thoroughly explaining the recent doja cat drama: a thread 🧵 
NOTE: this thread is not to defend her, but to just publicize a clear understanding of what has been going on, due to the heaps of misinformation being spread that are distracting from the problem at hand.
i, and some other (former) kittens, have constructed a timeline of events to explain to those not as chronically online as we in order to make this drama easy to understand so it stops getting twisted. however, i do not have dates for all of these events, just a rough order.
february 2023: kittens find out that doja cat and a man named j cyrus are dating because of a twitch stream they did on february 13. on february 15, users call him out after seeing doja with him on the stream. then they started getting spotted in public together around march-june
june 2023: these paparazzi pics are released, and the general public sees them together after they are caught kissing on a yacht. at this time we do not know too much about him, and we are mainly just dragging him for being weird and uggo.
shortly after this, we find out that he is quite the scandal, he is racist, and a groomer/abuser. now kittens are really like wtf because we know doja is going to be dragged for dating him and we are confused as to why she is with him/how aware she is of his action.
now, i do not have all the information on what j cyrus has done, but user @/harryxhalle has posted many tweets explaining how/who he has hurt. here are some stray examples not related to harryxhalle. as well as some cheating allegations from his ex (photo 3)
july 2023: after finding out what he has done, kittens then took to dragging him on his twitch streams telling him to break up with doja. this happened for a few streams in a row, and participant @/whipdoja got caught and blocked by doja.
he then joked that he would make another account, which led to doja cat responding to him by posting screenshots of some of his... weirder tweets. she also dmed him this paragraph (4th photo), which will be important later.
now, this did not cause too much outrage, because most kittens did not like whipdoja, so they played along telling (lying) doja that he was the one harassing jcyrus on his streams when it was more than that idk
july 2023: doja confirms they are dating and more people catch on to the weirdness. she then made this instagram comment and went on sort of a twitter blocking spree to anyone who criticized or joked about her man.
yes even well loved “head kittens” that have been defending doja since the chatrooms she blocked, unjustly, for just making a joke. these include but are not limited to users @/FLEEDASCENE @/nekotishka formerly dojasgallery and @/dojagaga
this caused more drama because she was blocking her FANS fans now. not just randos, so there was less defending of doja as she continuously pushed us away... also bc they were mother and she blocked them and we rlly only cared about them not whipdojashshshdhedh
july 18: she then goes on live and previews upcoming songs "paint the town red" and "gun" which kind of distracted from everything because people were excited for new music.
after this live, user @/FLEEDASCENE (cara) asked doja to unblock her on twitter, but asked her on instagram. this led to doja blocking cara on instagram as well which really set things off be it began cara and other kittens really rethinking themselves stanning her
so all this outrage predominately is only within the twitter kitten community, some are defending doja saying it's not that deep we need to mind our business, some are like why is she being rude to her CORE fans over an ugly man, and it's just causing a discussion.
july 20: THEN, there is a shift, user @/ harryxhalle comes forward about her personal experience being groomed by j cyrus, as well as many people she knows. and doja cat responds by blocking her immediately.
this causes a shift because now doja cat confirms that she is aware of what her man did, and she is standing beside him. which really sparks a convo amongst kittens and a lot of us decide to unstan/temporarily step back until we know more about dojas response
this was kind of the last straw bc we don't really wanna put so much time and money towards an artist who has constantly gotten in SO much controversy, it's exhausting, and there is no defending her in this situation so a lot of us were kind of just finished with her
same day: then, on the day where many of us were tweeting @ her, and changing our twitter layouts, i decide to give doja a whack and i tweet this. which i did NOT expect her to see, but she saw it, and reacted, or, well, overreacted.
this represents a lot of things. 1: my actual TWEET was not a death threat, she completely ignored the point of her defending her man and focused on the tweet i used. 2: self-proclaimed "troll" can't take a popular meme as a joke. 3: my tweet has been reported and d worded so
it's gone don't go looking for it. also, she has liked my tweets before, specifically tweets where i was DEFENDING her, and she goes back and reacts to me like this, a true fan... it's just weird. anyways iratioed her a couple times so it truly shows how the majority of ppl feel
also, due to her responding ON her twitter, this really swung things into publicity, and now more and more twitter users/&p. are taking notice, and since there isn't much defense on her side, it shows where people stand. the rest of the day many tweets whacking her go viral.
she then, out of nowhere, tweets this. same day btw. seemingly referencing that she is not new to controversy? or the actions of her man? or acting like this online? idk it was weirdness
