt in the future, just know that you are not alone

It can be scary to "stand up to the man" or a company you love. Especially when they try to silence your voice
A company built on diversity should be a safe space, welcoming to all kinds of people. It shouldn't support actors who actively vote against you, people who don't want you to exist, people who bully you or gang up on you when you voice your concerns
Do I wish things turned out differently? ABSOLUTELY. This thread, my past videos, and past posts SHOWED how much I adored this company, its artists, and its missions

It SUCKS A LOT that I have to be the one to shine a light on these issues
Do I claim EVERYTHING being said by THEIR ARTISTS/STAFF in these anonymous posts is 100% Accurate?

Who knows

At the end of the day, THEIR ARTISTS and STAFF told me THEIR stories and complaints.

So that's an internal issue the company will need to work out in the future
I hope you've paid attention to the fact that I have tried to back all of the claims being made with receipts, videos, and evidence.

I wouldn't put my name on the line for nothing

Notice how every statement the company gave has been vague, without proof, and "trust me bro"
If there have been any inaccuracies or bad faith actors sending me bad information, then I FULL HEARTEDLY APOLOGIZE

But then my question is: "Why do your ex artists, current artists, and staff feel the need to lie about you THAT BAD?"
Moving forward, I hope everyone who has read this thread can learn to forgive, obviously don't go spreading hate or doing anything silly

The WHOLE POINT of this thread was to highlight MY EXPERIENCE and the complaints SENT TO ME by this company's artists / staff
I hope this thread and the evidence provided has allowed you to think more critically about this situation

I won't tell you to do anything. Make YOUR OWN judgement call moving forward.

If you hear more stories come out in the future, remember this thread, remember these stories
I know that a certain comic publisher would love for me to leak the identities of the whisteblowers who USED TO work for their company and STILL DO work for their company

But I won't

There is no reason to put a target on their backs
Remember how many times the people who HAVE SPOKEN from a certain comic publisher name called, deflected, or made baseless claims

They tried to use a SCARE TACTIC by claiming "legal was getting involved" whenever critics would ask questions or post receipts THEY SAID
Pay attention to how they have chosen to make their statements
1) Behind a girl's trauma post (pictured below)
2) On a Juneteenth Post (who is gonna call someone out on Juneteenth)
3) Livestream NOT on the main channel, with the CEO, the target of most of the criticism, MIA Image
The only reason I am even talking about all of this today is because during the livestream, I was name dropped

They called me out as "Monitor" AND my legal name. They have finally stopped being vague

Of course, they framed it like I made all of this up myself, go figure
I felt like I had to defend my name after the clips DIRECTLY ADDRESSING ME that were sent to me by an anonymous source

Instead of making "trust me bro" statements like those in the livestream, I have provided context in the form of screenshots
I labeled this section as the "Final Statement" because I really would like to move on from this

Even if they respond or make more posts, videos, etc. I will do my best to ignore it and move on

You, the public, are not idiots. I hope you have some idea of my character by now
I hope you also have enough context and experience viewing both sides to make an informed decision about how you feel.

I have tried my best to remain respectful, not name call, or be overly petty. I apologize if I have slipped up along the way, I am only human
With that being said, thank you for taking the time to hear my story, the story of these artists / staff, and the story of a certain comic publisher.

As always, keep creating everyone!

@thirdphp Another comic artist at a certain comic publisher recounts how the CEO “had panic attacks” about Noir Caesar, “Had a problem with Cannon Busters and LeSean Thomas” and called RDCWorld “jokers, clowns, and immature in meetings” Image
Another artist has come forward and publicly made a statement about a certain comic publisher

They claim “they were not fazed when the truth came out that nobody gets paid”

This artist who worked with a certain comic publisher claims to have

“lots of screenshots including (The CEO) telling (them) to get their shit together during a time of chronic illness”

They allegedly show the CEO “incriminating himself in the DMs”

Full Statement coming soon Image
Former Manga Artist Of A Certain Comic Publisher Has Released An Official Statement
(A Thread)

This statement includes "actual grievances, accusations of harassment, intentional misrepresentation, manipulation, and non payment"

Please Read: Image
This manga artist at a certain comic publisher was "a single parent" who was offered scriptwriting positions "that were explicitly stated to be paid positions"

They were also "offered equity in the company"

Those plans were "frequently altered or outright cancelled" Image
This black comic artist was told their black protagonist character "did not properly epitomize the postmodern black male" and was told to "make him more stoic and subtly sexualized"

They also recount other paid opportunities they were offered that ultimately fell through Image
This comic artist was told to write "a scene that played into negative stereotypes about Indian people hating dogs"

They were also told to "Get their shit together" after falling behind "after struggling with chronic health problems and [their] aunt passed away from cancer" Image
This manga artist at a certain comic publisher was told they'd have "100% Creative Control" but "The final published draft did not resemble anything [they] had written."

Similar to this Thread, they publicly spoke up on Facebook 6 YEARS AGO, only to be intimidated into silence Image
The CEO of a certain comic publisher labeled this manga artist as "egotistical," "petulant," "manipulative," and "a liar" when they "rebutted [The CEO's] lies."

Instead of discussing the "non-payment," and "crediting his work to [them]," The CEO "took issue with their tone" Image
The CEO claimed "he should have fired [the comic artist] on the spot [For the negative Indian stereotype]" even though he was allegedly the one who "instructed them to write it"

"The CEO was content to lie and say it was all me to disabuse himself from any responsibility" Image
"The CEO claimed he had deals lined up for me that he hadn't gotten around to telling me until I said I was quitting"

This black, queer, 1st generation comic artist was told "they did not believe in [the company's] diverse vision"

They were told they were "under verbal NDA" Image
This comic artist ends their statement by saying "seeing similar experiences from others like me has given me the courage to speak up and add my voice"

"I hope this statement sheds light on a system that has mistreated many of its aspiring talents" Image

Here is the CEO of a certain comic publisher claiming "everyone [at the company] does not work for free"

They also throw the legal card again saying the Facebook statement they made was "slander, libel, attention seeking, a lie, and LEGALLY insane"

"You are NOT a victim, but when you claim plagarism and your first thought is NOT "Over the line, let me apologize, and remove the post" then you are expressing that you ARE a harasser and a liar"

This Public Statement was made in the latest issue of a certain comic publisher’s LGBT Magazine

They claim “a former member and their family teamed up with a discredited YouTuber to attack our brand out of petty dislike of diversity”

Take that what you will Image
Thank you for listening to this Manga Artist’s story about a certain comic publisher

I feel like this is a good ending point:

The company’s most recent public statement in the LGBT Magazine
I just realized they used the term "Female Leads" again.

Shoutout to my feminists, LGBT activists, ally's, and women viewers.

We love when straight men call women "females"
This commenter mentions how what a certain comic publisher is doing is illegal according to Federal US Laws and North Carolina State Laws

Someone I know who studied law in North Carolina also commented on the actions of a certain comic publisher:

“You would be shocked with how many laws this breaks universally” Image
Update on a certain comic publisher’s webcomic branch:

Every single series has been scrubbed from the website despite being exclusive to the webcomic platform

Even the artists who 1) never quit and 2) never spoke publicly were punished
Image
Image
The decision to remove the webcomic chapters and reader comments was done without warning

It is unfortunate for the artists who were staying out of trouble

Now it looks like they never existed Image
The author of the manga, Boneyard has released a public statement on YouTube. Please listen

"My comic was deleted without my knowledge or consent"

Image
These 2 definitions are needed to understand HOW and WHY a certain comic publisher has been responding the way they have been:

Love Bombing: You’ve seen the posts where current artists say how much they love the company and how awesome it is

Whataboutism: dodging actual claims
Image
Image
The PR Manager of a certain comic publisher has released a 5 minute YouTube Video statement on her YouTube Channel

It is very vague but basically says everything brought up in this thread is lies and people who have complaints should be quiet and do their own thing

Please watch Image
On that YouTube video, a commenter named Akairo2242 respectfully expressed his concerns and mentioned that he was

“Really disappointed to see the comic artist’s treatment and experience be constantly brushed off as harassment”

Please read his full comment: Image
In response, Saturday Am artist Jeyodin responds “(The CEO) did nothing wrong” and

“All of your “points will be addressed when we want to address them. WE actually have work to do”

Please read his full response:

Former Saturday Am artist, Jamar (author of October Legion in Saturday Afternoon” claims

“Jey, you say you have full context but have never been in our meetings to know, so you don’t have full context”

Please read his full response below: Image
Another manga artist for a certain comic publisher claims “I was there almost a full year before Jeyodin and saw things he wasn’t there for”

“You mean to tel me that all my experiences BEFORE you were hired are lies and you have the full context?” Image
In case you missed it, the wife of SaigamiProject has posted a statement (with their blessing) about a certain comic publisher

Please read:

Another mangaka at a certain comic publisher DM’d me and said “[They] left quietly a few years back because [their] team wouldn’t put up with the lack of professionalism and cult-like behavior of upper management”

“There are a lot of young artists who will be taken advantage of” Image
Saturday Am Co-Founder, Raymond Brown describes Bon Idle’s @koguchipress as “dumb decision making”

He claims “we really need a non compete clause implemented moving forward”

“He can’t lead a team of 2 designers, how does he think he can manage creators?”
Image
Image
Former Saturday Am comic artist responded to the CEO’s latest tweet with:

“All of the people that have come out, myself included, have been open they don’t have a problem with Saturday AM or it’s brand, it’s been with you and how you’ve treated those people”
Image
Image
In response, Saturday Am Head Editor, Austin Harvey responded “I WILL be addressing this to the public”

A manga artist at a certain comic publisher claims they believe this was “ghostwritten by the CEO” based on the phrasing, capitalization, and punctuation Image
Saturday Am manga artist, Jeyodin claims “All of these attacks have been made to discredit (The CEO) and our brand and it’s wrong…”

“When he’s done nothing wrong”

He also states “he is speaking up because he finds it incredibly disgusting” Image
“You finally admit you were lying. Thanks for that. We knew it but glad you can admit it”

Is the latest statement from Saturday Brunch Artist, Grimmheim Image
I’ve been told a certain comic publisher said something about me not bringing stuff up when I was there

Here is me literally asking the Head Editor and CEO for data on my manga like I said in my Personal Statement Image
Saturday Am artist Jeyodin follows up by saying “(The CEO) started a successful black owned business in the world of manga.”

“Lots of bigots / bitter folks hate him too. Don’t lie about it tho”

Respectfully, what is bro on about 😭 Image
I am tired of this empty statement being thrown around “You falsely accused Saturday Am’s PR Manager for being a homophobe”

PLEASE TELL ME WHERE THAT HAPPENED. Receipts PLEASE

I think they are referencing this post I made before???

Image
Image
I have never ONCE directly said the PR Manager of a certain comic publisher is homophobic

If I did, please show me. I will apologize to Jackie if people harassed her over this, nobody deserves that

I have said from the beginning don’t go harassing anyone
Building on my first post, obviously NOT EVERY conservative or republican is bad.

It was a bit weird to hear about several conservatives being IN the worlds most diverse manga magazine though

I assumed it would be all liberals or people with leftist views
However, if conservatives in the company support POC and the LGBT Community, there is no problem

If the PR Manager supports gay marriage, is fine with trans people using the bathroom with her, supports trans healthcare coverage, etc etc then that’s amazing!

That would be great
The purpose of my original post was to highlight that conservatives ARE givens a space in the worlds most diverse manga company

So I think it’s fair to ask their political views and beliefs when the black owned company stands for diversity, inclusion, and LGBT RIGHTS
I do want to reiterate, please do not harass anyone or send hateful messages on my behalf or anyone else’s

I have never condoned that from that start

So I will apologize for people acting silly, but stop saying I called her homophobic when I didn’t
I have just been told a certain comic publisher made a statement about me and DD Mark in a ONE PIECE LICE ACTION VIDEO

At around 1:27:00

It’s like playing Where’s Waldo to find their statements
Image
Image
The exact timestamp has been submitted to me. It begins at 53:50 in Saturday Am’s latest YouTube Video

Please listen to their Head Editor and PR Manager’s statement here:

Image
If you need a refresher for the DD Mark “Metal Souls” Copyright Situation, please refer back to this thread:

Remember: Saturday AM is a “creator-owned IP company!”
In this Voice Memo, Saturday AM CEO describes Shrine Comics, VoyceMe, Pulse Manga, Noir Caesar, and Black Sands as "Vultures"

"They tap all of our people and live off of the wreckage of Saturday AM"

"They try to make themselves seem big, they don't have any sort of brand value"
In the video a certain comic publisher allegedly states that DD Mark DOES NOT own his manga series, “Metal Souls”

Even though no co-ownership form or contracts were ever signed Image
In response to a certain comic publisher's most recent public livestream, former artist ItsBunkles (October Legion) has made a public statement (A Thread)

"There was so much that was said that isn't true about me and others, and I have evidence for it"

Please Read:
Image
Image
The first point the comic artist of October Legion wanted to address was how a certain comic publisher said they:

"did not bring their grievances up when they worked with the company"

Here are receipts going back as far as December of LAST YEAR showing the opposite

Please read

Image
Image
Image
The next point the manga artist of October Legion brought up was how the CEO "minimalized" his time in the hospital that was caused due to overwork / stress

He claims the CEO said "Not to minimize your situation, but I'm going through similar health stuff too" Image
In today's public livestream, the head editor for a certain comic publisher described his "driving factor for drawing October Legion" as he "Wanted Money"

Little did the public know, The CEO "always brought up taking ownership of October Legion" Image
He claims "shortly after my meeting about my health is when [The CEO] came to me about a contract that would involve me giving up ownership of my characters and stories"

Please read his full statement: Image
They claim "I wasn't asking for pay for anything October Legion related until [The CEO] offered"

T-Shirts with [October Legion] artwork were sold, but ItsBunkles claims "I never got paid for"

"There was supposed to be a contract but circumstances changed without explanation"

Image
Image
Image
The next point that the author of October Legion brings up is the assistant work they did on the CEO's series, Clock Striker

"It didn't become official until over a year after when I wanted to leave with my series" Image
In these screeshots, ItsBunkles show them asking The CEO, the artist of Clock Striker, and the Head Editor about payment for his assistant work

The artist of Clock Striker says "I will pay you with my own money then, it makes no sense to keep working without payment"

Image
Image
Image
In these screenshots, the author discusses the terms for a certain comic publishing buying his IP, October Legion with the head editor

"The contract was voided due to many things being wrong with it"

Please read:

Image
Image
Image
The comic artist of October Legion claims they "did not speak up about wanting to leave OR [their] experience until [they] knew they could walk and their creations were safe"

"The contract said I cannot 'harass' the company"

"I wasn't going to say sh*t until that was over with"
Image
Image
In response to constantly being called "a liar for pretending [he] didn't know about the Twitter thing" the author of October Legion claims he lied because:

"The CEO threatened to drop me" after being tagged in a post about their competitors Image
The manga artist claims "If Saturday AM is willing to nearly drop me on SUSPICION that I am involved with a group of haters"

"Why on Earth would I tell you I know about a situation that involves people I AM still following while you have my series by the contractual BALLS"
Image
Image
In this part, the comic artist says "where in my words do I ever attack [The CEO] for being black or the company he's made?"

"I just don't like how he has treated me or the things I'm hearing from others OR the things I've seen in regards to other people"

"You called me a liar"
Image
Image
He ends his statement by saying "believe me I have more. This does NOT include voice recordings I scrapped up and saved myself"

"I had an experience. It did happen. "

"Don't pretend this was all a money thing for me, it never was" Image
So now the question is: Why were three members from Saturday AM SO QUICK to try and dismiss ItsBunkles as "a liar" and an unreliable source?

Why try so hard to discredit him or silence him?

Image
Image
Image
Starting off the New Year with Saturday AM namedropping me in their latest Letter From The Publisher in the newest Saturday Brunch Issue

There are a few interesting points in this official statement so please read it thoroughly

Let's talk about it! 🧵 Image
[Legal Mention]
In the statement, Saturday AM CEO, Frederick Jones writes "We're well aware that this group has gone silent once their actions were unrewarded and their legal issues became more severe"

First, what group lol. Is there a club I'm unaware of Image
[Legal Mention Pt 2]
2nd, throughout this entire Saturday AM situation, I have NEVER once received any sort of email, letter or DM from a legal team, lawyer, etc

Did anybody?

Maybe they're referring to people who may have actually harassed them. Not sure what that part means Image
[Legal Mention Pt 3]
Legal Mention HAS been mentioned in a comment section by Saturday AM artist Jeyodin, as pictured below:

However, during the #ComicsBrokeMe situation and this Twitter Thread situation, no legal team has ever been involved as far as I'm aware Image
[Misrepresentation Of The Twitter Thread]
In this statement, Saturday AM CEO labels this thread as a "coordinated campaign of hate"

He also mentioned "Bad faith actors who attacked female members of our company four years ago"

First, why are these two events being grouped as 1 Image
[Misrepresentation of This Twitter Thread]
Obviously I can't say for sure the CEO is referring to this thread, as the statement's vague

I've done my best to be critical, but also give credit where credit is due

I STARTED this with the good parts of when I was in Saturday AM
Image
Image
[What Even Is "Hate"]
I want to point out that Saturday AM artist Jeyodin called the artists coming forward anonymously, "Attention Seekers"

Saturday PM artist, Blake Showers called me a "cry baby ass boy" and said "stop making videos and study anatomy" and SATURDAY AM rt'd it
Image
Image
And what do you think happened when people asked about these two public posts?

They were blocked so their responses would be hidden

Sure you can chalk this up to "damage control," but they were silencing criticism coming their way Image
And let’s not forget this public Instagram Livestream where Saturday Am artist, Jeyodin states:

“He has this large YouTube channel which is baffling, he doesn’t have books like we do, he doesn’t use his own art in his thumbnails, people look up to him it’s insane to me”
[What Even Is Hate Pt 3]
The point of me mentioning these incidents, is because is this not hate? Is this not the textbook definition of cyber-bullying?

The purpose of bringing these up is to give you an idea of the personalities speaking up about this situation
[Definition of Whisteblowing]
One of the common arguments Saturday AM brings up is "everything is fake" "It's all fabricated" and most recently:

"None of the private convos of the ex-artists were ever used by these people, less it portray them in a bad light" Image
First, here is the legal definition of Whistleblowing

"Whistleblowers report evidence of wrongdoing"

Please refer to the official definition because Saturday AM considers Whistleblowing "libel" and a "hate campaign" Image
On Saturday AM PR Manager, Jackie Staar's most recent YouTube video briefly addressing this Twitter Thread, someone asks:

"Why is whistleblowing being considered harassment?"

They were not given a proper response Image
Whisteblowers are legally protected

"In general, employees may disclose information to anyone, including non governmental audiences, unless the information is classified or specifically prohibited by law from release"

If you are not paid, you cannot be an employee Image
[The Anonymous Complaints]
Aside from the anonymous text conversations I posted with current / ex Saturday AM artists / staff, several people have come forward publicly

Let's talk about those who have publicly come forward to discuss their time with Saturday AM
[The Anonymous Complaints]
On Instagram, Saturday AM (Webcomic Branch: Afternoon) artist, ItsBunkles released a public statement

Please read that in its entirety if you have not Image
[The Anonymous Complaints]
This former Saturday AM artist asked to remain anonymous, but has written a 8 page statement and asked me to release it on this Twitter Thread

Please read this statement in its entirety if you have not Image
[The Anonymous Complaints]
While not a Saturday AM artist, this indie artist Starshields publicly released a statement about a negative experience they had with the PR Manager, Jackie Staar during their Summer of Manga interview

They were left feeling uncomfortable

Please read Image
[The Anonymous Statements]
Former Saturday AM artist (Branch: Brunch), ThatDaggerStar publicly stated:

"Can confirm the behavior was the same and was what resulted in both me and my editor leaving the [LGBT] mag in Aug 2020" Image
[The Anonymous Complaints]
Former Saturday AM (Webcomic Branch: Afternoon) artist RicardoAntonioArt released a 50 minute public statement in a now deleted video

To not add fuel to the fire, he has decided to remove the video and move on from the situation. Image
[The Anonymous Complaints]
This former artist at Saturday AM sent in a long, anonymous statement for me to upload on the Twitter Thread

They were "scared to speak up," like many of the others who have chosen to remain anonymous

Please read his full statement in its entirety Image
[The Anonymous Complaints]
There was even this statement sent in by one of Saturday AM's staff artists

They claimed they "were promised finances which never came. There was no pay, crazy hours" and he was "treated unfairly in some situations"

Please read their full statement Image
[The Anonymous Complaints]
One common argument I have seen Saturday AM bring up is "why would these artists still stay if what they say is true?"

The answer is simple. It's their dream to see their books on shelves. They want to do this professionally. That's it
[The Anonymous Complaints]
It's no secret that Saturday AM DOES have books on shelves in book stores.

Many of the artists who have complained anonymously don't want to give up their chance. They are willing to look the other way or grit their teeth

But they still contributed
[Misinformed Payment Records]
Obviously, this is between Saturday AM and the artists who claim they should have been paid

Comic artists published in JUST the magazines are not paid

The artists WITH books are paid upfront and royalties by their distributer, Quarto Group Image
[Misinformed Payment Records]
Obviously If there were third-party opportunities like merch, games, etc then that is a separate thing as well

Speaking for myself, I was never paid anything and didn't expect payment

So for those with issues, I hope it gets worked out
[Innaccurate Creator-Ownership Claims]
This refers to the DD Mark situation, I won't beat a dead horse, so please refer to that part of the Twitter Thread

The TL;DR is Saturday AM, a company that values "Creator-Owned IP" claimed several times "DD does not fully own Metal Souls" Image
For ease of access, here is a link to the portion of this Twitter Thread that discusses the Saturday Am DD Mark copyright situation:

[Libelous Slander]
Saturday AM mentions "libelous slander stating that our Jackie Rindie (PR Manager, Jackie Staar/JRSketcher) was a HOMOPHOBE when she is not"

Not sure what this bit is referring to since I have never directly labeled her as homophobic. Image
[Libelous Slander]
I could be wrong, but a few people have pointed to this tweet as being the catalyst

It is no secret Saturday AM's co founder, Raymond Brown and PR Manager, Jackie Rinde are conservative, she stated that herself:
Image
Image
[Libelous Slander]
In my original tweet, I was referring to people in my own life: classmates & family who were conservative

I wrote "it all depends on who they vote for" and obviously what they believe in

It isn't crazy to question why conservatives have a space in diversity Image
[Libelous Slander]
I wasn't the only one questioning this either. This commenter stated

"Conservatives are targeting and stripping away the rights of the people you claim to be an ally of"

"It's not insane for people to question when you vote in opposition to diversity" Image
[Libelous Slander]
This sentiment parallels the Resignation Letter of a former LGBT Saturday AM founder

I won't beat this dead horse again, so

Please read the full letter in the Twitter thread
Image
Image
Saturday Am co-founder Raymond Brown stated “I noticed you only apologized to Mitch, but you at (Seny’s Wife) owe many more apologies”

To clarify:
a conservative man demands two LGBT people to apologize to the conservative woman in the “worlds most diverse manga magazine” Image
[Libelous Slander]
If you read the former Saturday AM Co-Founder's resignation, this is a direct parallel to another experience they endured

"Why am I expected to make an apology to someone whose choices result in enabling taking away the rights of me and the LGBT community?" Image
[Monitor Comics Namedrop]
I was name dropped in this section of Saturday AM CEO's "Letter From The Publisher" in the latest issue of Saturday Brunch, their LGBT focused magazine

They claim "Bon Idle, himself the subject of additional lies from Monitor Comics"

Allow me to cook Image
[Leaked DM'S From Saturday AM CEO]
Saturday AM CEO, Frederick Jones is referring to this tweet showcasing Saturday AM co-founder, Raymond Jones stating

"We need a non compete clause implemented moving forward" when discussing Bon Idle's indie press, Koguchi Image
[Leaked DM’s From Saturday AM CEO]
In response, Saturday Am Co-Founder, Raymond Jones claims

“You were attempting to embarrass my colleague Bon Idle of Koguchi Press”

He’s got that backwards, he was the one caught with his pants down Image
[Leaked DM'S From Saturday AM]
In this section of the Letter from The Publisher, Saturday AM CEO Frederick Jones writes "we have refused not to call out the harassment lies & bad faith acts"

We all know that's cap. We have all seen the millions of posts, livestreams, and videos Image
[Leaked DM'S From Saturday AM CEO]
Here are just 4 EXAMPLES of Saturday AM trying to diffuse the situation after receiving backlash and criticism EVERY. SINGLE. TIME

And let the record hold, I have chosen NOT to make a dedicated YouTube Video about this

While they've made many

Image
Image
Image
Image
[Leaked DM'S From Saturday AM CEO]
Going back to Saturday AM Co-Founder, Raymond Jone's statement, he and others claim that the screenshot regarding Koguchi Press is "fake" or "fabricated"

What they didn't know was someone sent me the entire conversation. Which I will show now Image
I MIXED UP THE LAST NAMES MY BAD LOL
Raymond Brown*
[Leaked DM’s From Saturday AM CEO]
Since Saturday Am continues to claim that Koguchi screenshot is fabricated, I will release that entire conversation

The anonymous sender claims the purple text is Saturday Am CEO talking with Raymond Brown

Please Read:
[Leaked DM’s From Saturday AM CEO]

In this conversation, allegedly Saturday Am CEO Fredrick Jones and co-founder Raymond Brown were “talking shit” about competitors Shrine Comics and Pulse Comics

Zoom in to read

Image
Image
Image
Image
[Leaked DM’s From Saturday Am CEO]

Don’t worry there are more, the images are a bit hard to read so zooming in is the best way to see the conversation

Allegedly other indie manga artists and Noir Ceasar creators were mentioned as well

Image
[Leaked DM’s From Saturday AM CEO]

These final two screenshots specifically show Shrine Comics series, Muttonchop The Mightiest Sheep, a manga that was previously published with Saturday Am
Image
Image
[Leaked DM's From Saturday AM CEO]
I do want to reiterate, while we DO see Saturday AM's co-founder Raymond Brown in these screenshots, we cannot 100% determine the sender

I was told by a Saturday AM artist that it is allegedly the CEO, Frederick Jones

key word: ALLEGEDLY
[Leaked DM's From Saturday AM CEO]
I also want to acknowledge I have NO IDEA how this anonymous whistleblower got ahold of these receipts

That is the main reason I did not post them.

But since they keep claiming Raymond Brown receipt is fake, you can have the full conversation Image
[So Why Does This Matter]
In Saturday AM PR Manager, Jackie Staar's YouTube Video addressing this Twitter Thread, she claimed

"if you have a problem with Saturday AM, start your own thing, don't complain"

Obviously that doesn't seem like the case does it? Image
[So Why Does This Matter]
Current Saturday AM artist Bon Idle started his own thing. Raymond Brown suggests a non-compete

Jin, the creator of Shrine Comics and former Saturday AM artist, started his own thing. He gets bashed for it

So which is it? Image
[So Why Does This Matter]
I say all of this to reiterate what Saturday AM SAYS does not match up with what they DO and HAVE DONE

For some reason they decided to name drop me and bring this situation up again, so here is my response Image
[Conclusion]
To everyone reading this thread, I apologize for bringing it to your timeline again

Since they namedropped me publicly in a magazine it felt like fair game at this point

Maybe I should just make a YouTube video about it
[Saturday Am’s LGBT Magazine]

It has been brought to my attention that in Saturday Brunch’s latest magazine issue, there are incorrect definitions for different sexualities

Please The Full Thread: 🧵
#LGBTQIA #LGBT
Image
[Saturday Am’s LGBT Magazine]
The first issue revolves around the definition they give for Bisexuality

“Some people refer to bisexuality as pansexuality”

Below is one LGBT followers reaction Image
[Saturday Am’s LGBT Magazine]
Another issue with Saturday Brunch’s latest issue revolves around the definition of Asexuality given

Please read this LGBT artist’s reaction to the definition:

Let us know your thoughts
Image
Image
[Saturday AM's LGBT Magazine]
While this article's incorrect definitions could be chalked up to negligence or ignorance

Let's not forget how this Anonymous Saturday Brunch artist described the magazine:

"You're a cishet man lecturing us on what should be the right kind of rep." Image
[Saturday Am LGBT Magazine]
And as previously mentioned in Dagger’s public Twitter post

“I had one of the titles in Saturday Brunch before deciding to leave. Can confirm the behavior was the same and was what resulted in both me and my editor leaving the magazine”
SaigamiProject / Seny (Former Saturday Am Cofounder / Manga Artist)

has released a public statement regarding their experience with Saturday Brunch, “The world’s most diverse LGBT / Josei Manga Magazine”

Please Read:
The slogan “The World’s Most Diverse LGBT / Josei Manga Magazine” comes from the front covers of Saturday Am’s magazine, Saturday Brunch

Or at least they used to before it was changed
[Response To The Leaked DM's]
Saturday AM CEO, Frederick Jones has recently stated "Faking DM's now?" on his Twitter Account

Others have informed me that he has been using this defense in comment sections as well

I guess he doesn't know I was sent uncropped versions of the DM's Image
[Faked DM's]
Below is a uncropped conversation between Saturday AM Co-Founder, Raymond Jones & (Allegedly) Saturday AM CEO, Frederick Jones

In this DM they discuss Black Sands Entertainment

These widescreen DM's are a bit harder to read Image
*RAYMOND BROWN

I don't know why I keep making that mistake. My bad everyone, I gotta stop typing so fast
[Saturday AM CEO Leaked DM's]]
In this conversation, (allegedly) Saturday AM CEO, Frederick Jones had this to say about Webtoon creator, Tony Weaver Jr:

"This brother could NOT be more corny. We've not seen a black nerd this uncool since Urkel"

Fun Facts About Me
-Worked at The Center for Gender Equity for 4 years
-Won an award for my activist work on Toxic Masculinity
-My comic “Gendered Vignettes” won a grand prize at LVAIC Women & Gender Studies Conference
-Took 2 WGSS college courses + read many books

But go off 😮‍💨
[Saturday AM Graphic Designers]
"The design team was also gaslit about money and grandeur although never seeing a dime"

"We spent late nights editing/putting together the ENTIRE magazine for free"

"We had hours of meetings in which Fred told us they were so close to paying us" Image
[Saturday AM Graphic Designers]
"Most people on the design team felt strongly that we were doing way too much work and expected to devote too much time to be unpaid"

"It completely killed my confidence and it took me so long to recover" Image
If you are still selling someone’s comic/manga in physical stores + online and making money off of it, why are you censoring them in official advertisements?

Additional Context:
“Saigami” is one of Saturday Am’s original series and has been in the digital magazine for 10+ years
"They're trying so hard to pretend I don't exist but I guess the money they get from my sales is still welcomed. Not that I know much about my sales, never got those numbers even when I was there"

-Says former Saturday AM founder/comic artist Seny to former Saturday AM manga artist, DaggerStar
[Saturday AM CEO Leaked Messages]
The world's most diverse manga magazine DEADNAMES former founder / artist of 10+ years AND has a problem with a fan supporting the LGBTQIA creators?

Warning: Deadname Used (Correct name: Seny)

Context: On a public instagram post, a Instagram user corrected Saturday AM for incorrectly spelling the cover artist's name: "I loved this Killshot chapter, but is there a reason the cover artist isn't properly credited?"

Allegedly, Saturday AM CEO Frederick L Jones claims: "Some [DEADNAME] fan bullshit. Not remotely giving us credit for the issue and how hard the girls name is, she's tripping cuz there is an extra "i" and on top of that she only provides love to [DEADNAME] and the cover whom is also gay. Everyone else can go to hell. Ridiculous"

Note: For some reason @inuupenofficial's webtoon, "Just A Goblin" is brought up in this discussion as well.

[Saturday AM CEO Leaked DM's]
In this conversation, allegedly, Saturday AM CEO, Frederick L Jones describes manga magazine, ONSOLGO (Formerly known as OnsoruGo!) as "another wannabe Saturday AM made up of failures to our magazine"

In this message, Shrine Comics CEO, JIN, is also mentioned: "Bullshit is as bullshit does. I know this group of losers would try to pair up and Jin's ass was not to be trusted. Curious what he's *paying* them"

Note: Uncropped Screenshot provided to avoid this post being labeled as "made up" or "fabricated"Image

This comes after Saturday Am CEO, Frederick L Jones allegedly called popular artist, Nikolas Draper Ivey “This N*gro” in a leaked private message to Saturday AM cofounder, Raymond Brown:
Saturday AM's CEO Frederick L Jones has responded to the recent allegations. This screenshot was sent in by a source who wishes to remain anonymous

A commenter asked "Hey Mr Jeyodin, has Mr Frederick ever been homophobic or ever insulted Onsolgo or Shrine Comics"

In response, Saturday AM CEO, Frederick L Jones responded "1. Slander is what you posted about me from a known lying troll. 2. Lying is what you did by saying you don't believe it, but suggesting the lie is real. 3. Did your friends HACK our [social media] Thanks for confirming for legal"

What are your thoughts on this response?Image
Hey @DFang37, Here is the leaked screenshot you might be looking for!
@DFang37 As well as this one!
@DFang37
An interesting takeaway from Saturday AM CEO, Frederick L Jone's response is he confirms the leaked messages are REAL: "Did your friends HACK our SM?"

This contradicts his next statement about "slander." How can it be slander if the screenshots are real?

Remember, in law, the ultimate defense to slander or libel is the truth!
Former Saturday AM Co-Founder of 10+ Years, Saigami Project CONFIRMS there was a toxic workplace environment inside the world’s most diverse comic / manga magazine:

“Shit talking and belittling other creators, especially competitors, ex artists, or people who were “trolls” was a common theme”

“I hate that I used to be part of it, but I was. The messed up things you do to fit in”
@DFang37 This is somewhat common though, I don’t know if you follow Blake Showers from Saturday Am either. He made this post making fun of me for some reason and Saturday Am retweeted it

DFang, after seeing the screenshot evidence himself of Saturday AM Frederick L Jones shit talking ONSOL-GO and SHRINE COMICS, comments:

"Mr Frederick, please do not gaslight me... There is evidence of you insulting Sejibotto company, ONSOL-GO and Shrine Comics"

In response, Saturday AM CEO states:
"You are misusing the term gaslighting... I get that you and your friends are trying to create dialogue for content so THEY can "gaslight" the idea they are innocent of trolling"Image
An account named WhyMarkTho quickly clocks Saturday AM CEO, Frederick L Jones' response by stating:

"Told them it was fake slander, but also a hacker? Can't be both"
"Don't address the actual former artists and lump them with actual trolls (psychological manipulation)"
"Convinced them to apologize for threatening you, which... they didn't do (Questioning reasoning)

They then include a Google definition of gaslighting

Note: Remember the person Fred is arguing with is 17Image
[SATURDAY AM OFFICIAL RESPONSE]
Please read the statement they posted on their official Twitter account carefully

"Our Black-Owned studio was referred to as 'MONKEYS' (AGAIN)"

"While we do have fun, we are not 'monkeys'

Note:
No evidence is provided for where this took place Image
THE FIRST TIME

This was brought up was in response to former Saturday Am co-founder, SaigamiProject’s Tweet:

“Close enough to a circus indeed ran by a narcissist leader and his flying monkeys”
Saturday Am continues to make it seem like this term “flying monkey” was used in a racist way, when it is a very well known phrase understood by many people

Here is an official definition of what the phrase “Flying Monkey” means in relation to narcissistic behavior: Image
Let’s not forget former Saturday Am co-founder, Saigami Project provided this same exact psychological definition

THREE DAYS AGO

It is very clear that they are trying to spin her saying “flying monkey” as her calling Saturday AM “monkeys”
SECOND INSTANCE

Of the term “flying monkey” being used was on my Instagram Story yesterday

I drew attention to how Saturday Am CEO, Frederick L Jones tagged MULTIPLE Saturday Am artists on this post

Remember, this commenter was 17 YEARS OLD asking JEYODIN a question, and Frederick L Jones posted it on Twitter, gaslit him publicly in the comments, and made this postImage

"Saturday AM Sucks. They Keep Getting Worse"
Article by Tapirclip

"Since I last wrote about Saturday AM, I no longer have any respect for them. They have ascended to their final form: the Rodney Dangerfield of Manga."

"No respect. A big reason is the way they handled the situation with Monitor Comics"

[ARTICLE LINK BELOW]Image
In Saturday AM's Summer of Manga 2024 Official Rules, it states "Concepts/Work Must Be ORIGINAL"

In that same graphic, they showcase a PNG of the character Melie, from the anime/manga "Radiant" by French mangaka, Tony Valente

Radiant is a property Saturday AM has NO AFFILIATION with. Tony Valente is NOT associated with Saturday AM in any shape or form

This is just straight up copyright infringementImage
Saturday AM Summer of Manga
AGE LIMIT LOWERED, MINORS NOW ALLOWED

If you zoom in on the graphic above with the Radiant anime character, you will see the following note:

"18+ for magazine feature"
"16+ for website feature"

Here is what the article had to say about this: Image
SATURDAY AM Summer of Manga
Age Limit Now Accepts Minors

Funny enough, Saturday AM did NOT update their website's FAQ page, here is what they originally had to say about why their portfolio reviews were 18+:

"We believe a person's desire to participate in our events should not come at the cost of their education and schooling"

"The second reason is that we find that most young people can not comprehend complex instructions until they reach a more mature age"

SO WHY ARE 16 YEAR OLDS ALLOWED NOW???Image
"I am here with good news. You can dislike Saturday AM and not be a racist. This makes no difference to whoever is running their Twitter account"

[IMPORTANT UPDATE]
Saturday AM has RESTRICTED the comments on this post. In this screenshot we can see the comment:

"A publication playing victim and promoting a smear campaign against their former artist is kinda crazy"

"Makes you wonder how badly things are run there" Image
Saturday Am continues to ignore EVERY SINGLE accusation against them

To recap: In the last few days we saw Saturday AM CEO, Frederick L Jones:

-Frame former Co-Founder of 10+ years, SaigamiProkect as “racist” by taking her statement out of context
-Call Nikolas Draper Ivey “this n*gro” in a leaked message to Saturday Am cofounder Raymond Brown
-Insult manga magazines Shrine Comics and ONSOLGO, then gaslight a 17 year old who asked about it to confirm
-Leaked the DM of the 17 year old sent to Jeyodin, roasting the kid publicly, while tagging multiple Sat Am artists
-Caught being mad at a fan for “only supporting the gay artists” in a Saturday Brunch issue, (you know, the LGBT magazine)

Like every controversy before this, it looks like the Saturday Am strategy is to deny deny deny, straight up lie, and hope this blow over againImage
[IMPORTANT UPDATE]
Saturday AM CEO, Frederick L Jones ADMITS the leaked DM's with cofounder, Raymond Brown are REAL:

"I've seen a few young black artists hate on me & my company openly because we are successful, but then be shocked when we 'dislike them' for it privately (after hacking our account"

Note: Now go back in the thread and see how many times they call them fake and fabricatedImage
LET’S NOT FORGET

Saturday Am CEO Frederick L Jones wrote this about me in a Saturday Brunch issue:

“Our Henshin Vol 1 by Bon Idle, himself the subject of additional lies from Monitor Comics”

Turns out the leaked DM was REAL

I also vividly remember Saturday Am cofounder, Raymond Brown saying this:

“You were attempting to embarrass my colleague, slander Saturday AM, and my name”

“If you vetted your sources as poorly as this, who is to say any of your sources have merit?”

WHERE IS MY APOLOGY?
LETS NOT FORGET

This leaked DM between Saturday Am CEO Frederick L Jones and Cofounder, Raymond Brown

Fred has now confirmed the LEAKED DMS ARE REAL, so that means…

You LIED about me to your audience on Twitter and you LIED about me in that Saturday Brunch magazine issue
[SATURDAY AM OFFICIAL STATEMENT]
"If more people focused on producing manga, getting it to market, and speaking to actual fans, really wouldn't be time for any of the obsessive trolling that goes on"

This comes after Saturday AM CEO, Frederick L Jones admitted the LEAKED DM's were REAL yesterday, after he and his company claimed they were "slander' "fake" and "fabrications" for the past yearImage
Saturday AM PR Manager Jackie Star continues to prove this "publishing company" CANNOT READ:

"Now they're caught claiming my team and I are monkeys? SMH"

Note: Please scroll up, I actually provide evidence and proof, unlike Saturday AM who just says shit Image
Saturday Am never posts evidence of when PR Manager, Jackie Star was “called a homophobe”

All I can guess is they are referring to this post I made about conservatives I know in my life:

Note: Jackie Star confirmed she is a proud conservative
Let’s also remember when Saturday Am’s PR Manager, Jackie Star said this:

“SaigamiProject had problems with me and Raymond because we are conservative and she is gay”

“She is playing the victim card”
Let’s also remember that Saturday Am PR Manager Jackie Star does NOT even like her JOB:

“To be honest with you I don’t really like doing the PR stuff”

“I do it to stay in the company’s good graces”

“Saturday Am is my best chance to have a manga series published”
LGBT Artist Starshields even publicly stated:

“I had submitted for Saturday Am’s Summer of Manga 2022 but after they dead named me, and the way they handled my interview, I’m not going back”

Starshield’s full statement about Saturday AM’s PR Manager, Jackie Star below⬇️
Here is Starshield’s full statement regarding their experience with Saturday Am PR Manager Jackie Star:

“Throughout the process I felt belittled… they even masculinized my name somehow”

“Trans people are very specific with their name”

“Jackie asked me if I had a family, she explained that sometimes Saturday Am considers this in their selection process because they are worried people with too many familial tasks won’t be able to complete Summer of Manga”

“Her closing statement was ‘I’ll get your number and we’ll have coffee’ and then winked at me before profusely stating that it was a joke”

“I tried to address these issues via their website and received no response”
Despite Saturday AM CEO Frederick L Jones ADMITTING the leaked DM's are REAL+ all of the accounts in the thread

PR Manager Jackie Star:
"If you want to sincerely apologize to my team and I DM me"

"If you truly are committed to doing the right thing feel free to reach out to us" Image
Anonymous Saturday AM Artist's Statement

Some have had to wait over a year, while others NEVER received their prizes at all

Saturday AM's PR Manager, Jackie Star never addressed this either:

"[MY LEGAL NAME] wants to build a name for himself and decided to attack Fred and Sat AM as his ticket to views"

"[MY LEGAL NAME] made videos attacking me and Sat AM and labeled me homophobic. Liar!" Image
NEW STATEMENT
Regarding Saturday AM PR Manager

"Jackie kept insisting that I'd go to court and face consequences despite me clearly not doing anything and it having been proven wrong"

"Saying they would find out where I lived, my school, and implied they'd get me expelled" Image

THE DD MARK Situation
(A Thread)

I will now go into the most recent situation that many of you have been asking about

The copyright and ownership "debate"
Recently you may have seen a few of us making jokes about how DD owns 100% of his comic

That is what this situation is about

Obviously this isn't MY STORY to tell, so I will keep it very brief.

I only care because he's a friend and I literally have videos promoting the company and telling people to apply there

I have an audience so I feel somewhat responsible
