How to publish children’s coloring books using AI

I’ll show you how to:

- Generate topic ideas
- Make coloring book images
- Create the cover & title
- Publish, sell & market your book

Steps below ↓ Image
Step #1 Choose your topic

Consider popular topics such as cute animals, vehicles, and fairies.

Avoid copyrighted characters like those from Disney.

You can use ChatGPT for ideas.

For example: Image
Step #2 Prompt images for your book

Got your topic?

Now, it's time to create the images with Midjourney AI.

If you don’t have access to Midjourney, you can use Leonardo AI for free.

I have tried it, and it is quite good.
Here's a good prompt you can use to generate the images:

Kid's coloring book, [OBJECT], cartoon, thick lines, black and white, white background.

Replace OBJECT with anything you like.

For example, I used "astronaut, planets" to make the following images: Image
You can tweak the prompt to make the drawing simpler for young children.

Add "--style raw" to the prompt (only for Midjourney).

Kid's coloring book, [an astronaut, planets], cartoon, thick lines, black and white, white background --style raw Kid's coloring book, [an astronaut, planets], cartoon, thick lines, black and white, white background --style raw
To create more complex images suitable for older children:

Add "--stylize 250" to the prompt.

Kid's coloring book, [an astronaut, planets], cartoon, thick lines, black and white, white background --stylize 250 Kid's coloring book, [an astronaut, planets], cartoon, thick lines, black and white, white background --stylize 250
Step #3 Create a book title

A catchy title is crucial.

Once you've finished creating your content, use ChatGPT to generate a good title for your book.

Here’s an example: Image
Step #4 Create a book description

A compelling book description is needed for the back cover of your book.

Once you've decided on the title, ask GPT to craft a suitable description.

For instance: Image
Step #5 Design your book cover

With title and book description done, time to design the book cover.

This is also easy to do with Midjourney.

Here are 2 prompts you can use.

The prompts are in the ALT of the images below.

Left: For younger children
Right: For older children
a kid's coloring book cover, cartoon, astronaut, space, clipart, flat vector illustration, color pencils --s 50
a kid's coloring book cover, space adventures, vibrant colors
Midjourney will sometimes generate weird text.

Don't worry. Just go to clipdrop. co/cleanup to remove it for free.

You can then add your own title in the empty space. Image
Step #6 Upload everything to Amazon KDP

Use Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) to sell your book.

Printed children's books sell particularly well on KDP.

Amazon has the advantage of having the largest reach amongst publishers. Image
Format your book images with Word, save as a PDF, and upload it to KDP.

KDP also offers a free cover creator where you can upload your book cover and description.

You can then type text on the cover image.

For more details, visit the Cover Creator of the Amazon KDP website.
Step #7 Pricing

Pricing depends on the book’s length.

Most coloring books average 60 pages.

The more pages, the higher the cost – so less people can afford it.

I recommend keeping your book within 40-60 images to make it more affordable. Image
Step #8 Marketing

Run Amazon ads.

This is the most effective marketing activity for a new book.

You can choose how much to bid per click and set your own budget.
Amazon allows you to run ads on their platform for as little as $1 a day for as long as your budget allows.

The ads are cost-per-click, meaning you only pay when customers click on your ad.

For details, visit the marketing section of the Amazon KDP website.
That's all for now.

PixVerse just released a powerful new AI tool called Magic Brush!

It allows you to control how objects move in videos, and has some very interesting features.

Let me demonstrate with 7 examples + how to try it for free 🧵
1. Cars racing

Notice how you can make the car on the left move faster by drawing a longer arrow.
2. Colored balls

You can specify the objects to move in up to 6 different directions.

Each brush corresponds with one arrow.

A few hours ago, OpenAI released their latest model, GPT-4o.

It's by far the best model we've seen so far, and it's available for free.

Here are 10 incredible things it can do:
1. It can accept text, audio, and images as input, and it is FAST.

The voice mode has a latency of ~300ms, 10x faster than GPT-4.

This means it can translate in real time:
2. You can get it to participate in a meeting.

It can listen to the conversation, and even speak for itself.

Coloring book images generated with AI usually have 3 problems:

1. They are too detailed for young children
2. They have shading
3. It's unclear how to make a colored version as a reference

Here's a solution I found: Image
To solve problems 1 and 2, try the AAM XL model on @getremixai.

This model usually gives simpler images vs other generators.

For example, left: AAM, right: Midjourney.

It is also an anime model, which means that there is no shading.

To solve problem 3, we'll use a trick.

First, generate an image WITH color.

Here's a prompt you can use:

Negative prompt:

shading, intricate details, bad, ugly, distortedImage

I’ve shown you guys how to make flat vectors with AI.

But what if you already have a vector you like, but it doesn’t suit the theme of your website?

Here’s a trick to change a vector to any theme you want: Image
To demonstrate, I’ll be converting these two vector illustrations into a common theme.

First, upload the image to @rendernet_ai and turn on ControlNet.

This helps keep the subject and the pose consistent, while allowing you to change the style. Image

Midjourney's new character reference feature is also great for making product photoshoots.

Now you can take different photos of the same product.

Here's a guide to get the best results:
Image
Image
First, a quick overview:

To use the character reference feature, add --cref at the end of your prompt, followed by the image link.
For this demo, let's generate a few different product photoshoots.

I'll be using this (real) image below as a reference product. Image
