We've been subjected to a lot of outrageous political double standards, but the one that says Democrats can deny - and even actively undermine - elections all they want, but Republicans go to jail for doing the same, might just be the one that tears the Republic apart.
It is very dangerous to teach a large number of people that elections are a joke and the political system is permanently rigged against them. The double standard on "election denial" is broadcasting that message with painful intensity. It's almost gleeful mockery of democracy.
There's basically nothing the Left can't do to question, challenge, and undermine elections. Much of what Trump just got indicted for was a matter of widespread and open discussion on the Left after 2016. No threat of criminalizing such talk was made.
And of course whatever criticism you might make of Trump's conduct after the 2020 election, he did nothing remotely comparable to the Russia Collusion Hoax, a stunning example of pure disinformation delivered by corrupt government officials in collusion with much of the media.
As if anyone really needed it, we're getting a nice sneak peek at what hyper-politicized government crusades against "disinformation" will look like. Trump gets indicted, but dozens of "national security experts" who spread disinfo about Hunter's laptop suffer no consequences.
Nothing Democrats could possibly do to undermine a GOP election win will be considered actionable "disinformation" or an indictable offense. They can leak confidential or classified information all day, endanger national security if they please, and then vanish into the mist.
Democrats can do anything to win, by hook or by crook, and when they manage to lose even with ballot harvesting and "fortified" elections, they can undermine the election or actively sabotage the incoming administration. None of it will ever be treated as a crime.
Dems are even branching out from denying and undermining elections to go after other branches of government, as in their recent breathless campaign to undermine the Supreme Court, and even physically endanger justices they don't like.
Our Republic has pulled itself off the mat after quite a few beatings, but this is the double standard we may not survive - turning elections into a "heads we win, tails you lose" joke. It fits neatly into the crisis of politicized and weaponized government agencies.
It's an existential crisis when the permanent State uses its vast power and money to thwart elections that might threaten its interests - or to silence people who complain about its incompetence and malfeasance, very much including our Third World election process.
Democrat denial of GOP election wins might be hysterical and insincere, but they have a free-speech right to level those accusations, and so does everyone else. The solution is to hold tight elections of unimpeachable honesty, not silence the critics from one party only.
Election integrity is incredibly important, especially as the power of the central government increases, raising the stakes for every congressional and White House race. Our elections have degenerated into an insane farce even as the power of the State increases.
Which is no coincidence, since the political elite of a growing State with a vast permanent bureaucracy will naturally grow less willing to allow its idiot hick citizens to threaten its interests by voting the wrong way.
Especially after the pandemic, we've been saddled with a delirious mishmash of loose election procedures - some of them known for years to be open doors for fraud, and denounced as such by every political party. It's almost designed to make every outcome look dubious at best.
Combine that with rules that say only one Party is ALLOWED to challenge election results, or sabotage the administration when they lose, and what do you have? A withered husk of "democracy" dying of terminal cancer. Single-party tyranny that barely pretends to tolerate voting.
We've been told the only real freedom we have left is voting for our rulers - a notion we should have fiercely rejected long ago, but now even THAT tiny scrap of freedom is worn and chewed.
Every major institution in America is suffering from a crisis of public confidence - and they EARNED that widespread skepticism. The loss of confidence in elections might be the wound that finally brings the American republic down - and that skepticism was also earned. /end

The Hunter Biden saga illuminates the Biden family's rapacious corruption, and even worse, the corruption of federal agencies to protect them. Also, it's further evidence that we must shatter the elite bubble and force them to live in the America they made for the rest of us.
Of COURSE the corruption angle is huge, arguably the story of the century in American politics. Socialists claim they can create an all-knowing mega-government run by honest, selfless geniuses - but what they always deliver is a corrupt sewer state run by greedy mediocrities.
There are no big, honest governments, and every one of the many, many embarrassing tales of mega-corruption must be spotlighted to keep proving it, over and over again. The most important goal of civic reform today is shattering the pernicious illusion of Honest Big Government.

The more we learn about the Biden family, the more they look like the crappy seventh season of "The Sopranos" nobody wanted.
Tonight on Season 7 of the Sopranos: Tony slips further into senile dementia and falls asleep while taking to a fellow boss, Carmela insists everyone call her a doctor, AJ runs around the White House sobbing that he wants his bag of coke back, Paulie gets slapped around in China
Silvo tells Tony he's gotta do something about his out-of-control son. "We got lucky this time, skip, our people in the FBI came through with a tipoff, but now we got these c***s****ing Republicans sniffin' around."

The Left is in an interesting place with Muslims right now. They really didn't expect Muslims to stand so firmly against the groomers. After their experiences with Christians and Jews over the past 50 years, the Left didn't think anyone was willing to fight for their beliefs.
One reason Roe v. Wade was such a landmark in the radicalization of our elite culture was that it showed left-wingers they could browbeat religious people out of their beliefs. Even the most radical pro-abortion leaders were not excommunicated. Religious leaders compromised.
That was a powerful lesson for the lefty radicals. Notice that THEY don't hesitate to use their own version of excommunication against anyone who blasphemes against THEIR weird religion. That's basically what "cancel culture" is.

Every ruling elite will inevitably conclude that authoritarianism is the only reasonable strategy for accomplishing its urgent and morally unimpeachable goals. Every last one of them will decide authoritarian government is the only way to preserve certain "key freedoms."
Speech can only be "free" under a regime of heavy censorship to protect the people from "disinformation." Elections must be "fortified" to keep citizens from making "bad choices." Fairness and equity require centralized government and endless wealth redistribution. On and on.
The elite see remorseless logic in the slide toward authoritarianism. After all, power is useless without obedience. Every ruling class realizes disobedience can only be minimized by politicizing every aspect of life, and putting some reserves of power beyond public control.

One reason Juneteenth isn't catching on organically with the general public is that it's obviously a politicized partisan "holiday," not a celebration where all Americans are invited to join hands and rejoice in a great achievement. That's what it should be, but it isn't.
The rest of our political culture loudly insists every day that no "victory" has been won against slavery or racism. We're told they are the founding sins of America, for which there will never be atonement or forgiveness. We're told "white supremacy" remains a systemic problem.
If anything, our hysterical racial grievance industry and the ruling Democrat Party say racism and white supremacy are getting WORSE. We're all supposed to feel perpetually guilty and submissive to endless demands for reparations. So what great victory does Juneteenth celebrate?

The Left believes it has enough raw political and corporate power to force its agenda on the public despite these supermajority opposition numbers.

The Right usually backs down from 40% opposition, while the Left makes plans to crush 70% opposition with pure force.
Remember that the objective of totalitarianism is to make the majority FEEL like a helpless minority - surrounded at every turn by the ideology of the totalitarian Party, unable to escape political messages in any corner of daily life. The onslaught of politics is unending.
People who are surrounded tend to assume they are also outnumbered. If the ideology of the Party is everywhere - blasted through every screen and speaker, scrawled on every sheet of paper, infused into every food and beverage - dissidents naturally feel atomized and isolated.
