• At 28 years old, Danilo Souza Cavalcante shot 6 times and killed 20-year-old Valter Júnior Moreira dos Reis on November 5, 2017 in a square near the bar where the two were drinking and chating with friends.

• The crime took place in the small city of Figueirópolis, Tocantins where Danilo was living at the time. Valter was in the city just to get his new driver's license as he had moved to the state of Goiás.

• According to the interview given by Valter's sister, he and Danilo used to be friends. At some point before November 5, 2017, Danilo lent his car to Valter who ended up getting involved in a crash accident.

• Valter stated that he would pay for all the costs to get the car repaired but that he did not have the money at that time.

• A few months later Valter moved to Goiás and he occasionally met Danilo when he visited the city. After a few glasses of beer, Danilo questioned Valter about the money he owed him. With no chance of defense, Valter dos Reis was killed with 6 gunshots by Danilo Cavalcante.

• Witnesses said that after the first shot Valter had already fallen dead on the ground but Danilo *very angry* shot the guy five more times.

• A request for the arrest of Danilo Souza Cavalcante was issued on November 13, 2017 and Danilo became a fugitive ONLY in the state of Tocantins.

• In this way, Danilo managed to leave Brazil through Brasilia International Airport and arrived in Puerto Rico a few days later.

Danilo Cavalcante was considered a fugitive in Brazil only in JANUARY 2018, 2 months after killing Valter.

• In June 2018, 7 months later, Danilo became a defendant in the murder case against Valter dos Reis in Brazil. At that time he was already in the United States as an illegal immigrant.

• A public defender was assigned to Danilo's case but he stated in an interview that he never had contact with the Brazilian fugitive.

• Valter's family learned of Danilo's whereabouts just 4 years later when they saw a notice that he had killed his ex-girlfriend in the state of Pennsylvania, US in 2021.

• In an interview, Valter's sister said: "I hope the US police catch him and make him pay for his crimes because in Brazil my brother didn't get justice."
