Komamura vs Tosen is perfect.
There's a certain hypocrisy behind this fight and it's full of lies one tells himself yet gets exposed by their own action.

A Thread~ 🧵

Sajin puts himself as morally superior throughout the fight yet in TYBW you see he does and becomes everything he detest.
That's why this entire fight is basically a gotcha moment in a second read. Image
Tosen similarly calls for Justice to honour his dead friend while completely losing his sight for justice. Hell he even hollowfies himself because he didn't want to dishonour the name of shinigami. He was that aware of his hypocrisy.
At the end he's dishonouring her the most.

Both project their evil onto their opponent to feel good about themselves. Tosen sees the good to the fault justice system in Komamura and Komamura sees the evil of human soul.
They see themselves.
It stops being a personal feud and becomes a fight for ideology Image
And the thing about ideological feud is they aren't fighting different ideologies they are fighting themselves. If Tosen wins this fight he could feel good about wining over the justice system he detest and if Sajin wins he could feel good about overcoming his animalistic nature. Image
Tosen sees Komamura's hypocrisy and rightfully calls him out. Who is he to judge him? Especially when he himself is like that.
That's why when Tosen calls Komamura ugly, he's not talking about his face but his soul.

"You are much uglier than I imagined because you are like me"
Image
Image
It becomes clear to me here when Sajin feels good about Tosen not being a saint, it's because he isn't either.
He pities Tosen for not loving the world while hiding his own face because the world doesn't love him. While running away from his own world. Image
Yet he becomes Tosen's "True Friend" to rehabilitate him and doing so he could rehabilitate himself. After all what what more proof could there be that you are a gentle person love this world than making someone else love the world? Image
As a fitting conclusion neither win the fight. It ends with both accepting their hypocrisy.
Komamura who was fighting for the justice greater than him, who called Tosen his destined enemy, couldn't even fight Tosen properly cuz he was a friend. Image
And Tosen finally realizes he had lost the sight of justice long ago.
And thus Aizen kills him, because Tosen was a dear friend and Aizen knew he couldn't live with this guilt. The death he got was a gift from Aizen. Image
It's probably one of those fights you could call where "the villain wins" if you can call Tosen a villain.
Komamura at the end agrees his relationship was a superficial one where they hid their true selves and crossing sword was needed to find each other.
Image
Image
Instead of virtue signalling Komamura agrees Tosen was right and he would probably do the same thing if anything had happened to his friends..... and he does...

Tosen cries because he finally found a true friend who truly understood him.
Masterpiece of conclusion. Image
Both lose this fight.
Well who wins? It's their vice captains.

Tosen taught Hisagi lots of things, however the best thing he taught him was that our flaws don't make us weak. They don't define us they make us stronger. Image
That is why even tho Tosen lost his way Hisagi continued to love the good in him.
Similarly Iba loved Sajin despite Sajin losing his way and Rangiku loved Gin.
The accepted the evil in them yet continued to love them for the good.

Revenge starts with a feeling of love, it transform us and makes us evil even to the point that love gets lost. But we can still respect them for that love.

That's why Iba says this when Sajin feels guilt. Image
Tosen, Sajin and Gin all 'die' metaphorically and literally at the end but everything good about them gets passed onto their loved ones and they continue to make their captains proud.

To quote the Kaien as I end the thread~ Image

BLEACH - WHAT is RAIN

A thread.
Well in literal sense. Rain is water falling down from the sky duh. But in BLEACH it symbolises trauma, depression, despair and any tragic event any character goes through.

A life changing tragedy, afterall it the
Symbolically it's in almost every scene with tragedy.
And KUBO hammered it home with Lust arc where Ulquiorra littally rains down despair on Ichigo in one of the scariest scene in series.
