It's everyone's favorite time of the year, the ARMY-2023 expo in Russia

Iran's MODAFL (DIO/AIO/MIO/IEI) had an especially large booth this time, here's what we saw

🧵:
A new battlefield ballistic missile was unveiled dubbed "Ababil OP", OP likely standing for optical sensor

The board says that it's capable of use against both ground & sea targets. Note that DIO made a typo & misspelt sea

A new 8 canister launcher was also shown for Ababil OP

Pic 1: Note the Tactical Sayyad SAM system display next to Shoigu. First time we see the system with 6 boxes instead of 3

Vid 2: Yasin jet trainer model

Pic 3: Almas-1 top attack ATGM, Ghaem PGM (aka GB20/BS20), Toophan-5 ATGM

Pic 4: Sadid-365 AGM, export designation "F-365"

Pic 1: 12.7mm 4 barreled machine gun. DIO likely only includes this at expos for looks. Note MASAF-1/2 rifles & Ruyin-3 plate carrier in the backround

Pic 2: Ghadir AShM, export designation "CM-300"

Pic 3: Sepehr-813 SAR satellite

Vid 4: Balaban PGM, export designation "GB125"

MODAFL's MIO had some interesting displays as well

Vid 1: Mowj frigate (simply dubbed 94m frigate). Alhamdulillah, it's no longer falsely refered to as a destroyer. Also notably seen are Fateh submarine & Zolfaghar FAC models

Vid 2: Khalije e fars expeditionary vessel
"Zoheir" 500km SRBM model shown. This looks to just be an export variant of Raad-500. @Pataramesh could you possibly offer your insight? Image
Firearm poster, I've made an effort to try to identify each one as the pic is quite blurry

Also pic 2 gives a better look at 6 canister tactical Sayyad variant

Considering recent events, let's take a look at how the average Armenian soldier is equipped

Thread 🧵:
The usual infantry kit seen:

• PASGT helmets standard, but old SSh-68 steel helmets still in use.
• Standard issue plate carriers from Russia's Armocom made for Armenia
• AK-74 & AK-103 as standard rifles, optics limited to SOF
• ARMPAT for BDUs
• No encrypted comms
Some extremely low priority volunteer units are not so lucky. While much much rarer, they're usually equipped with LBVs, old chest rigs, & Soviet era steel helmets. ARMPAT BDUs still used of course

Since I've had some questions regarding IRGC in Syria, here's a great video showing how they're equipped on average

Usual PASGT style helmets of course. Of more interest, Ruyin-2/3 plate carriers which are rarely seen in peacetime, but are standard for combat deployed personnel
You can see this same pattern in equipment in many other images of IRGC in Syria. However the lack of proper encrypted communication equipment is quite concerning, something we really only see with Artesh infact
IRGC deployed in Iran itself in the fight against various Kurdish separatists around a decade ago have followed a similar trend

Note the old widely issued plate carriers (Ruyin-1 & unnamed derivative) that Ruyin-2/3 replaced

Shahid Soleimani corvette joins the IRGC-N, alongside some other FACs

Thread 🧵:
Armament:
• A 2A42 autocannon in Kamand's turret
• 4x 20mm autocannons
• 4x Qadir AShMs (300km)
• 2x Nasir AShMs (90km+)
• 6x land attack cruise missiles (2000km?)
• 16x Sayyad-3 derived SAMs (150km)
• 2-4x chaff/ASM decoy/depth charge launchers (dozen tubes each)
It can also carry a Bell-412 helicopter on a helipad, & under the helipad it can store speedboats. Quite impressive for a vessel of it's size
