Today judges have ruled that the law does not permit Mermaids to challenge a decision made by the Charity Commission to register LGB Alliance as a charity.

This confirms LGB Alliance remains a registered charity and will therefore be held accountable to the same high standards as other charities. With charitable status comes scrutiny – from the public, from funders, from the Charity Commission, and from the voluntary sector.

LGBA will now be subject to the regulation of the Charity Commission. They must be held accountable for their actions. It is vital for all charities to work in a way that is inclusive of marginalised groups, including trans people.
