I just hit 5,000 followers!

To celebrate, here's a keyword research strategy I've never shared.

I earned an extra $12,800 from my niche site by following this strategy.

Here goes! 👇
The strategy is to find topics in your niche that are BRAND NEW.

Topics where you'll be one of the first - if not THE first - to write about.

You'll have a high chance of ranking first, passively earning backlinks, and being seen as an authority.

Here's how to find new topics:
1. Google Trends ()

Search your niche (or a topic within it) and scroll down to the Related boxes.

Look for rising or breakout topics.

Click the next arrow to see all the topics. https://t.co/LlLNTv7RLitrends.google.com/trends
Image
You'll also want to change the timeframe on Google Trends.

Each time you do, it'll show different trending topics.

More recent timeframes will show more recent trending topics in your niche. Image
2. Exploding Topics ()

This tool simply shows topics that are trending (or exploding ;))

You have to pay to see all the topics, but they show lots of them for free.

The Pro plan has a 7-day trial for just $1, so definitely worthwhile imo. https://t.co/Actzhu1GfVexplodingtopics.com

3. Product Hunt ()

This is a great way to find new and trending software, apps, etc.

You can click into a specific category to see the top products. There are TONS of categories if you scroll down. https://t.co/aok9ieenESproducthunt.com/topics

4. SimilarWeb ()

Put a competitor's URL in the Analyze search bar.

Scroll down to the "top keywords" section.

SimilarWeb updates every month, so you can be sure these are their current top keywords.

Great way to see what's trending in your niche. https://t.co/KulPAQmmvisimilarweb.com

5. Manually

Just keep up-to-date with the latest happenings in your niche.

YouTube, Twitter, TikTok, Facebook groups, Reddit, and niche-specific forums are EXCELLENT places to find trending topics in real time.

This is arguably the best way, but also the most time-consuming.
The trick that worked for me was SimilarWeb.

I plugged one of my top competitors in and found a keyword they ranked for that was very new.

I targeted the keyword with a MUCH better article than my competitor, ranked first, and made an extra $12,800 from just that article.

After analyzing hundreds of niches, these are the 6 things I always look for.

The criteria a niche MUST meet to be worth pursuing.

This could save you from wasting years of precious time:

🧵...
First, I suggest picking a niche and following along with each step so you learn how to analyze a niche yourself!

You'll need the Keywords Everywhere Chrome extension for this (it's free - here's the link: chrome.google.com/webstore/detai…)

Alright, let's jump in with the 6 criteria!
1. Presence of many low-competition keywords

The quickest way to check this is to find forums in your niche.

For example, if your niche is "painting", you should search "painting forums". Image

This is my most unique keyword research strategy.

No one else teaches it and I've never shared it publicly.

Until now.

I call it "Projected Keyword Success".

Here's how it works:

🧵...
1. Find keywords
2. Find the "PKS" score for each one
3. Prioritize those with higher PKS scores

More details on each step below:
1. Find keywords

I've written many threads on this topic, so I'll send you to the one I think is most helpful:

Want to build a BRAND NEW niche site and start ranking as quickly as possible, without risking a Google penalty?

Follow this blueprint:

🧵...
1. Find a niche with plenty of easy keyword opportunities.

HUGE bonus if it's a niche you're knowledgeable about.

(If you're struggling to find one, I'm building Curated Niches to help with this. For more info, see: nichesitegrowth.substack.com/p/curated-nich…)
2. Choose a SINGLE TOPIC to focus on within your niche.

Topical authority is absolutely vital these days.

Make sure the topic is large enough that there are at least dozens of keywords to target/articles you could write.

I made $1,144.02 from one email sent to a list of 600 subscribers.

Here's the story: Image
Growing the email list:

I started nichesitegrowth.substack.com 5 months ago as a way to share my SEO and keyword research tactics, and updates on my niche site case study.

Since then it's grown to over 600 subscribers (currently at 620).

All growth is from Twitter. Image
Pre-launching a product:

I've had the thought of putting together a big list of niche ideas for awhile now.

People ask me for good niche ideas all the time, so I knew there was a market for it.

So, I decided to build Curated Niches.

Here's a completely FREE mini keyword research course.

You don't need ANY paid keyword research tools for this.

And yet, you'll be able to find some gem keywords and compete with the big guys after going through this.

Let's jump right in!

🧵...
Outline:

- First method: Google
- Second method: Competitors
- Next steps

Ready? Here goes!
1. Use Google to find a popular topic in your niche.

The niche I'll use as an example in this mini course is washing machines.

In Google, search "washing machine brands".

I see "Electrolux" on some lists, so let's run with that.

I just spent the last 4 hours adding EEAT to my niche site.

It's hard.

It's boring.

But it's extremely important.

I had this on my list of goals for January, and I've already done more than I planned to!

Here's what I've done so far (not everything is EEAT-related):

🧵...
The inspiration for this was an interview I watched with Niche Pursuits and Kyle Roof.
