when you try to engage any debate about SROs, the response is anger and an assumption of self-evident truth that the presence of cops in schools will make schools safer.
that question has been studied--repeatedly and at length. That assumption has been shown to be false.
Research across the nation for the past decade continually shows that SROs to not prevent school shootings. Regardless of political ideology, we should be trying to increase school safety based on evidence, not assumption. time.com/6187656/school…
It is absolutely essential to me to use my time in politics to fight for safe schools for all students.
If all the evidence says XYZ Is Not Working, then I would not be doing my job if I just accepted XYZ. We have to ask ourselves why XYZ is not working, and seek alternatives.

I hope people are starting to understand what trans people are fighting for.
Trans people are mocked and laughed at, belittled, dehumanized, every day all the time. Assaulted, abused, discarded. Rejected by our families and kicked out of our homes. Pushed to the corners of…
…our schools and jobs and forced to endure endless humiliation and threat.
This is what it means to be trans in America.
And still. Trans joy is worth all of it. The embodiment of our fullest reality is worth every single moment.
We have always been here, and will, forever…
But now we are claiming our space in public & the powerful are seeking not just to hide us but to actually and literally end our existence.
To ban the healthcare that lets us live.
To ban the legal recognition that protects our rights.
To ban the books that give us understanding.
