Martyrdom of 6 months old Hazrat Ali Asghar ibn Hussain (a) : a thread🧵
Image
Image
Hazrat Ali Asghar (a) was only six months old
in Karbala. He was the son of Imam Hussain (a) and Bibi Umme Rabab (s). On the day of Ashoor it was very hot and there was
no water for the family of the Imam for
3 days. His mother could not feed
him either, as there was no milk.
When all the companions and family members of the Imam were martyred on the battlefield, he called out, "Hal min nasir yansurna" "Is there anyone to help me?"
On this call, the Imam heard a cry coming from the ladies tents. Imam came into the tent.
Bibi Zainab (s) said "O my brother Hussain, since Asghar heard your call, he has not stopped crying."
The Imam said, "Bring him to me. I will take him and see
if he can get some water." Bibi Umme Rabaab (s)
brought the baby Ali Asghar (a) from
his crib and kissed him goodbye.
Imam Hussain (a) picked up the baby, parched with thirst, and shading him with his Abaa took him to the battlefield. When the Imam came out, some thought he was bringing the Holy Quran on his hands. He approached a hillock and the people saw that the Imam had brought his baby son
Imam Hussain (a) spoke to the soldiers of Yazid. "I came to this place at the invitation of your people to preach to you the principles of Islam. You have betrayed us, denying us even water.
If in your warped judgement I have sinned in not accepting Yazid, my son, just an infant has not committed any sin. See how thirsty my Asghar is. His lips are dry and he can hardly open his eyes. He has done no harm to anyone. Give him some water."
Imam Hussain (a), then, turned to Hazrat Ali Asghar (a) and said, "Asghar show them your thirst."
The little baby started turning his tongue over his dry parched lips. Some of the soldiers began to openly weep at the sight.
But Umar Saad turned to Hurmula and said, "Iqtal Kalaamul Hussain" 'Kill the words of Hussain.'
Hurmula, an expert archer but heartless, picked up his bow and arrow and took aim at the child. It was a 3 pronged arrow, thrice heavier than his own weight that pierced his throat.
Imam Hussain (a) bent forward to protect the baby. But the arrow went straight to its mark, lodged in the baby's throat, pinning it down to the Imam's arm. Asghar (a) smiled and the forces saw his smile and some of them turned their heads in shame and the baby was killed.
Imam Hussain (a) filled his hands with the blood flowing out of his son's neck and wiped it on his face. He looked at the sky and said that on the day of Qayamat, he will appear with this face to ask for justice.
It's said that whatever we eat & drink today is the sadqa of Ali Asghar (a). Because if the Imam had let the blood drop on the soil, no crop would've grown till the end of time. And if he had thrown it towards the sky,not a single drop of rain would have ever fallen on this earth
Imam Hussain (a) started walking towards his tents. He saw Hazrat Ali Asghar's mother Umme Rubab - standing by his tent. A mother anxiously waiting for her baby. Imam Hussain (a) thought: "How can I face Rubab? How can I tell her that her baby has been martyred without water?"
Imam couldn't muster the courage. He step forward, and then went backwards. He did this again and again 7 times saying, "Inna lillahe wa inna ilaihe rajaoon." "From Allah we come and to Allah we return."
He finally reached the tent where Bibi Umme Rabab (s) was standing.
"Who am I?," he asked.
"You are my Imam" replied Bibi Rabab. "Promise me you will do sabr"
"I promise" replied Bibi Rabab.
"Here take your child" said the Imam.
"Are even babies of this age killed?" cried Bibi Rabab.

Then the Imam dug a small grave with his sword, the Zulfiqar.
Imam buried Hz Ali Asghar in the hot sand & said "This is my last gem, Oh Allah, accept this sacrifice for Islam." There is no water to sprinkle on Ali Asghar's grave. Imam sat by the grave crying. Tears poured on the grave. Ali Asghar's grave was sprinkled with Hussain's tears.
Imam Hussain (a) knew that once he's killed, the army will detach the heads of the martyrs from the bodies and lift them on spears. He did not want a six month old's head on a spear. However, the merciless army did not even spare him. They specifically looked for the grave.
Each year, a symbolic crib (jhoola) is taken out in processions to remember Hazrat Ali Asghar(a) -- The youngest Martyr of KARBALA 💔

A Thread 🧵 Image
On the 2nd day of Muharram 61 A.H. Imam Hussain's caravan reached the barren plain of Karbala. Imam asked, "What is this

the ladies got down from the camels,a
yellow dust rose in the air. Imam picked up soil from the ground and said: This is the land of (Karb) sorrow and (Bala) calamity. This is the place where our blood will be shed. This is what my grandfather the Prophet of Allah promised me.

Journey of Imam Hussain (a) from Makkah to Karbala : a thread 🧵 Image
When Imam Hussain (a) was in Makkah he found out that Yazeed had sent his soldiers to kill him at the Kaaba. The Imam did not want any bloodshed in
the Holy House of Allah so he left Makkah and went towards Kufa.
The Imam's long journey of about 800 miles was through the dry desert towards Kufa. It took 22 days. They travelled on horses and camels in the heat of the sun.
They stopped at places along the route to rest, to store food and water; and gather other supplies.

Why Imam Hussain (a) converted his Hajj into Umrah and left Makkah ?

A Thread 🧵
Imam Hussain (a) and his family left Madina on 28th Rajab 60 A.H, took the main road, travelled 210 miles and reached Makkah in five days. The Imam stayed in Makkah until the month of Zilhijj, the time for Hajj. People who came there for Umra met him.
Imam sent letters to the Bani Hashim asking them to join him and be ready to sacrifice their lives to uphold the message of Islam. He also sent a letter, through his servant Suleyman, to the people of Basra. He invited them to cooperate with him to oppose the anti-Islamic rule.

Why do Shias prostrate (sajda) on turbah (sajdagah) ? : A Thread🧵
1. Prostrating on the earth (turbah) or nature made material does not in any way imply worshipping the
earth or stone which one is prostrating upon. You are prostrating to Allah and Him alone.
2. But Remember the prostration itself is a gesture of humiliation and insignificance before the Creator and if it
is done on the dirt, on earth, then it will have more of an effect than prostrating on a man-made carpet.
This is the philosophy behind the turbah, the sajdagaah.

[Ref-Tauzeeh Ayatullah Sistani p295]
