After entering FBI, Shuuichi dated a fellow FBI, Jodie Starling for some time before breaking up because he wanted to go deeper into the BO by dating a BO member.
He was very ambitious that he was ready to throw all of his life solely for crushing BO, including his own lover.

At some point, Rei, Hiro & Shuuichi infiltrated BO and got codename (Bourbon, Scotch, Rye) without knowing each other were NOC. From the beginning, Rei disliked Shuuichi, considered him as a worthy rival, and thought that he’d be the only one to defeat him.

Shuuichi was 32 when he went back to Japan. He cut his hair after hearing Akemi died & made his first appearance in bus hijacking eps (chasing Vermouth who disguised as dr. Araide)

His purpose was to hand over Shiho to the BO so that he could get a higher rank, but Vermouth intended to kill her right there.

Rei began investigating Shuuichi’s death again. He disguised himself as a former hostage and asking stuff to Jodie, also planted a tapper on Jodie to listen all of her conversation.
In this case, Shuuichi didn’t tell Conan about his ‘hints’ to Rei, so it made Conan confused.
