So, @PatrickHarvie is apparently now worried about abuse and "toxic" debate. But mainly when he's on the receiving end. Let's have a non-exhaustive look at all the times Harvie has tried to elevate the conversation:

Back in 2019, and following her thoughtful thread about sex and gender, Juan Mac, a blogger with a long record for abusing women (wonderfully, he was forced to apologise to JKR), named @JoanMcAlpine as his "weekly wanker". Harvie gleefully retweeted it.

This wasn't the first time Harvie had a go at Joan. Some days previously, he had dismissed the abuse she received, characterising it as “complaints”.

Joan responded saying Harvie was saying she was asking for it.

Joan is not the only female MSP Harvie abused. He liked a tweet accusing @JohannLamont of “vicious transphobia” because she made a speech about the suffering, discrimination & violence that women suffer globally on International women’s day.

During the Hate Crime Debate, Harvie threw out allegations of transphobia which he directed at several female MSPs who spoke in favour of including sex. Murdo Fraser said he found Harvie’s speech “chilling” while Tomkins, chair of Justice committee was “troubled” by his remarks.

Harvie’s comments prompted @1_elainesmith to ask Humza Yousaf “I wonder what the cabinet secretary has to say about the fact that, in debating the hate crime bill, I am now being accused of hate crime and could expect to have the police at my door.”

Harvie also signed and retweeted a defamatory and bullying letter targeted at lesbian feminist MP & KC, @joannaccherry. The letter was extraordinary in its intemperate nastiness.

It was not just those in other parties whom Mr Harvie bullied and attacked. After Andy Wightman attended a meeting about VAW, he was forced to apologise for causing hurt.

He eventually resigned from the party after they whipped MSPs to vote against the rights of rape survivors, accusing the party of bullying, intolerance and of suppressing open debate. His full account is worth a read.

His bullying and nastiness extends to women in journalism. Respected Holyrood editor @holyroodmandy said nothing in her career prepared her for the “malice beginning to filtrate Scotland’s corridors of power.”

Having asked party leaders for a piece on the term in parliament, Harvie replied with a “diatribe” about the magazine and Mandy personally. Mandy recalled that she sat in her office crying.

Perhaps with the group of lesbians at Pride in 2019 who felt that Harvie stirred up an already hostile crowd, resulting in insults and bottles being hurled in their direction.

He was, of course, referring to the visit of @MeghanEMurphy & @wondersbec to Scot Parl. He hadn’t actually been there, but obviously knew, with the unerring ability of the witchfinders - of whom he is the natural successor - that bad women talking is bound to end in evil.

Harvie wasn’t worried about calling a woman manes on a radio call in, or lying about the Forensic Medical Services Bill and the part where he tried to stop rape victims asking for a female medical examiner.

We wrote to the Scottish Greens to complain about 3 male officers & candidates - 2 claim to be women. One advocated punching women & one was Eilidh, who fantasised about underage sex & was excited about a “domestic abuse chic” photo. Nothing was done.

Patrick still can’t define a woman - which is odd for someone who has such an unerring ability to be offensive, bullying & intimidating on the subject of women and our rights!

Let’s be clear. Harvie is very happy for this to be a nasty, bitter debate. He has been one of the worst in ensuring that women are demonised while his party shelters abusive men. What he objects to is when women push back. #HarvieHatesWomen

Oh, and one more thing! He REALLY dislikes this hashtag. Because, as he points out, he is quite happy to indulge women who agree with him. They also “debated” GRR in the Scottish Women’s Greens & Rainbow Greens. Officers for these orgs incl in the past Emma Cuthbertson, Eilidh Martin (of the nappies), Beth Douglas, Heather Herbert, Ellie Gomersall… I think you see where this goes.

We forgot to expand on this one! Harvie posed with & applauded Douglas whose troubling history of abuse had been raised many times.

Eventually, the Greens had to investigated Douglas, only to exonerate him.

Douglas was one of the TRAs who attacked @JoanMcAlpine in the tweets dismissed by Harvie. He, and others, also defended a person threatening us with abuse. @patrickharvie is happy to work with him.

No doubt, Harvie will say that, by calling a male person "he", we are being hateful. We think we have to be able to name abusive men who threaten violence, and who are credibly accused of DV & rape. We also think those things are all worse than "misgendering".

Here is the complaint we put in the party. We got no response.
