Ivanova worked as a lab assistant, working in a medically-led laboratory which provides "quality accredited pathology services to the UK and across the world." Dzhambazov worked as a hospital driver, possibly transporting lab specimens and medical records.

Overgas Inc., a Gazprom joint stock company receives access to Bulgargaz’s pipelines.

Gazprom sold its shares in Overgas and they were repurchased by Overgas in December 2020. In July 2022, the US-based energy development company, Linden Energy announced it has signed an agreement to acquire 50 per cent of Bulgaria’s largest privately owned gas company Overgas.

Suspected spy for Russia, Bulgarian, Orlin Roussev, was an adviser to the Bulgarian Energy Ministry in 2008-2009 according to LinkedIn. The other two, Biser Dzhambazov and Katrin Ivanova are also believed to be GRU officers and, like Roussev, possessed passports for 9 countries.

Orlin Roussev is said to have worked with Russia for several years. He moved to the UK in 2009, and has worked as a technician in financial services.
