What exactly is “the end sky” or 終ノ空? (A Philosophy Thread 🧵): Image
A lot of people have read Subarashiki Hibi or Tsui no Sora, but how many people actually take the time to fully grasp and contextualize the content of the titular phrase “the end sky?”
Today I’m going to attempt in aiding the thought process that seems to be consistently lacking
in this community.
Let’s get started!

So, how do characters within the Tsui no Sora/SubaHibi universe define this “end sky” at all??
Well, let’s start with the basic concept of “the end of the sky,” or as mentioned in DTRH 1 a place beyond our worldview where you can see
everything.

What exactly does this mean? Let’s deconstruct the concept of everything to begin with, as well as the use of the terminology “view.”
As mentioned throughout these vns, we need to understand what exactly the difference between the external and internal worlds we each
perceive.
We all only know and perceive what our senses allow us to perceive. This is known as our “view.”
However, there are many things outside of this broad spectrum of perceived things,
take for example TV Static.
What even is TV Static?
Modern science (while also mostly
limited to human perception) attributes TV static to the origin big bang billions of years ago causing a lasting cosmic microwave background. This can be detected via TV signal and is thus displayed as static on our screens through antennas (prior to the digital age ofc).
This
means that the origin of this static has existed for as long as the universe itself has existed, longer than before any of us were even created.
It was only through the invention of Television and antennas that we are able to perceive this energy at all.
This proves that things
exist outside our own spectrum of senses.
Now let’s follow a different, but related, train of thought.

let’s talk about the edge of everything, the beginnings and endings of the universe.
it is well argued that the universe carries an infinite amount of space. For our sake,
let’s say this space all exists within the confines of a box with infinite dimensions.
now i may lose some people here, how can a box be a box if it is infinite???
let’s use some basic logical reasoning to deduce this.
think about the amount of digits that are expandable between
0 and 1.
there’s 0.1 then 0.001 then 0.0001 etc, you could go on an infinite amount.
despite this there is still a definite starting and ending point, that being 0 and 1 ofc.
through this same logic we can say the universe expands within the confines of a box with 1 infinity per
side.

if this is the case then there would have to be a center, yes??
when perceived the universe expands almost like a treadmill being walked on within the infinite area of the universe.
the center only exists as the point of perception.
think about the minimap in a game.
as you traverse the map the shape extends, but you still lie at the center of it all.
You’re the center of your own perceived universe.
The beginnings and endings only exist where you do not.

Time to wrap this back to the phrase “End Sky.”
If we take what the characters say and
view the “End Sky” as a place beyond all limits where you can view everything, it wouldn’t be in the box of the universe at all.
It was be beyond the box, an infinitely distant location beyond all perception.
We’ve already established that things exist beyond our senses but how
can we actually see the End Sky?
What is there to be pursued?
Assuming the universal spacial area is like we proved it to be, an infinite space with us at the center, then the End Sky is something that we achieve when we rid ourselves of barriers of perception itself.
Rid
yourself of all worldly views, all senses, all that is known.
Succumb to nothing
Succumb to everything
Bathe in the vastness of it all
and exist in a plane where all barriers have been broken.

The End Sky is something we can never truly understandably achieve, yet something we
should all long for forever. A state of tranquility as Epicurus said, a place beyond all morals, beliefs, religions, materials, space, time, even thought itself.
One could presume that the End Sky through this explanation is nothing, however they could not be more wrong.
For
there to be nothing, there must first be everything.
all of eternity clashing and dancing in an everlasting nonsensical battle of woe.
An infinitely blank sense of freedom and virtue.
The End Sky is everything we wish it to be,
unattainable, yet right there.
空へ!
