3/โ๐ป On Jan 4, Sund realized there was a possibility of violence on J6, and reached to the Senate & the House (both have their own Sergeant at Arms) requesting National Guard troops.
These Sgt. at Arms are directly overseen by Schumer and Pelosi.

4/โ๐ป Upon being told to reach out to the National Guard himself, Sund did so.
Immediately, he was told to go back to the โCapitol officialsโ (the same Sgt. at Arms that just denied the request) for approval.

5/โ๐ป To compound this, the Mayor of DC, Muriel Bowser, wrote a letter to the Executive Branch stating that NO federal troops be deployed without the express permission of the Washington DC Metro Police.

6/โ๐ป Following repeated calls for help, the Capitol Police were left high & dry by Congress. DC added barriers that prevented Capitol Police from acting on their concerns.
