To reemphasize this point, Evan James McCarty's lawsuit settlement was approved in December, 2018. Four years later, in November, 2022. we find him still posting vile antisemitic and racist content under a new secret alias.

The Alt-RIght brought out the worst in people, young & old. Trumpism & the mainstreaming of bigotry, racism, misogyny, & antisemitism granted a permission slip for worst impulses formerly supressed.

There was a definite social contagion element, hordes streamed in from Gamergate, etc. looking for lulz and purpose. Many of them stayed but others drifted off, lured away by crypto and other distractions.

Many who left, either by choice or reckoning, described the experience as 'cult-like' and were ashamed of things they did.

Others really soaked up the ideology, delving deeper as the movement revealed it's true Nazi core.

While Evan James McCarty is clearly of this latter camp, there is also a unique level of cruelty and sadism in his activities that transcends the alleged 'political' nature of his motivations.

As someone once said 'All the World's a stage...,' and, as Byron de la Vandal, Evan James McCarty achieved a degree of international celebrity which might seduce an ambitious former drama kid. It's sad, but we do get it.

Evan James McCarty's foray into white nationalism and neo-Nazism was utterly disastrous to his life, family, and budding career as an entertainer.

While one can attempt to understand the motivations behind the first iteration of his career in Nazi celebrity, his subsequent return is harder to process.

Evan James McCarty's parents' apologetic statements on his behalf seem sincere albeit naive. The idea that he was merely a nice young man who 'was persuaded into hateful activity on the Internet' runs counter to the emerging facts of his case.

As AMALEK_ETERNVL, Evan J. McCarty was once again anonymous & no longer playing to an audience. This largely private performance reveals Evan James McCarty's truly vicious & sadistic nature. Crocodile tears of contrition are the only aspect of this that was "out of character."

There are many examples of successful deradicalization but it is a fraught and fragile business. The failure in this case only reflects badly on Evan James McCarty, who has wholly rejected optimism, kindness, and good faith in favour of hatred, bigotry, and lies.

There are certainly valuable lessons here, and hopefully they can be applied in a positive way to the important work of deradicalization.

However, the tragic tale of the Nazi actor and musician should weigh heavily on any future impulse to fast track any aspect of this complicated process.
