What Rasmus Hojlund will bring to #mufc β a thread.

The rare combination of being both a high quantity AND quality shot taker, he ranked amongst the very best in the Serie A in his debut season.
A slight underperformance of his xG but you'd expect a 20 year old to continuously improve from his debut season.
πππΌπ πππππΌπ
However, his best trait cannot accurately be portrayed analytically β perhaps with his NPxG generated β and that's his positioning.
Whether it's his body feints in the box to confuse defenders...
πππΌπ πππππΌπ
...or whether he's finishing off a successful counter attack by showcasing his freakish athleticism but also his body control & instinctive positional awareness to be in the perfect spot for his teammate's final pass.

Per 90 w/ percentiles:
β’ 3.68 take-on attempts [90th]
β’ 1.37 successful take-ons [81st]
β’ 1.52 carries into box [90th]
β’ 0.34 SCA from take-ons [87th]
His box presence is crucial but he's more than just a poacher.

Providing the option for a progressive pass is arguably just as important as the pass itself & the only striker who received more progressive passes per 90 than Rasmus Hojlund [11.0] last season was Kylian Mbappe.
πΎππΌππΎπ πΎπππΌππππ
Whilst it's not a standout feature of his game, he has shown on numerous occasions the traits needed to be a solid chance creator β ranking in the 60th+ percentile for the most key creative metrics.
This likely improves with better teammates, also.
πΎπππΎππππππ
Ramus Hojlund is a highly intelligent freak athlete with immense potential who will fill a lot of gaps in the #mufc team if/when deemed ready to lead the line by Erik Ten Hag β which could be from day one.

The top Carrington prospect in each key position group that could force themselves into the squad building plans at Manchester United in 2025 β a thread.
β Complete keeper, best Iβve seen at youth level
β Recent growth spurt nullified size/length concerns
β Impressed in first senior loan at Chester
βExtremely young for his position, hard to break through
Unlikely to debut this season although he's surprisingly already made the bench. He'll likely need to remain patient & keep his head down on a few more loans but he has got everything you want from a #1.
CB β Godwill Kukonki (16)
β Ideal tactically flexibility at CB & LB, invaluable profile in the modern game
β Freakish athleticism with elite quickness & size
β Comfortable in the final third, thrives in overlaps
βCan be passive in build up despite technical ability
The first academy player promoted under Amorim created excitement over what he could do with a title winning young U18s group. Despite his age, his debut feels more like when not if.
Manuel Ugarte has had a stellar start to his career rising to become one of the best destroyer prospects in football but there is one concern that could determine his trajectory to the highest level β why has he been substandard in the Champions League?
An analytical thread. π§΅
Comparing his statistical output from his last two domestic campaigns, you can clearly see what type of player that Ugarte is β an extremely busy, combative, ruthless terrier who reads the game well with a relatively high level of efficiency in terms of both regaining AND retaining possession however isn't very progressive in that aspect preferring to drive the ball forward with a carry despite his impressive mid-long range passing efficiency.
To benefit the most out of a player like Ugarte, you need to surround him with progressive players who regularly break the lines β likely utilising him as the bounce passer for the up-back-through combination that we have seen often under ETH.
He can be trusted to recycle possession under the press but don't expect him to break in single handedly. That isn't his game as shown by these charts by @markrstats.
