I just watched the premiere for the One Piece Live Action! Does it live to the hype? The answer… YES! Here is why in my review!! ➡️ (1/16)
It becomes clear when watching that the Live Action is not the manga. They didn’t try to just copy paste the original story, they put in the effort to accurately translate it in a way that it works for live action audiences while still keeping the heart of the series. (2/16)
It really feels like they struck an almost perfect balance between the wackiness and uniqueness of the manga and a Western film style that I feel will result in a lot of new audiences being able to get into OP while still being so faithful and respectful to Oda’s work. (3/16)
The vibe and feel of it are completely different from the manga, it’s cinematic, like an epic adventure film, something that may even take a little for some folks to get adjusted to. But despite different vibes, at its core its spirit is so clearly OP’s through and through (4/16)
Alongside its different vibe though, the Live Action is also very differently structured form the manga. Every arc’s structure feels like it has been switched around a lot, with many scenes being rearranged, changed, or cut, and most of the dialogue being completely new. (5/16)
Some of the scene changes and cuts made sense and were weaved in fantastically, but others felt a bit jarring and disagreeable. Some scenes cut awkwardly from one to another without much rhyme, and while most changes were for the best, some I didn’t fully agree with. (6/16)
Certain storylines had to be cut or condensed for better pacing, and while some I’m glad were skipped, some others felt sorely missing. Whereas instead other storylines that felt very redundant were given too much screentime, such as Garp’s forced inclusion into the story. (7/16)
But these are easy to forget thanks to the incredible script. Dialogue is fantastic, it’s unlike any non-canon or filler material we’ve gotten, every line feels as if Oda wrote it. Even with the Straw Hats having different personalities, they all feel true to Oda’s vision (8/16)
The humor in particular is so on brand for OP, it constantly had the entire theater laughing. They really picked the worst jokes and one-liners for the trailers, everything in the show itself is on a much higher level and much more in tune with the humor of the series. (9/16)
The script gave so much more depth to many characters like Koby and Buggy, and all of this is only elevated thanks to the absolutely stellar cast of actors. Every actor, from Helmeppo, to Morgan, Lucky Roux, Cabaji, Boodle and so on have absolutely unreal performances. (10/16)
But the real stars of the show are the main characters. Every one of the core Straw Hats have such natural acting and chemistry on screen. Iñaki is Luffy incarnate. Mackenyu is effortlessly cool. Emily is so witty and likeable. Seeing them acting together is such a treat. (11/16)
The set/costume designs are fantastic, and the CGI, especially in Luffy’s and Buggy’s fruits, honestly looked really great, way better than what the trailers first showed. The amazing soundtrack by @SonyaBelousova was also such a highlight, it adds such a jolly vibe!! (12/16)
The direction by @marcjobst1 was fantastic, which added to the wonderful cinematography of the show. Action scenes in particular are so much fun, with great choreography and camera work so good that it evokes the anime’s best action scenes! Just a treat to watch! (13/16)
Overall, the One Piece Live Action seems to be a smash hit, as all the fans at the premiere were ecstatic. It’s not perfect and has room to improve, and it may take a little for fans to adjust to some changes, but it's all so easy to forget with how fun it is to watch! (14/16)
Taking all issues aside, the heart of the story is very much there. The scenes that need to hit end up hitting you like a truck, to the point many people ended up crying. They managed to capture OP's trademark emotional moments and I’m so so happy they managed to do so. (15/16)
All the flaws are easy to forget when you notice the heart and passion there was behind this live action. All the easter eggs, amazing dialogue, fun camerawork, and out of this world acting come together to deliver absolute joy, passion, and emotion! It's a real success!! (16/16)

In Chapter 1089 of #OnePiece, it is explained better just what exactly the "Motherflame" is, but a lot of it has to do with the Japanese terminology used that gets lost in translation, so let's break it down 👉 (1/10)
There was a bit of confusion within the fandom as to what exactly the Motherflame is. The Japanese version mentions Imu "wishing to use the Motherflame made by Vegapunk", but Ivankov believed the ancient weapon wasn't made by Vegapunk and may be Imu himself (2/10)
But how does this make any sense? Easy, it means that the "Motherflame" isn't the ancient weapon. Rather, the language used in this chapter seems to imply that the Motherflame may likely be the power source behind the weapon rather than the weapon itself (3/10)
One Piece Live Action Early Impressions REVIEW - 🧵
I got to travel to Los Angeles to see parts of the One Piece Live Action early, so here are my thoughts so far! Simply put, a couple complaints aside, it really is everything I could've ever wished for, it's amazing!! (1/15)
As a disclaimer, obviously I'm biased towards this project, but I also promised the staff I'd judge the show fairly, because it'd be disrespectful to their efforts if I only praised it blindly. This is also not a paid review, just my honest thoughts (2/15)
Above all, what really stood out to me about the One Piece Live Action is how incredibly fun it is to simply watch it. The series embraces the goofy and fun-loving nature One Piece has, to the point it had me with a dumb grin on my face during so many scenes (3/15)
#OnePiece 1084 brought up the mystery of Lily's disappearance, but the possibility of her having secretly become Imu is a lot more likely than you might first think, so let's explore this idea together 👉 (1/12)
So Nefertari Lily of Alabasta never returned from Mary Geoise at the end of the Void Century. The easiest answer to this is that she had a change of heart against Imu and thus was killed in turn, but managed to divulge the secrets she discovered in a letter to her family (2/12)
This would explain why the Gorosei consider the Nefertari to be "traitors", though we lack a lot of context there. But while this answer seems like the most logical and safe option, how about we think of the far more fun and interesting possibility? 👀 (3/12)
York is seemingly our Egghead traitor ...yet if we trace back her steps, it is practically impossible for her to have committed all these crimes given her airtight alibis. So how will Oda explain how she did it? Let's explore 👉 (1/13) #OnePiece
For starters, when the shields were lowered, York was with the other Vegapunks away from the systems. It is possible she sabotaged them beforehand, but how was she able to trigger the shield going down? And how was she able to lock the shield up later too? (2/13)
When Stella was kidnapped, York was sleeping in the control room with the others, and when she wakes up, she joins them in their search right away. It's possible she may have quickly gone to kidnap Stella between panels, however this is very hard to believe because... (3/13)
How Luffy's Three Commanders Symbolize The Three Ancient Weapons - 🧵
Sky, Seas, and Earth: Luffy's three commanders symbolize these three planes, but so do the Ancient Weapons. Is it a coincidence? Well, once you look into it, it's shocking just how well this connects ➡️ (1/10)
The latest SBS revealed Zoro's mother to be named Terra. This is particularly significant as Terra means "earth", whereas Sanji's mom, Sora, translates to "sky". Add Jinbe, the "First Son of the Sea", and you have Luffy's three commanders representing the three planes (2/10)
In Greek mythology, the three planes are the realms of the underworld (or Hell/Hades), ruled by the God Pluton, the seas, ruled by the God Poseidon, and the skies, ruled by the God Uranus. These three became the names for the three furthest planets of our solar system (3/10)
WHO IS THE EGGHEAD IMPOSTOR: ELECTRIC BOOGALOO - 🧵
At this stage, it may seem fairly confusing just who could the traitor actually be, but if we simply start thinking about it properly, there is only one logical answer we can make. The game is afoot! #OnePiece (1/15)
So the confusing part about this chapter is that it seems to present a contradiction, as we know these two things about the traitor:
- Only one of the Punks could have given an order to the Seraphim
- None of the Punks could've kidnapped Stella/shot Shaka in the basement
(2/15)
We also should rule out that someone forced Stella to go outside and give orders to the Seraphim, as given how Stella seemed unaware of the identity of his captor and was instead hit in the head by them, it simply doesn't add up for him to have gone outside to order them (3/15)
