Arkansas National Guard just took over command of the Army's Ukraine training mission, and naturally a beaming Senator Tom Cotton was on hand to celebrate the glorious occasion Image
Note, the Ukraine coat of arms has been officially incorporated as an emblem of the US military Image
He may not care to emphasize it as much these days, but it will never stop being true that Tom Cotton's entire political career was a creation of Bill Kristol Image

Naturally, these pro-Ukraine displays at Burning Man were a straight up state-run PR operation. The head of the "charity" that organized it is a Deputy Defense Minister of Ukraine; the "charity" specializes in funneling grenade launchers, mortars, drones, etc. into the war zone

CNN covered the Burning Man/Ukraine collab, and of course neglected to mention it was an operation of the Ukraine Ministry of Defense -- in furtherance of US foreign policy objectives. Instead they make it seem like just a plucky little grassroots art project. Cool #journalism Image
Hey @JacquiPalumbo @oscarholland: do you not think it's journalistically relevant that this Burning Man display was an overt PR initiative of the Ukraine government, and thus part of an intensive lobbying effort to influence US policy? Or did that honestly just never occur to you Image

Sort of an odd incident. Reports say she was fatally struck while "looking out from an open hatch" on her armored fighting vehicle traveling down the Autobahn. No one else was reportedly injured. Her uncle later wrote on LinkedIn "she was a Russian scholar" and "spoke Russian" Image
Is it commonplace nowadays for US soldiers in Germany to ride these things up and down the Autobahn? She was apparently "40 minutes north" of the designated Army Training Area when the collision occurred Image
If it's commonplace nowadays for US soldiers to ride these armored vehicles up and down the Autobahn, is it also commonplace for the platoon leader to stick his or her head outside the turret while traveling at high speeds? Image

It's such a classic case of American political schizophrenia that DeSantis can openly pledge to invade Mexico "on Day One," yet still be accused of representing a resurgent wing of dangerous GOP "isolationism"
It's also a distinctly American pathology that "serious" candidates can make invading a neighboring country one of their signature campaign pledges, and this creates far less controversy than their occasional muddled rhetorical gestures about opposing US intervention elsewhere
Can't wait to hear how the GOP plan to invade and/or bomb Mexico, over the vehement objections of the Mexican government, is consistent with solemn US pledges to uphold the rules-based norm of "territorial integrity"

Vivek: "The Russia-China military alliance is the single greatest threat we face. Nobody in either political party is talking about it"

So true. Nobody ever talks about the alleged threat from Russia and China. Now I get why this guy is the Twitter algorithm's favorite candidate
Only a bold truth-teller like Vivek has the courage to warn us about the scary threat posed by Russia and China. No one else in the US political system is willing to do this. Indeed, the subject would never even come up if not for the refreshing heterodox leadership of Vivek
Obvious sarcasm aside, this has to win the award for most delusional line of the night. Per Vivek, "America First" = serve up some surface-level Ukraine skepticism while demanding to spend untold billions of dollars on the other side of the world to rapidly 'Ukraine-ify' Taiwan

It’s silly to declare as foreordained truth that “Trump can’t win” when the official losing margin in 2020 was 42,918 votes in three states, Trump actually outperformed polls in 2020 to a greater extent than 2016, and Biden’s support in 2024 is much likelier to shrink than grow
Furthermore I have yet to see a coherent argument that any other Republican has a better chance of winning PA, MI, WI -- which Trump *has already won before,* thereby constituting solid evidence of his ability to win those states, unlike empty pundit wish-casting to the contrary
A certain species of GOP pundit still has not been able to figure out that their preferences do not align with the preferences of the wider electorate. It's a bizarro repeat of the 2016 primaries, despite years of solemn vows that they'd humbly learned the lessons of that cycle

There has been no claim made that this individual fired on FBI agents, or even that he was armed at the time of the fatal altercation today. Apparently a giant squad of militarized personnel was incapable of apprehending a 75 year old man without gunning him down on his doorstep https://t.co/QZqM6VXiCN

A statement from the FBI's Salt Lake City field office also makes no mention of any agents being injured. "We have no further details to provide," the statement says. If this guy really did open fire on FBI agents, wouldn't that probably be the very first detail they'd "provide"?
This guy's offense was allegedly posting a bunch of demented memes on social media about political figures, which he apparently characterized merely as "dreams" of his. Either way, note the cheerful, credulous reaction to news of him being executed on sight in a surprise 6am raid Image
