🧵 Why I think Melanie Martinez is innocent.

A thread looking deeper into the allegations made against Melanie Martinez by Timothy Heller as well as debunking statements & misinformation from both sides.

TW: SA/r*pe

Before starting, I want to let you all know that this thread is going to be very long & detailed. If you are not willing to FULLY read it, then don't comment on the situation or insult anybody.
I will be directly blocking any vile comments towards anyone involved (including myself). If you want to have a mature conversation about this then DM me, I am always open to hearing opinions that are put out respectfully. Now, onto the thread.
On December 4th 2017, Timothy Heller publicly accused Melanie Martinez of r*ping her at a sleepover while she was trying to sleep via Twitter.

Just a little over 24 hrs after Heller's initial accusation - an interview conducted with her was released by Newsweek. In this interview, Timothy claims that Martinez "suggested they play a flirtatious game with handcuffs" which had allegedly gone too far on June 25th 2015.
There is absolutely no mention of this "flirtatious game" in Timothy's original statement that was posted on Twitter.
Timothy provided this picture that she says is from the night of the alleged assault to Newsweek.
Back to the accusation posted on Twitter, the sex game is an important part of the statement as Heller states in her post, Melanie allegedly asks her: "Can I just do this? Can I just touch your arm?"
That was the point of the entire game & it obviously DOESN'T correlate to consenting to sex, it's just to address Timothy's claim that Melanie was asking to touch her different body parts (which Heller was doing as well).
Picture of the game - the entire premise is to roll the two dices & then touch the person depending on what it says & according to Timothy, Melanie was asking for her permission.
This is all simply speculation over that specific paragraph. I'm not saying it contributes anything to the accusation being false or not, it's just a possible link between the two stories.

Newsweek article: newsweek.com/melanie-martin…
Quickly after the release of this interview, fans began to notice that the timeline was not logical considering the fact that Melanie was touring in another state & that her hair didn't look similar to the picture Timothy provided.
Of course this isn't the problem because I'm very aware that victims can forget stuff due to trauma. I am not holding the possible messed up dates against Timothy & anyone who still does should stop.
Timothy then takes to Twitter & tries to clear things up by sharing a video of her camera roll:
She claimed that her iCloud got the dates wrong & insisted that the picture of Melanie was taken in June yet the video posted by her clearly shows that it was taken on May 6th 2015 (which was later confirmed by an IG post where Martinez is seen wearing the same outfit).

People also noticed that the pictures from Heller's iCloud were all correctly dated, even the ones from months prior (all of which were found on her Instagram).
THIS is the weird part. The problem is NOT that she possibly forgot the dates - it's that she lied about her iCloud being messed up & specifically addressed that picture of Melanie by saying it was wrongly dated, which is false.
Looking at Heller's Twitter accusation & Newsweek interview; she continues by saying that following a tweet she made on November 16th 2017 (which was about the possibility of sharing her personal story of abuse), Melanie allegedly contacted her after it was posted.
Heller claims that she blocked Melanie, which was followed by Martinez then contacting Timothy's boyfriend Mikey at the time (Melanie's ex tour manager), trying to get in touch with Heller again.
There is no proof of these messages/calls from Heller OR Mikey. This said interaction allegedly happened not even a month before Timothy decided to post her accusation against Melanie on Twitter yet has never had any evidence of it for years now.

Melanie was inactive on Twitter for nearly two months before Timothy tweeted about sharing her story. It's odd that this is the first tweet Melanie would see from her, more than a year after their friendship ended (according to Heller they stopped being friends in Oct 2016).
On December 9th 2017, the 24 year old Timothy Heller decided to undergo a live streamed interview on YouNow with a 15 year old Melanie fan.
In the interview, Timothy stated that she was doing "funny rolls on the dice" while Melanie was "taking it seriously". As you all know, a dice roll is based on probability, not choice. Neither Heller or Martinez could've chosen to do something "funny" or "serious" while playing.
Same interview, Heller reveals that Melanie was wearing a long purple & black wig on the night of the alleged assault (keep in mind is only four days max after the Newsweek article).
In the picture she provided though, Melanie doesn't have purple or long hair, she has short silver hair, yet she is now describing her differently when this is supposed to be a picture from the night.
I completely understand if Timothy couldn't remember what Melanie looked like due to possible trauma but she is the one who provided the pic to Newsweek (which, once again, was only a few days prior to the YouNow interview).
Going back to the alleged text message/call situation, Heller claims once more that Melanie told her she messaged her because she saw Timothy's vague tweet & was worried about her, yet in the Newsweek article it's said that Martinez contacted her because of a dream. https://t.co/M7tFRbbK1ktwitter.com/i/web/status/1…

That "dream" is not mentioned anywhere in the YouNow interview & as I said earlier, there's still no evidence of the supposed interaction to this day.
Before Timothy conducted this interview with the 15 year old, she was also messaging minors as young as 14 years old in detail about the alleged incident because their thread exposing Dan Schneider had gone viral (reminder that Timothy was 24 at the time).

Their stance on the situation doesn't matter. The point is that it was EXTREMELY inappropriate of Timothy to do this. Her reaching out to MINORS & insinuating that she was doing it just because of how viral their thread went.
The 15 year old girl who interviewed Timothy also later expressed how uncomfortable she was the whole time.
After Timothy posted her accusation, Melanie tweeted out two responses: one on December 4th 2017, the other on December 9th 2017.

The choice of "we" & "together" followed by "I would never be intimate with someone without their absolute consent" shows that Melanie is alleging that it was consensual/a decision made together but it could also be interpreted as a response to Timothy's claim that she said no.

There is absolutely no denying that Melanie handled the situation terribly & it's not surprising that people would believe Timothy even more after Melanie's initial responses.
On December 22nd 2017, Melanie released her song "Piggyback" on SoundCloud (a non profit platform) which is considered to be her final statement. A thread previously made on the situation alleges that the song is a "diss track", which is definitely not the case.
In the song, Melanie talks about her family being hard workers, her passion for different forms of art, her love for her best friend & hometown NYC while also discussing being betrayed & hurt by people which led to her work being diminished & her name being stained.

Nowhere is she "dissing" Heller or anyone & the only part that is about her (as well as other people involved) is the chorus; which is still not a "diss". Diss tracks usually attack another person while name calling & insulting them (the second pic is an example of one).

Melanie is talking about her OWN feelings of pain & betrayal. Like she has said multiple times, she uses music as a way to cope & communicate better.
I'll talk more about the other people involved now.
Stella Rose was present in Melanie's music videos & designed many custom pieces for her (a recent misconception is that Stella accused Melanie of SA, which is NOT true). Stella has also often been used to confirm Melanie's "abusive behaviour".
Firstly, Stella disliked her way before the entire situation because she didn't like that Melanie smoked weed. Stella already had problems with Melanie months & years prior to Timothy's accusation.
Secondly, Melanie wanted to make videos for every song on the Cry Baby album which means she had to continue to show proof of her work being worth it to be funded by her label. You can imagine why she would be more controlling on sets (which Stella was also part of).
This doesn't mean that she is an abusive person but at the same time it does not justify Melanie being rude to an employee or a friend. However, the people on these sets were not obligated to work with her when she first started.
Melanie was quite literally a nobody when Stella worked with her (her debut music videos), so she had no power over anyone. Some of the people that worked on Melanie's early videos still work with her to this day (her hairstylist William, for example).
Taking the ONE person who already had problems with Melanie for a long time as proof to call her "abusive" is ABSURD, almost everyone else from these sets speak highly of Melanie & are in good terms with her.
Long story short: Melanie probably was rude to Stella no matter what her intentions were but that doesn't translate to the accusation made by Timothy being solidified or "backed up".
Following Timothy's statement, Madeleine Carina (who was also Melanie's friend) alleged that she had consensually slept with her. She has never retracted her claim & even says in the tweet that people were misinterpreting her words.
Maddie has also made multiple baseless claims that Melanie is paying her 20 year long best friend Jackie & other people to stay friends with her.

Maddie has tried to push this narrative for a while now that none of Melanie's friends like her & are only staying friends with her for money/fame, even though Jackie, the woman she mentioned by name, rarely made appearances on Melanie's socials to begin with.
Jackie lived with Melanie in 2020 (a year after Maddie claimed that Melanie paid her to be friends). As far as we know, Jackie could have no idea who she even is - yet Maddie is speaking FOR her & spreading rumours.
In the same YouNow interview from earlier, Timothy claims that Melanie quickly dropped Maddie after their alleged sexual contact but Maddie claims that SHE & "so many others" were the ones who distanced themselves from Melanie after Timothy's accusation. https://t.co/etYFgsO77stwitter.com/i/web/status/1…

Lastly, Globelamp (Elizabeth Le Fey) was also involved, but I'm not going to talk about her in detail since she is a known abuser herself. A lot of people seem to think that her & Timothy were never friends though, which is not true.

I'll go over some common misinformation now.
This screenshot & every other one where Timothy "admits to lying" is FAKE/EDITED. She has not retracted any of her statements.
To say that Timothy never had any support is false. Her tweet got over 200K likes, news sources such as Billboard wrote about it, a hashtag against Melanie had 1.3M+ tweets, people were destroying her merch, etc. Timothy had all the support ever & rightfully so.
Timothy was talking about a man here, not Melanie. She never addressed her with "wrong pronouns".
Saying that Timothy's BPD "made her lie" is very ableist & wrong, especially since she said that she was misdiagnosed.
Final comments: I have no ill intentions with this thread, I simply recollected information & I am presenting it as it is. It's up to you guys to form your own opinions & support who you want - I just wish for the blatant misinformation regarding both Melanie & Timothy to stop.
IF it happens that one day there's some undeniable evidence against Melanie then I will 100% stop supporting her, which is what I did at the start. I believed Timothy's original accusation & if that's where the situation had stopped then I wouldn't be Melanie's fan today.
At the end of the day, this is all MY opinion (as a survivor myself) & it's not a fact since we will never know what truly happened that night. I don't think Melanie deserves to be called a r*pist & Timothy doesn't deserve to be called a liar either.
